@@aysha3216 you do not have autism, you know someone who does. original commenter IS autistic, they have a say. i am autistic, i agree it was funny. so shut up 👨🍳👨🍳
@@dido.the.side.h0646 i think u just learned the word oppression olympics and ran with it 🤨🤨🤨 i’m not trying to over reach someone else’s disability and say mines worse. i’m saying she doesn’t have autism, she’s NOT autistic. she has no right to speak on autistic problems
They were super risky with this first episode. Jokes about molestation, autism, cannibalism... but it was perfect and set the exact tone for the entire series. This is the most perfect show to ever air.
Yeah except you don't really see that humor anymore in the later seasons. I'm on season 8 right now and all it is are a bunch of musical episodes and adventure-esque episodes. The first three seasons were kind of edgy and more adult oriented. Now this show can be watched by anyone that is okay with hearing "bitch" or "ass" once or twice.
@@Lovicide This is true. However, they are heavily increasing their jokes about Gene and Linda being together in season 11. Which is wonderfully cringey to watch.
@@angelarias3395 The pilot episode was about a family of cannibals. Like everything is the same as this episode basically except they really are serving human meat, Tina is a boy, and there's scenes with body parts. Like when Linda thinks bob was lying about forgetting her birthday Instead of waiting for a surprise party see takes a ring off a severed hand they were grinding into meat. Its actually why that meat grinding scene exist at all im pretty sure thet never use that again because he's just buying ground beef. It was also originally made for adult swim and a lot of the jokes didnt change which is why the first episode is edgier than the rest of the series and also has a focus on banter, it reminds me a lot of home movies which the guy who plays bob was in
@@angelarias3395 Oh also.....have you seen adult swim? Because this is incredibly tame compared to what they put out currently. I mean Rick and Morty make all the same jokes and they're a lot more mean spirited about it. I have a feeling you might be from the older generation so just do me a favor and watch an episode of Eric Andre and realize that is the generation you live in. We need to make old people scared again but they refuse to do anything but bitch about CNN and Twitter
They actually let the actors go off of the script and say what they want if they feel like it sometimes, it makes the show have a more real and human feel in my opinion.
Thats one thing about this show is their lines and dialogue always seemed unscripted and smart... at least Bobs always does... he always says exactly what a normal person is thinking...
You know, in a similar vein, you ought to check out the Mitchells vs the Machines. Pretty much every character in there you could make an argument for it, and all of them especially show different traits that could be drawn to autism. All the characters are good, their struggles and relationships are really genuine, and it's just a very well done movie.
@@EclecticallyEccentric Oh, I mean, maybe-- in this circumstance traits that COULD be drawn to autism was just something I noticed, but that doesn't necessarily mean they hit on everything. You could probably also make an argument for ADHD with the kids, etc, etc. It's not super concrete or descript-- which is nice because it comes out as something that most neurodivergent people could probably relate to at least one character in some way. I just heard from my friend that a lot of people with autism have talked about how they related to the characters.
When I first heard that voice coming out of her mouth, I kinda had a hard time associating that voice with her since it was obvious that a 30-something year-old man was voicing a 13-year-old girl. But after a few episodes, I cannot imagine any other voice for her.
@@DerrickRG what are you talking about, pilot episodes are the episodes used to pitch the show to executives. They polish the hell out of pilot episodes, the only limiting factor is their budget.
@@scottycatman also this is not the original pilot. This was a remake with the current characters. So even if it was the case that pilots are “less good” then this isn’t it
SmashLiXs...P.S...You do not have to have an "eating disorder" to be Autistic...Plus, that's more common in female Autistics...BUT NOT ALL FEMALE AUTISTICS, JUST SOME! It's not a huge percentage either!...THERE is a saying, "YOU MEET ONE AUTISTIC, YOU MEET ONE AUTISTIC!" 🤗😎😊✌️🖖🤘🙏🏽
Yep yep. When they say it's a spectrum it's not a sliding scale of the good traits on one end and bad traits on the other. Each individual gets a mixed bag of traits
Gene's voice when he's playing the toothpick counting game with Tina makes me crack up every time. It's the perfect combo of exasperation and amusement.
The way gene laughs when he says "it's 3" and "no" kills me 😂😂 it sounds so believable! The actor sounds like he's really laughing at the written joke! HAHAHAH this show is pure gold!
A lot of the show is improvised, all the core VAs are great comedians in their own right. It may well have been Eugene Mirman getting caught off guard by Dan Mintz's answers.
I'm autistic and this is one of my favorite shows ever, this bit gets funnier everytime I watch it. The dialogue is great, they dont miss a beat, it reminds me of Home Movies.
i think it's made by many people who worked on home movies. hell some characters are similar to characters from home movies. some voice actors from home movies are in this show too
Hey, when you’re autistic, every conversation you have his hilarious to the outside listener. You should’ve seen me earlier when my sister dropped a big ceramic plate on her foot when reaching for a bag of fries tipping over on the counter. She’s in the floor, groaning in pain, thinking she might’ve broken her toe and I’m just confused why she reached for the fries first. I was legit confused, but apparently my delivery or my timing or the incongruity of my tone was enough to make her laugh out loud in the midst of her agony.
1:33 You can hear them laughing, even they can’t hold back their laughter at scenes like this. One of the main reasons why I love Bob’s Burgers’ unscripted moments.
I just noticed that bob is slightly smiling during that whole exchange. Like, he's annoyed but he finds it amusing, and it goes well with the fact that you can hear him trying not to laugh XD
As someone who is autistic, I normally find jokes about autism, especially if they are to insult someone's intelligence, uncomfortable. HOWEVER, this was executed in such a way, that I laugh every time.
This is why I respect Bob’s Burgers, because even if I don’t always laugh, it’s not because the jokes aren’t good. It’s because they’re so natural that it doesn’t always click that it’s supposed to be funny - and that’s the beauty of this show.
Probably doesn’t hurt that the belchers are 100% autistic too. My family’s pretty similar and this kinda feels like a very similar sorta back and forth we’d have.
Don't hold your breath. According to creator guy, they kind of aped Family Guy type humor early, cause that's what got on TV. Now it's a solidified show, and he doesn't wanna go back to it.
I see so many people these days say that you can’t make jokes anymore without hurting peoples feelings but I think this is a great example on how you can joke about something like in this case “someone who’s autistic” without it feeling degrading or beyond rude chase many think insulting people is comedy when it isn’t
This scene is one of the reasons why the first season of Bob's Burgers will always be my favorite haha the writing was just so damn clever and kind of edgy.
All the quality jokes in this and yet it’s still Bob telling Louise that he put her “little step stool” behind the counter that makes me smile the most.
These episodes were like everyone involved thought the show wasn’t going anywhere and they were just going to fuck around and have fun while doing the voice acting. I miss the vibe of the early episodes tbh.
Rain man was high maths functioning autistic counting toothpicks this was great scene. Also shows there is a spectrum and some people without diagnosis don’t know where they are placed. This was funny clip Bobs Burgers is my favourite show 😃😃😃
I love Bob’s Burgers, and I am glad that Tina is Autistic, and Tina is also my favorite character on the show aswell. I have also uploaded a video about autism that I suggest you check out, it’s me explaining to people to not make assumptions about autistic people since I’m one myself. I have also uploaded a video of me showing my love for Bob’s Burgers though my drawings which I also recommend you should click on.
I wish they kept this feel and tone. Ever since like season 6 or so it's just felt like they don't take any risks with the jokes and dialogue. Gene's just annoying now. Just yells stuff.
This scene made me laugh and happy stim so hard when I first watched it. My sis laughed justas hard because we both find how I can relate to it, and it’s such a good line. We totally bonded over this bit. To me, there’s no better show than Bob’s
I remember the night this premiered back in 2011. I thought it was such a funny show and the toothpick bit and the fire extinguish had me dying. Should have relised that this would become the Simpsons of today
