The reason all of the extras were so good at the body language for fear is because they were straight up terrified when they were shooting the scene. Many of them had never seen Heath before, and it was a shock for them. Even the dude who played Alfred was scared, because this was his first time seeing Heath do his thing.

Marvelous, a well done analysis. Can we get the second "how I got these scars" video from the scene with the mob guys? Another note, not everyone catches, is the use of the sound. The wine of audio sounds like a machine winding up, it's in most of the high tension scenes with the Joker. A fantastic film.

I literally love these Heath Ledger’s Joker scene analysis. As a person with autism, this is very helpful for me to at least learn body language manually, since it’s not automatic for me. I’ve started trying to dissect other scenes from some of my other favorite shows, like The Flash for instance. Trying to see what they’re bodies and faces are saying. For example, in season 7 ep 6 of the series-the last one I’ve seen as of writing this-Barry Allen makes a certain (micro?) expression when the Speed Force and Iris walk away, after the Speed Force (who looks like Barry’s deceased mother) is invited by Iris to stay at their house. My guess as to why he makes this face is that, judging by the other confusing vibes the SP gave off, I’d say he’s somewhat suspicious of her/it. Or maybe Barry is actually disgruntled by the physical form the SP is in, despite saying otherwise. Or both, but I’m not sure. Maybe you might review the scene? This aspie girl is desperate to figure out how to read body language, especially from her special interest! Lol 😅💙💙

Joker always has a plan and he’s also a very quick thinker, it gives him the ability to be really loose with his planning while still being really affective. He can adapt at a moments notice and we also see how some of his plans already have different options of the possible outcomes. Joker says he doesn’t have a plan and maybe he means in the grand scheme of thing he just wants to cause chaos however he can but all his acts were planned like crazy. The guy is amazingly smart. Joker was amazing in this movie.

@synthwendigo639
@synthwendigo639 3 года назад
Another fun little info nugget about Heath's performance in this. The reason he always licks the side of his lips is to keep the latex prosthesis moistened, but rather than just edit all of it out, it was kept in, given the allusion to the bit where he's a "dog licking his wounds" all the time, to remind himself they're there. Really drives the feeling of someone with very manic "tics" with random sporadic movements such as that. Could very well be his form of a coping mechanism as he seems to do it more often in scenes where he takes a moment to run several scenerios through his mind, or takes a moment to process what's going on. Though in truth, its just due to him having to keep them from tearing during his line delivery, as he doesn't really lick at them much at all unless he's in a dialogue. Just adds a whole next level of creepy factor to the character, along with his several versions of how he even got the scars that he tells different people, as if he's molding each story to that person to get into their head the most. Like for Rachel, he was seemingly pulling a sympathy tug at her emotions by adding that he did it to himself out of devotion to his wife who ended up leaving him anyway. Contrasting to the mobster where the story revolves around it being his father that actually did it because he wanted to nail the point home that he wasn't afraid of them, as they were trying to intimidate him.

The thing the I like most is the Jokers willingness to ruin his own well thought out and masterfully executed plans, like dropping Rachel when Batman says to drop her. To me that shows just how brilliant he is as a character, because the thing that I think the Joker would understand is that a plan no matter how methodically thought out it may be, can always be recreated, reimagened, or redone better then before. You always will have another chance to achieve the same goal if you're patient... But when it comes to instilling real genuine mind numbing, bone chilling, fear... You only get one shot... I think that's what the Joker in that scene was attempting to do to Batman was install a real sense of fear... Fear that would break Batman if he didn't save Rachel.

It will be incredibly hard to top Heath's Joker. Heath has set the benchmark for the ultimate superhero antagonist.

The Dark Knight goes down as one of my favorite movies because of how terrifying and fantastic Heath Ledgers acting was as the Joker. The Joker is hands down my favorite comic book villian. the right amount of crazy and cunning with the right amount of gear to cause the right amount of anarchy.

The old guy who challenges the Joker at the beginning is a real-life politician who cameos in a bunch of Batman movies cuz he's such a big nerd -- er, fan. Patrick Leahy.
