I got a little cocky for the camera and tried to drive down over the piles of fresh fill. It was pretty soft and when I tried to lift the overloaded bucket up it just shoved the front of the tracks down deeper. I'm just glad I never had my door on.

I work at a ski resort and about 2 years ago I was taking the company bobcat up the one ski slopes, not for a joyride, but because I needed to address a large leak. Mind you almost everything we have for the ski slopes is on tracks. As I was going up the slope it was of course pretty slippery, well the bobcat all the sudden turned 180° and I was now sliding down the slope. I finally did get control of the machine and decided I better find a different route to where I had to go. Lesson learned: was make sure you know exactly what you are doing, things can go from good to bad in the blink of an eye. You definitely have to respect what you are operating.

I WANT IT, Thanks for posting the video, without it I would just be sitting on the couch in my underwear telling someone else how to do something lol

At least nothing was damaged and the truck was close by. The 1st time I tipped forward on a skidsteer I took out the wooden sides on the dump truck. Experiencing something like this is how we find the limit of the machine and ourselves.

A skid steer was engineered for the brain of an 8 year old to understand and thus be able to run its amazing how men in there 20s think this is expressive, It's hard making such an easy job look that difficult but you did expressive work

kinda reminds me of the first time I operated one. I learned very quickly not to go forward up steep hills without a load. also don't make any sudden moves with any attachments. it like to fall on its ass

Everyone's an expert when we sit back and watch these mishap videos, however, some fail to realize that not everyone is the expert they claim to be when they first took the driver seat... I've operated heavy equipment from skid steers, track hoes, back hoes, front end loaders, dozers etc,. Anytime you take the seat for the first time, it's a new experience... You have to get a feel for the machine and what it's capable of... From time to time you may find yourself in a similar situation and not quite sure how to correct it... This is where experience comes in and it just doesn't happen over night... I'm sure this operator, with more experience under his belt, could've easily walked that machine out of that... For those of you new to the skid steer scene, you'd be amazed at what one can do with this machine... It just takes practice...

You made a mistake the first time. I drove over soft dirt like that a lot of times. The key to not getting stuck like you did is tilt your bucket all the way up and you will be gliding over the pile of dirt instead of sinking your bucket like that. I'm sure you know all that but decided to throw it out there anyway :) good vid

Hi again Jim. To say anyone can drive a Bobcat would be like saying anyone can play a piano. Sure anyone can smash the keys over and over or play chop sticks. But making music out if it is a completely different thing. I view the Bobcat like this. I would love to see you make a video on the finer points of Bobcat operation. Why you do something a certain way. What you see as the completed result before you get started. I've heard it said you are a master of something once you make it look easy to everyone else.And I think you are there. Of course I'm talking about your hundreds of other video's :)

he obviously had a BICS issue as he tried to restart the machine a few times but it would not let him lower the boom. When you press the "Press to operate button" the hydraulics are allowed to operate. but in his case, probably his seat bar was not fully in the seated position, preventing the hydraulics from operating. Bobcat builds their machines with a safety system that will prevent the machine from moving if all the safety conditions are not met.

@tjaxiphone

Could have yes, but he was tipped so far forward that his body weight was probably preventing the seat bar from being fully seated, therefor his BICS was preventing the hydraulics from working. It would be very difficult to have the seat bar all the way down when the machine is so far tipped forward.

Unless we are winging it back after the storm, we usually try to keep our plow on the centerline when plowing snow. After lots of practice drivers can usually judge the width of the wing and come within centimeters of guardrails, poles, bridges or other objects. It's a little nerve racking at first, but becomes second nature after lots of practice!

Leave the dirt from your first push in the bucket, and now use your bucket as a blade and on your last push empty your bucket. You only need to lift a few inches to back and repeat. This way your bucket is always near the ground.

JimHowDigsDirt I apologize for that Jim, was your contact with our company in the last 6 months? We have undergone massive expansion lately tripling our operations. We do ship out of the U.S, but it can be a little hassle on both ends. We ship a lot to Canadian customers, but they usually have someone at the border that we ship to, then they drive down and pick it up in the U.S side. We are currently running rebuilding specials for T300, T190 T180 and 331 machines. If you are interested in our offer, please call John Maples, our sales manager and I will make sure we get those drives to you. 888-9-FINALS www.FinalDriveParts.com the video on the homepage explains the current offer. I recently did the exact same thing on a much steeper slope! I though I was going over for sure! Also, I had about half a tank of fuel, but at that angle it moved in the tank and the engine died. I wasn't to excited about having to climb back into it after fueling all the way to try to get it unstuck. I made sure I threw some rocks under the front of the tracks so that it wouldn't tip anymore. Eventually I got out safe, with a rather large audience haha. Great vids, I'll have to use my gopro
