And to think he was battling a cold during this performance. What a sensational performer, he wss truly something big. How I wished I could have seen either of these live ...thats living.
So glad you are are posting more Bobby Darin; thank you! This is the first part of Bobby's segment on this episode in which he performed songs from his current nightclub act. Two other segments were posted last year here. If you want to watch them in order, start with this one, "Start of Something Big"/"Just in Time", then "Toot Toot Tootsie"/"Don't Worry 'Bout Me" (second song not listed in video title but it's there), and then finish with "You're Nobody 'Till Somebody Loves You". Whether this is Bobby's entire performance from this episode, or there is even more to come, I don't know as the songs are not listed in any episode guide. If you watch each of these clips in order though, you will see by the endings and starts that they all follow each other. As for other Darin performances which haven't been posted yet, there are "Clementine", "Beyond the Sea" and "That's How it Goes". Hopefully we will see all of those here too!
@@drewconlin9452 No idea on either. Maybe someone else can identify if it's Ray Bloch's orchestra (the regular Ed Sullivan orchestra) or Darin's from his nightclub act. It's a good question.
Amazing, thank you so much for uploading more of Bobby. He recorded both of these songs in the studio, though "This Could Be The Start Of Something Big" has never been released.
From what I've read this great performer had a genius I.Q. I'm not one bit surprised if that is true. How the hell do you play all those instruments, write the songs that he did, completely turn 100 year old song's and make it seem brand new. And on top of that, be a great natural actor, had he truly made a go at it, he'd find roles that fit him and he would be lauded! I for one believe that article I read that he had a genius I.Q. and am not one bit surprised. BTW, if not for his heart condition, no doubt, he'd have been a great tap dancer if he ever tried to. Can't remember where I read it but after Bobby's death, Sammy Davis Jr. said something or other that, the only performer he hated or would have hated to follow is Bobby Darin. And I believe that!
@@jadezee6316 NO, but in his case that is something that is highly probable. I personally have always said that entertainers, especially the actors are very intelligent people, not that I respect todays' actors, 'cause I don't. Had they been born in my generations and if brought up with todays culture, most would've been draft dodgers, how old are you, if you're a male that is? Note, I say Male, not MAN?
Yes he had a high IQ- attended the Bronx School of Science and you had to be really clever to get in there. He seemed to be one of those people that could turn his hand to anything and be successful. I believe all the musical instruments were self taught too.
