@@robertnelson1743 actually Robert I have. I know Blue Magic very well. And yes you are right , Ted Mills of Blue Magic is definitely deserving so ! "Spell , Stop to Start, Sideshow
It’s a shame that he wasn’t appreciated more. He clearly was making a cry for help the whole family was under stress. This song is beautiful well done Sir! RIP King!
Had he not died I truly believe he would have been one of the best singers. Listen to this man, his falsetto is on point. I must say he had El beat, but I love El too. I just love The Debarge Family.
I agree he was making a cry for help and no one noticed. His family was broken and struggled with their own demons. Everyone else just saw his flaws not knowing that it was much deeper. His outlet for his pain was through his music which is why it's so beautiful. He was very underrated and misunderstood. I was born after Switch and in the DeBarge era but know the Switch songs word for word. And now at 40, knowing his story, I just hate how his life came to an end. I could listen to him sing all day now in 2022. The real G.O.A.T. in the falsetto game IMHO. Give people their flowers while they are still alive, don't let anyone else leave here not knowing they are appreciated and loved.
Bobby was the most flawless singer in the family without trying, but also highly mistreated. Being beat by his father for protecting the other siblings and Bunny being sexually assaulted when their mother wasn't around. This family disfunction was the cause of their drug problem. Bobby being desperate to find love in any form acquired Aids in the process. Clinging to life, he didn't pass until their mother reached out to their father who surprisingly arrived at the hospital, leaned over and whispered something to Bobby. Their father then left the room with their mother. When their mother returned to the room, Bobby had peacefully past away leaving a wife and two boys.
My goodness, God gave this man a voice. He is the VOICE as Whitney Houston was called the voice so should he be called the VOICE ----- the male version
Ok I need therapy bcuz I can listen to Bobby singing this song like 10 times in a row..Especially when he's hitting those high notes towards the end....Dynamite voice...He killed it on this song
I agree with you. Out of all 10 siblings, Bobby and El look the most like each other. All the others seem to have their own look that is different from the other 9. Of course, that is only my opinion. They are ALL beautiful, handsome and talented people. I pray that God will continue to bless them all.
He was my friend and i really remember him his beautiful voice in Milwaukee i seen him with switch and i remembered how that band was jamming then i got the privilege to meet Bobby and in that short time before he died we became friends Amen
👍⭐️Now I see why everyone says El sounds just like him. It’s sad that he die the way he did. 😭 I pray for all of the DeBarge kids. They have all been through so much. May they all be blessed for the rest of their days. 🙏💝
When Bobby hits those high notes it melts you and sends shivers through your body. It's so beautiful. And the man is unbearably handsome. Woooooo Weeee
Too beautiful. So emotional. Dedicated to Latoya Jackson. And he sang this from the heart! He loved that lady. I felt this especially close to the end he was crying.
@@cain1830 He recorded this song when he was with Switch...Its on their 1980 album called This is my dream...This sing was written about Latoya...His brother Mark said so...Plus he didn't meet his wife until the mid to late 80s
@@feliciar4818 The leader of the group Gregory states otherwise. He has made claims in several of his interviews that he helped write the songs in question and that was only talk. But who knows.
@@cain1830 I believe Greg might've helped with some of the lyrics to the song but Bobby was a co writer on this song...Nevertheless whoever wrote the song wrote a classic bcuz people are still listening to it today....Rest in love and power Bobby Debarge ❤❤❤
@@feliciar4818 I like several of their slow tempo songs. I do believe Bobby wrote most of the lyrics to their hit songs. He was just that good. But Gregory has been on video claiming the both of them are responsible for the hits. It is hard to dispute something when one party is not here and the other is alive and well. Nice communicating with you.
THE CHICKS WENT COMPLETELY INSANE WHEN HE SANG THIS CUT @ THE SWITCH CONCERT, I HAD ALL KINDS OF FEMALE'S FALLIN ALL OVER ME, I WAS ALREADY A SWITCH FAN, BUT THAT DROVE IT THROUGH THE ROOF 4 ME. WHEN I LEFT THAT SHOW I WAS LIKE, "BOBBY DEBARGE??? FUCKIN A+
Robert Patrick DeBarge Jr. One of the best singers of all time. He hit notes that most only dream of hitting. Bobbie DeBarge and Eldest DeBarge are by far still some of the best singers we'll ever see. This song is soon pretty. I love his falsettos. Truly A great vocalist!
@@ombreyarenee3826 that's correct! Robert Louis DeBarge Jr. and Eldra Patrick DeBarge. Greg Williams from Switch wrote a book about his friendship with Bobby. He was one of the few people that Bobby trusted.
@@jazdtildawn2, okay Bobby was also a Pisces just like me. His birthday is on March 5th. My birthday is on March 4. I have been a fan of his since 1978. I love me some El. I've been loving El since 1981. I will always love Bobby and Eldra DeBarge.
God he is fine, i had an instant crush on him back in the days with Switch. Bobby and El looks so much alike and sound much alike, i often got them confused. RIP Bobby DeBarge and thank you for your contribution to th music world, you made a big difference with your special talents and gifts. awe love you always❤️
It's too bad that there is not more footage of Bobby,I would like to hav gotten more familiar with his personality, that last riff on You & I is so heartfelt he was very talented as well as the rest of the brothers and Bunny..RIP Bobby
Beautiful song. Bobby’s voice always sounds wonderful and on this song it sound Extra Special. The simplicity and the sweetness of this song is so touching. R.I.P. Bobby.
Courtney Barnes Thats so true... Bobby was amazing... I keep rewinding this song over and over again... This should've been a #1 song for Switch... Bobby killed it on this song
I know your in a better place Bobby but oh how I wish we can have you and some of our other dearly departed one's backfor at least a visit...You are so loved and greatly missed....sleep in heavenly peace
