I bought the “ body by rings program “ when it first came out, 3/4 years ago. It’s been with me ever since then. I’m 64 yrs old now, and totally addicted to the rings. At the start, I looked at certain movements, like a mouse at an elephant, totally deflated when I attempted to follow the training programme. But I persevered, and this month, 3/4 years on, I have mastered the skin the cat movement. And honestly when I completed the movement the first time, the feeling was better than sex😊, absolute joy at having got there, after such a long time, the formula is, perseverance, perseverance, perseverance. If I can do it, at 110kg, at 64, anyone can. I have never been fitter. No joint, back, or mobility issues at all, compared to others in my age group, there is no doubt in my mind that the stretching and resistance, and stabilisation requirements involved in doing ring exercises has kept, is keeping me free from age related mobility issues.

36:06 Honestly, I'm glad to hear this, Daniel. Having started with calisthenics as my first modality of training, I do understand that leaness is indeed a major factor when it comes to relative strength and specific bodyweight skills. Not to mention the social/business incentive derived from having such a large audience like yourself. However, I'm very happy to hear that you are slowly realizing the fact that other non-fitness related factors might be preventing you from squeezing those last few pounds of muscle you could still gain as a natural, provided you are willing to slowly gain some bodymass along the way. Not to mention the potentially negative impact of staying ultra lean (below 10%) for a very long period of time. I'm a much happier/stronger lifter staying within 16 to 18% most of the time and the extra 'fluff' has helped me in the realm of external weights (an area which you seem to be getting more interested in as of late). Don't be afraid of going up in weight, Daniel. Ignore the haters and keep going. Greetings from Spain. If you ever come back, let me know so that we could work out together. Stay fit. Stay strong 💪

I do both weighted calisthenics and conventional weight training, for my compound movements I just make sure to use one movement from calisthenics (weighted ring dips) and one from weightlifting (Incline DB) for a routine. Then any accessory work like lateral raises at the end. Same for pulling, I do weighted pullups and then barbell rows, then curls at the end. Legs is all weights. That's how I personally combine the two. Fill in the gaps that calisthenics doesn't cover with weight training imo. That's the easiest way to get the best of both worlds.

I'm very interested in starting calisthenics in conjunction with a muscle-building program using weights, but what I don't understand is given the training program presented, when are you doing the calisthenics? Are you able to do it on the same days you're working out at the gym? Or on the rest days? If I've worked out at the gym, whatever muscles I've trained are going to be out of commission that day, and they're going to need rest to recuperate, so how do you mix the calisthenics in there?

When you said rings are better for chest, do you think it’s advantageous / a good idea to have the wobbliness when performing the movement?
@FacePullTiToX
@FacePullTiToX Год назад
Hi Mike. It doesn't necessarily need to be 'advantageous' or 'good'. Rings simply offer a different stimulus than the one you'd get from a sturdy barbell. Rings are actually pretty similar to dumbbels in this regard. Both implements allow for the 2 upper extremities to move independently, thus the increasing level of instability. Don't expect to lift the same weight if you do ring dips as opposed to rings on 2 parallel bars. By the same token no one expects to see anyone who can lift more weight during a dumbbell bench press than the variation with a barbell. I hope this answers your question
@madams989
@madams989 Год назад

@GVS Год назад
@@madams989 I don't look at the wobbliness as an advantage, but it's also not that bad as it'll work the stabilizers. The increased range of motion and freedom of movement were the biggest draws. Can do mechanical drop sets to keep the entire set challenging.

I have done both. I find who you had on defines strength very different then I do. He was Defining strength as a weight training way ...... But the Strength from a Planche say is FAR Superior to Bench press. And a person who can Planche may not be able to bench much. But I have never saw a guy who can bench 500 be able to Planche. Not even close. Same with Shoulder press vs HSPU. HSPU is far superior to shoulder press. And I have known guys who can Double shoulder press what I can but cannot come close to a free Standing Handstand pushup. Or even a Wall sometimes. Body weight is a far superior strength . This goes to the comparison to who is stronger between a High level Gymnast vs a High level Powerlifter. Well relative pound for pound the Gymnast is Way way Stronger. If a powerlifter attempted a Maltese they would tear their bicep tendons among other things...... When I went from powerlifting to high level Calisthenics. My wrestling got significantly stronger then when I was powerlifter.... However to be fair I am built like a Gymnast. Not a powerlifter.

He have only been doing calisthenics for about a year so let him do calisthenics 4+ years he’ll definitely see a carry over on the weights

Very good example of a weak mind in a strong body "when my gym closes (bc of corona) I go back to rings" - prime example of avoidance instead of changing what needs to change: gov overreach and lies. Weak men in strong bodies dont stop evil, masculine men with strong bodies and minds do. body mind and soul, the weakest link breaks the chain.

Very well said...but first you have to be able to see through the lies, and be able to smell the bs. Most ppl in the fitness industry are "science"geeks who adore vaccines and lockdowns and eat the news served like a good slave

Sounds like adapting to a situation in a resilient and flexible manner. What should he do? Break his gym window with a brick and do cable fly drop sets until the cops tackle him?

Repent and turn from your sin. Admit you are a sinner in need of a saviour. Admit your sins and ask Jesus Christ for forgivness. For the sins that you know of and the sins that you don't. John 1 9 - If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. Believe that Jesus died died on the cross and rose again after 3 days as a payment for your sins. John 3 16 - For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son that whoever believes in him should not perish but have everlasting life. Confess that Jesus is Lord. Commit yourself to a life of following Jesus Christ. Romans 10 9 - If you declare with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead you will be saved. Romans 10 13 - Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.
