From New Orleans: although my fishing kayak is a small 8 footer & I weigh only 153 pounds, clothed, my anchor is a scrap cast iron "window weight." I use exclusively spinning tackle fishing for Blue, Channel & Flathead (rarely catch) cats with a single RAW shrimp just off the bottom. I ALWAYS have a net onboard. Being a life-long fisherman & 75 years old & losin' too many fish, I learned decades ago..................."just net 'em!"

Cool you are cat fishing in Florida. I can relate. 1984 we were fishing for bass out of a small boat and I put out a pole for cats. About 30 minutes later the pole went flying out of the boat. Lol. Used a large treble hook and got the pole and fish back. Played it cool like I knew what I was doing but not as cool as you would have done it. Love your videos and your attitude.

I’ve become all too familiar with that facial reaction at 4:39 when the GoPro beeped. 😂 😂. Between battery issues, SD card issues, or just randomly acting goofy, it’s never a dull moment with GoPro. The “kiss of death” beep beep beep is the worst if you don’t pull the battery out before it corrupts the SD card - 😬.

You young man, are living the dream if I've ever seen anyone actually doing that. I commend you on your diligence at you're commitment to following your dreams. Not many of those you ever see chasing their target species to all the locations that I've seen you go to, and so far as I've seen. You've done very well at all the different environments that you've been to, and you've done a fine job of sharing your experiences, and adventures with anyone that's been privileged to watch your videos. Plus I'm kinda partial to sarcastic humor, especially when it's delivered with a straight face for the most. Although your lucky baby brother has tolerance for your steady poking the bear nature, otherwise you'd have been twisted up like two pretzels in heat of the moment if he wasn't, but I'm sure you realized that long ago too. Good luck on your future adventures, and you really should take the Care Bear on more of then. I shared many with my younger big brother, and I do miss doing so since he's moved halfway across the country to be closer to his son and his family.. But at least they're getting the chance to do what he and I did for most of our lives, and so I'm not mad at him for doing what he did. Although I do miss him more than I thought I would, but the kids deserve the chance to spend time with him, and he them. So never take for granted what you think will always be, because one day something may very well change things so that it turned into great memories. Solid video! Those fish eat well down there. Itching for kayak season and this gave ‘er a little scratch, thank you, sir. 5+ inches of snow today in Iowa. My biggest blue so far was on a shad head under a bobber. Had it on a baitfeeder reel in the middle of the night in a kayak. Crazy exciting feeling

What the heck are you doing fishing in that thing. LOL I'm used to seeing you in a boat so seems funny seeing you in a yak/canoe, duck blink kinda thing. So I think we can safely say thing are warming up,,,, not necessarily this year but just in general. Watching all these vids just shows how things are earlier these days. We're basically in spring in the middle of Feb. Weird. Not sure why I'm so blabby tonight but Enjoy your vids. Nice yeller Flathead. IF I didin't live in Florida and fish saltwater,, I'd be a catfisherman. Infact today the only two fish I caught were Bullhead catfish. In Hall Bay, Marco Island Florida....100% saltwater. I truly need to get me a kayak Pronto. I unfortunately got a bank line hung up on something and I couldn't get it or the fish on it. Though I did catch a 16lb 14oz cat on rod and reel it was awesome. Thank you Spencer for the video that you post I absolutely love them and they helped me out a lot

Nothing better than watching a float disappear. Have you used an okuma Komodo and if so what are your thoughts. Also I have done really well using a Float suspending the bait about a foot or so off the bottom and every 30-45 seconds giving the reel one crank. They seem to always hit it right after I crank the reel. Great way to cover water when fishing lakes. Great video as always and keep them coming.

I finally got my rods out yesterday after taking the winter off, it was just to nice not to go fishing, only caught one it was a blue 41 lb I'm not complaining 😉.

I love all your videos, but the kayak ones are my favorite. Catfishing seems to hit a little different when you're sitting on/in a piece of plastic as you'd say. Just counting down the days here till I can get back out chasing the flatheads again. Also, how you liking those rods? I like the look of the grips on em.

Not sure your willing to share the date, but was that a 2022 or 2023 flathead!? If it was a 2023 that’s a hell of a way to start the new year with I would guess your earliest flatty! But, if it wasn’t this year it’s still a great way to end the year. Keep it up man
