The Ed Sullivan Show was a television variety program that aired on CBS from 1948-1971. For 23 years it aired every Sunday night and played host to the world's greatest talents. The Ed Sullivan Show is well known for bringing rock n' roll music to the forefront of American culture through acts like Elvis Presley, The Beatles, and The Rolling Stones. The entertainers each week ranged from comedians like Joan Rivers and Rodney Dangerfield, to Broadway stars Julie Andrews and Richard Burton, to pop singers such as Bobby Darin and Petula Clark. It also frequently featured stars of Motown such as The Supremes, The Temptations, Stevie Wonder and The Jackson 5. The Ed Sullivan Show was one of the only places on American television where such a wide variety of popular culture was showcased and its legacy lives on to this day.

Daddy absolutely hated them being together. Lotta women who would still bow to dads wishes over their own happiness. Weak women whom I have absolutely no respect for because they can’t stand up for themselves. Terrible partners as a result.

When ever I see Connie Frances singing back in the early 60’s, I get homesick for my youth . Listening to her takes me back to when I was 5 Through 10. I feel anxious hearing her sing now. What a wonderful time the early 60’s were.

I have always loved Connie Francis. She had such a distinctive voice. And I gained a lot of respect for Bobby Darin. I have seen a lot of clips of him with Jimmy Durante and Andy Williams. He is a very funny man. He has incredible comic timing.

They most likely would have married, except Connie's father was very possessive over her and didn't want anyone else becoming her #1. He even brought a gun to a movie theater where she and Bobby were watching a movie. He absolutely hated that Connie was dating him. Connie had to break it off, basically, to keep Bobby from being shot. She wholeheartedly believed that her father would kill him. It's absolutely tragic. To this day, she says that Bobby was the love of her life.

Her dad had total control over her. She wasn’t forceful enough to defy her dad and go with Bobby. That’s so very sad to me.

Bobby was raised by his grandmother, who he thought was his mother, and found out after she died that his supposedly sister was actually his mother. Francis' father may have had qualms about mafia ties, although I don't think Bobby had any. Early in Bobby's career, Frank Costello offered him a fulltime gig at a popular nightclub, but he turned it down. He blamed Costello for not taking care of his family after his grandfather died in prison.

They are positively adorable together singing this song!🎶 I always loved Bobby Darin & not as familiar with Connie Francis ( a kid when both popular but my mom had all Connie Francis & Bobby Darin’s albums! My mother literally had hundreds upon hundreds of albums, she played the piano professionally up into her 80’s( at senior centers, Alzheimer’s units, parks with carillon tower etc) so gave me deep love of music! How she loved the two of them & seeing them both here, how full of love Connie so obviously has for Bobby, is just sweet to see. I loved watching them both together & seeing how happy & full of fun Connie is in this video, looking at Bobby. He so obviously loves her too( need to add though I also loved Sandra Dee as a kid & loved her in Gidget!) & you can’t help but wonder how each life would have been so different, if Connie had been allowed to follow her heart & marry the great love of her life, she called him later in life, Bobby Darin.♥️💜♥️💜♥️💜♥️💜♥️

Bobby was a PLAYER I MEAN can you BLAME him. He was Always looking to marry a "Good Girl" VIRGIN. But he on the other hand is suspect of father a son with a waitresses in Chicago I believe around the same timeline as his relationship with Connie. There have been many improvements through the years but not in music. There's not a singer out there who could compete with the singers of yesterday. Not even close. Wow, has music gone downhill!

I AGREE I REALLY dont even listen to music of the present time GARBAGE!! Strictly older days even before my time which actually makes it all BRAND NEW 2 me. You had to have whats that called.... TALENT!! artist today would not stand a chance and be BOOED OFFSTAGE!
