Love it, reminds me when I listend to this in Montreal in Canada winter 2013, walking around downtown in the freezing cold glad to be there. Now I am back in Scotland, weird, BOC are from Scotland and their music totally evokes my feelings of when in Canada.
+- Waterbearer95 Hi you are lucky, it is a lovely part of the world, I miss it a lot, especially the blue winter skies. Even your proper winters, here it is almost spring now, we had no winter to speak of! :(
James Abell As I type this it's like -40c here right now!!!! It's crazy. But I admit I love it :} Because it forces you to get all comfy inside with hot chocolate, listening to BoC. hehehe. I want to go to Scotland :(
I totally agree. If you go on BoC pages website and read about the samples and the meaning of the song names, time signatures, track length etc. It is mind blowing ... those guys were/are ligit geniuses, and way more going on than we could ever imagine.
RIGHT! the music speaks to me on a very special level. and it seems to do so to everyone. there is something very important hidden behind this type pf art
i have such respect for BoC for going for such a long time and not altering their sound , yet it's still so fresh listening to the new stuff ! most pleasing .
This makes me want to walk, alone, in a plain, in some barrens in the dead of winter. There's no snow, and it's not particularly cold. The sky is a greyish blue, and the greenery is dead. All I hear is the wind, my boots crunching along the grass, and this song. The clouds are passing at an insanely high speed. My journey never ends.
+Vin kie We're inseparable. We're like peanut butter and mustard. This mango will be my new favorite mango, discarding every previous "favorite" mango I have had in my mango collection. You hold a very special place in my shoe box, new friend. Thank you, for everything.
404UsernameNotFoundX man I used to feel relaxed but now that I got deep in their music ansd interviews I'm always searching for meanings, and this song and telepath, uritual and nothing is real ilustrates to me something unique, it is among the most serious music that I listen to, a lot of blurred emotions, nostalgia and fear...
This album is a grower. Been listening to BOC for years and on the first couple of listens , I really thought they hadnt made much of an effort here. It's great, eventually.
In one of their few print interviews they said they spent a lot of time trying to find a singular vintage effects unit to get a specific sound. They said they only used the sound for 1 second on this song. I wonder what it is.
Killer BOC's tune from Tomorrow's Harvest. Sends you right in orbit. Violently ethreal, aerial yet connected to something deeply organic. Comfy and scary. Birth and death have never been so close. Here and there. The meeting point between hope and vanished dreams. Distorted truth, bittersweet sorrows. Genius.
This is "my" favorite song on there new album.. I'v listened to the whole thing 100's of times by now, and every time i just have this forlorn feeling of coldness.. This track especially screams dolefulness. Makes me ponder, that there next album is going to be even darker with despair......
I think I finally found out what the chorus vocal sample is saying.. "you and me both get hurt when you act mean". I have Goosebumps and it's got that white water vibe which is probably why I like this song as the favorite on the album
With all Boards of Canada releases, it flies right over my head first listen. Same with Tomorrow's Harvest. But on my second listen, it stood out and I liked it. Third listen I thought it really lived up to the rest of their discography. It was worth the money and worth the time. It lived up to my expectations.
This is a fantastic collection of footage to pair with "Cold Earth". I think you've done a fantastic job. So tasteful and utterly appropriate. I am sharing this one.
I love this video. Very good job, my friend. The nostalgia is on point and the video well made. It is videos like these that keep the imagination that surrounds BOC alive.
For people with any kind of rhythm or other sound-based synesthesia, Boards of Canada is like the very best quality chocolate in music form... While I have synesthesia, my type is overwhelmingly lexical-gustatory (meaning I "taste" languages), with a small bit of overlap into seeing certain musical notes and rhythms as very distinct shapes and patterns (I forget the technical term for that type...). I often wish i had a stronger synesthetic response to music, tho - I wanna experience music like this the same way my sister does - she has full-blown musical-shape/pattern synesthesia, and its intensity varies with volume - to the point that if it's too loud in the car she actually can't see very well cuz her synesthetic responses obstruct her visual field and distract her.
+Humandavid1 This sounds like it could have come out in the mid 90's, evoking the geopolitical "M.A.D."ness of the late 50's early 60's . Cold Earth as in nuclear winter cold ?
My 8th grade geology teacher showed us film slides from when he surveyed lands in the Alaskan wilderness during the 1970s for some oil company. Something about those barren grainy pictures...
I heard a song from Campfire Headphase on a NPR ad. I'm guessing BOC will only give rights to stuff like NPR for advertising. A few bands like Air and Stereolab sold their songs for car ads and I can't say I blame them.
Ok weird thing I noticed... so the little girl that says "4!!" so clearly pronounced as apposed to the other numbers she says... is it just a coincidence that this is the fourth album by BOC?
