Seeing this video of two pilots in a seemingly small cockpit, that sometimes we forget that these people are actually manoeuvring a huge 300+ pax capacity aircraft.
@@jeffwayne3054 A computer can't do anything without the pilots telling it what to do. We have no idea how much process happen before the flight 2 hours before the crew even board, and during the flight, all the checklists, weather's check, communications with the ground and between planes over oceans and fuel calculations". Pilots are way underpaid compared to the responsabilities they have (300 people's lives). I never saw a surgeon taking care of 300 people for 11 hours straight, and still a surgeon has 5x the salary of a pilot.

I m from Hong Kong. Nice to watch a 13 min long vedio of a landing. And nice view, especially with the boats beneath. Never thought that there are so many conversations from the Control during landing
Pilots have the best career ever! With spectacular views of different cities they land at.. I remember I would travel for free/mostly sit in first class, since my father worked at the airport.
Je ne savais pas que c'était possible de n'utiliser qu'un seul des reversers, intuitivement j'aurais cru que dans ce cas-là l'avion s'orienterait vers le réacteur avec le reverser actionné. Pour confirmer "speed brakes up" il suffit de voir le levier des speed brakes s'enclencher automatiquement ou y'a-t'il une autre indication ?
Skander Kamoun je crois qu’il y a une autre indication mais lorsqu’ils disent speedbrakes up ça vient du levier je pense. Et si c’est possible pour le reverse mais il faut appliquer une procédure particulière. Ma seul question Guillaume, pourquoi un seul reverse? L’autre était en panne?
Skander Kamoun oui la reverse était en tolérance et n’était pas depannable tout de suite pour assurer le vol, peu de conséquences niveau performance. Peu de ressenti pour nous en pilote et oui on a moyen d’être sûr que les speedbrakes sont up sur l’écran

I suppose this is because of a maintenance problem, if the MEL allows it to fly and use it this way and it is approved by the company, they can use it. Am I right captain Laffon? (Btw, I've never seen this before, how did you manage the steering on landing?)

You landed in HKG all right, but were you able to leave the city considering the current turmoil? Did the French government send armed police officers to guard the plane until it turned around and flew back to CDG?
Ah Guillaume, je crois que c'est l'une des plus belles approches ! Des nuages impressionnants sans turbulences apparemment, et la découverte de la région de Hong Kong ; de magnifiques images ! On pourrait avoir le décollage aussi quand vous repartirez (à moins que ce soit trop tard ?)
Wonderful video. Only left me wondering why you left the taxi clearance out at 11:25? As said its possibly a long one I would loved to hear it. Or was it deliberately left out haha
I visited Hong Kong in the late 1990s. A wonderful place with friendly locals. I call it the New York City of the Orient. My cousin was a civil engineer who worked on the construction of the airport.

Amazing to get a pilots perspective flying through bad weather on approach to HK. Flew out of HK last summer in a electrical storm. Some scary moments but always good knowing your are in the hands of consumate professionals like these guys. Thanks for sharing !
Magnifique video comme d'habitude ! N'étant pas de la partie, je suis surpris de voir qu'on pouvait ne mettre qu'un reverser ! il y a des conditions particulières à cela ? (longueur de piste, conditions météo... etc ..?)
MrGiloine ça pénalise plus au décollage qu’à l’atterrissage en cas d’accélération arrêt. Très peu à l’atterrissage. Ça se briefe bien mais ça n’importe pas notre façon de travailler
@@guillaumelaffon7149 Merci infiniment pour votre réponse Guillaume ! mais pourquoi ne mettre qu'un côté plutôt que les 2 ? bruit ? (il me semble que certains aéroports ne tolèrent pas les réversers à cause du bruit qu'ils occasionnent), économie de carburant ? Une petite question en aparté, lorsqu'un avion bi-réacteur fait un atterrissage sur un seul moteur (suite à un bird-strike par exemple), y a t-il besoin de compenser au niveau de la gouverne ? l'appareil à t-il tendance à tourner (même légèrement) tout seul ? En tous les cas je te remercie encore pour ton superbe travail !
En activant le reverse trust seulement à gauche, l'avion aurait dû tourner non ? J'ai vu la réponse plus bas mais je ne comprends pas le "minimum équipement list"... merci !
Just a quick question! In a year I will be deciding if I want to become a pilot. But I've done a lot of research and came to the conslusing that doing the intergraded course isn't an option for me, because of the financial aspect. So I was thinking about doing it modular, so I can work part-time or full-time. Do you know any pilots or colleague's that fly for an airline by achieving their licences in a modular way? Does Air France for example hire any pilots who got their licenses modular? Thanks!
Aces major airlines still hire modular such as Cathay Pacific. Don’t feel you need to take the integrated route. Sure if you can, do it! It’s an express to the jets. But there is also valuable experience training at any local aero club too that integrated cadets will likely never experience.

Why the right engine thrust reverse only into idle reverse? I see the Captain pointing and saying something about the reverser, don’t speak French, so I assume there was a problem, therefore only deploying the left reverser beyond idle? And I take it, no significant yaw with one engine in idle reverse?
We're flying ✈at 10 000 feet, speaking, and it can even fly for you if you want to. So amazing and humbling to realize what we have achieved 👏 Also seeing this video I can't wait to be traveling again 😊
