I can’t believe you put this on RU-vid. Thank you so much for sharing this. You must of recognised what you did wrong when editing. It was one bad thing after another. The day that you will never forget. I say this for others reading the comments as I am sure you know now. Sometimes you need to stop and have a cuppa or a beer and think about the position you are in and what your next step is. 1: going up the first track with a van in tow without checking it out first. 2: going a different way out the next day. 3: not turning around when you had the chance. 4: being so exhausted you couldn’t let the tyres down and just wanting to get in and rest. 5: the loss Maxtrax would of still been there the next day for you to find. I am so sorry about the fridge slide and door. No one is to blame, it’s one of those things that happen. Reflect on what happened and grow from it. Safe travels and thanks for showing us your bad days as well as your good days.
You should have seen when we were editing it how hysterical we thought the whole day was! You’re so right, when you’re in the moment if feels like your whole world is crashing down but when you take a step back and reflect there’s so much opportunity for learning and growth! Thank you so much for the comment and for sharing in on the fun. 🥰
@@lilandjake Mate I am now 81 & still learning. We have done a lot of tough tracks, stuff up & brake things, plus get the p....r taken out of us by our mates half our age! 😊
Actually love that guys keep it real and show what it’s really like on the road, the good bad and ugly unlike some of the other channels showing only sunshine and rainbows 😂 Crack up Lil having a breakdown but poor Jakey doing all the hard yards 😂 keep up livin the dream team!
Absolutely!!! You’ve got to because it does get tough sometimes! The highs are incredible but the lows can be so tough on the road. Cheers for following along! 🤩
OMG you guys, so sorry you had to go through that hell!! Our anxiety levels rose through roof watching it. Needed a stiff drink to calm the nerves😂 In all seriousness, it's days like this that make you appreciate the good days even more. Keep up the great work and never stop smiling.
WHAT A DAY!! It was such a mission. I’m sorry you had to go through all of that with us. 😂😂 we needed a solid three days of maxo relaxo to recover! You’re so right, we really do appreciate when we have an amazing day or find an amazing spot. Sometimes the risk pays off, sometimes it doesn’t. 😂 thanks so much for watching!! 🧡
I’ve just discovered your channel and I love that your vids are real. Real emotion and real challenges. We are doing a lap right now and we know all too well that it’s not all shits and giggles. I’m stoked you’re showing people all aspects of your journey. 👌
Thanks so much Brad!! So stoked you’re enjoying watching our channel. Gotta keep it real around here hey. How epic are the adventures, the downs make the ups sooo worth it! 🤩🤩
Awesome video Lil and Jake! You guys will learn from your experiences and be better prepared when a similar situation comes along. Loved the rawness of you banter between each. Australia is a tough country and you are experiencing beautiful scenery, the envy of many who will never be able to make that journey. Through your camera, you are the eyes of those who can only gaze on in wonderment of our wonderful country. Keep the video's rolling on.
Thanks a million Peter!! You couldn’t be more right, live and learn we reckon! We count our lucky stars everyday at how grateful we are to be living this dream of travelling Aus!! ✌🏽✌🏽
I have theory with the maxtracks. What if bits of rope were tied to each maxtrack then enough rope was allowed to get to the back of van then as you go past the van pulls the tracks out?
@12 minutes I saw that and thought holy crap 😳... too high even without towing. Hey it's all a learning curve I guess. Unfortunately that's how tracks get destroyed. 💯% avoidable if you lowered pressure all round van included. At no point did I see a deflated tyre
Omg guys!!!!!! What a thrilling episode. Christian and I were in hysterics because your reactions were so you (and lil I would have been like you). Absolute legends that handle difficult times so well. Glad you got out of the negative ok. All our love xxx
Awwww Trevor! ❤️❤️❤️ Thank you so much. That’s so nice of you that you care. It was such an emotional day. 😂 don’t worry, we picked ourselves up and we are back on track! 🤩
I feel your pain with the fridge slide. Broke mine too (but it was my fault). True travel video showing the bad days you had. Without the bad days, the good would not seem so enjoyable. I’m new to watching your channel but you have me hooked now.
Damn, sometimes it’s just a bit of bad luck hey. We obviously got some new slides from Bunnings but we really need to invest in some more heavy duty ones again. You’re absolutely right though, gotta have to bad to appreciate the good more! How epic!!! So glad to have you along for the ride. 👌🏼
Hey guys, im a fairly new subscriber and just going over some of your old videos. just wanted to say thanks for posting even the shit stuff as in when things go wrong. love your temper Jake. its not really even a temper. angry about the slide but its so micro on the grand scheme of things hahaha. keep up the smiles and good work and look forward to the new vids.
It was such a rollercoaster! You’re right, sometimes it just happens.. makes you appreciate all of the good days! Thank you so much for your kind comment, it means the world to us. Glad we can bring some reality to RU-vid! 🧡🧡🧡
Omg 😂😂😂 Love the honestly, and to be honest, I (Lil) was laughing soooo hard when I was watching the video back. We were so dramatic - I think rightly so, but hilarious. 😂
Hang in there guys...be supportive of each other and remember that you are experiencing a wonderful journey that will be with you for the rest of your lives ❤
Sometimes you just have to yell at each other.. but you’re very right, we are so lucky 🤩 and you should of seen us editing and watching back. Sooo funny in hindsight. 😂
Omg! That was stressful to watch can't imagine what it was like for you both. I hope you can eventually look back and laugh. Hats off to you both for showing the not so fun side of caravan travels. 👍
Sorry you had to go through that with us! 😂😂 you should have seen when we were editing this video, we were DYING laughing with how ridiculous that whole saga was. 😅
Phew 😢 what a day, we were exhausted just watching. Soooo glad you found the Max Trax, great work Jake. Please stay off the hard tracks if you can. It's a bit stressful 😅
Talk about carnage, your vids come out on Sundays, and all day I thought it was Sunday, even phoned my wife up to know why she’s working on her day off, but seriously great “ Real Life” with no glitz and glamor only honesty, we’ve all been there,, ( but not as bad “ yet” ) and you handled it with grace. You’ll love port Gregory if you haven’t passed it yet, great spot, for your boat and fishing. Til next Sunday, Saturday or whatever, thanks for the ride.
We totally didn’t mean to realise it today but for some reason we thought Sunday was the 1st so we scheduled it and woke up realising we’d put the wrong date!!!! That is hysterical though, we are so grateful you use us as a calendar reminder. 😂😂 unsure when we will post next week now though considering the vid is going well! You’re so right, though, we hope that we can be the unfiltered version of RU-vidrs travelling Aus!! Happy SATURDAY!! ✌🏽✌🏽
I’d love to know what choice words were said off camera 😂. Tbh, i feel so much better now, i thought this sort of crap only happened to us. This is my first video i have watched of you guys, you just got yourself a new sub, now to catch up on all your previous videos. Thanks for sharing, best wishes for the remainder of your travels.
Some things too terrible for RU-vid, we had to cut a lot out! 😂😂😂 Ohhh don’t worry, there’s a lot to find as you dig back through the channel! Oodnadatta if you want a real cracker, I (Lil) can hardly watch that video back! 😬 Thank you so much for watching and subscribing we are so grateful and promise you won’t be disappointed. 😂😂
New subscriber here and enjoying your videos. As for sand driving, lower tyre pressures (before you hit the sand) on both the tow vehicle "and" your caravan. 15PSI is a good start but consider going lower if required. However, don't do sharp turns or drive too fast , as with lower tyre pressures, you run the risk of rolling the tyre off it's bead/wheel rim. Max Tracks are great and to make finding them easier, tie a "much longer" brightly coloured strap/rope to them, about a 6 metre length should be long enough and lay it out to the side of your bogged vehicle. (At a 90 degree angle) To avoid it getting covered/buried in sand/mud. These Chinese made vans are extremely flexible due to poor design and more so because of poor quality items/materials used in their build, which probably caused your fridge door compartment to "spring open", (despite being locked) on rough and bumpy tracks. Be mindful of this problem as it.could very well happen again. Enjoy your experiences, good and bad and everything in between. 😊👍👍
Thank you so much for subscribing and sharing so many useful tips! You couldn’t be more right about the PSI, sometimes we don’t realise and it’s too lake! Agree with the maxtrax straps, the ones they give you are way to short, still lose them every time. We’ve started just putting tie down straps on them and it’s made such a difference! 👌🏼🤩
Hi guys, try not to stress too much in these situations. Drop tyre pressures . Don't be lazy it makes life so much easier and fun. Love your setup and look forward to more videos. Your a funny couple and great people. Sorry you bought a ford Ranger but have an awesome time.
Absolutely, the emotions were high being the first day back on the road after sooo long! You could not be more right, in hindsight, we should have dropped them! Thanks for much for watching, even if we do have a Ranger (Jake would kill me for saying that) 😂😂😂
Bought our first 22ft caravan in 1976 as young newly married couple. Had the whole centre support come down in the caravan on our way to Broome. We had to weld the support into place. Roads up there unsealed in those days. Then to 4x4 camper trailer for many years and now a hybrid. Check, check and final check before getting in the car. We all learn from experience on the road. Enjoying your content and its fantastic to see so many young people enjoying our beautiful country. Subbed. Couple rolls of duct tape are essential. Just think in a while you’ll remember this and laugh.
Oh my leonie! What a horror story! I couldn't imagine what it would have been like! Glad to hear your in a hybrid now! I hope you like it! Yes ductape has saved our lives more times than we would like to admit! Thanks for the comment and Thanks for watching!
Just watched this video, good luck and I wish better things for you in the future. I add the comment "Don't blame you partner as the driver YOU! are responsible for ensuring your vehicle is fit for travel, you should have checked all doors before driving off!!!!" Good luck😊
I'm sorry guys but this is the best episode ever, I feel for you both the troubles you've been through and all but you will see the funny side when or if you ever get old like me. Keep the journey alive, you have got it ! Surely. cheers Michael
Excellent vid , we all have them nightmare days. Always let the tyres down, even if I’m not towing anything I air down at the sight of soft sand. It’s easier on you and the gear
You’re absolutely right! Usually we are the first to say let the tires down but we were exhausted and not thinking straight!! Had our time again and we’d be down at 8psi. 😂 Happy Easter Brett! 🤩
Hi guys regards tyre pressure, you will be amazed at how low you can drop pressure and not damage anything. We run 10 and 15 psi in our old gq which is heavy but not towing . Also the van needs to be low as well. Anyway you’ll get that worked out. As well as bumps and rattles you’ll get some bush pinstripes which show you’ve been trying. Keep your chins up guy’s experience gives you confidence cheers Laurie
You’re totally right, some really good tips there. Still have so much to learn but slowly and surely! It’s all about the experience, and the many, MANY pinstripes that come with it! 😂
It doesn't seem like it at the time but it's all part of the adventure and the challenge of overcoming adversity. You will have some great stories to tell your grandkids. 😂😂😂 Love your never say die attitude Jake😊
Wow that was carnage guys😞 I can’t believe that no one stopped to help you out. On the bright side lucky bay is beautiful but a bit windy when we visited. I hope you stop in at Gladstone bay on your way up north it’s well worth a night or two. Safe travels and keep smiling 😊
It doesn’t get much more hectic than that does it Dave! There was actually no one else on the track, we didn’t see one soul the whole drive between camps. If anything, I think that proves it wasn’t the best idea. 😂😂😂 Isn’t it stunning, at least the rock shelf protects bigger waves for coming in at the snorkelling spot quite a bit. Absolutely!! That part of the coast is stunning!!! Thanks so much for your comment and keeping up with our travels. ✌🏽✌🏽
Hey guys what a day! You definitely love pushing the limits. Both I and wifeeeee love watching your episodes. That's the second time the camp host has told a RU-vidr to camp on the beach. WhileWe'reYoung were bogged in the same exact spot at Lucky Bay and turned around 100m back to the camp grounds. I think the camp host gets a kick out of it.
Thanks guys for watching!! 🤍 How hilarious is that! We saw another 5 cars at least get bogged there!! I reckon you could be into something, the sand was soooo soft, I don’t know why he was recommending us go there. 😂😂
I know your pain it’s part of owning is fixing and making stronger, I had my door fall off on the first night of camping trip and it was held together with gaffer tape till I got to a hardware store
So true!!! You learn and improve! Glad you got to sort it but we get it, you’ve got to be innovative when you’re a while away from a town with supplies! 😅😅 happens to us far too often! 😂
You guys are awesome❤ thanks for including your true selves and raw emotions👌🏻 We all have those days all you wanna do is bury ya head in the sand and be done with it!!🤬🤬🤬 That’s where you just crank up the music, have a few beverages to try n chill. How the hell you kept your cool is amazing cause I would’ve had to bleep every 3 seconds🤪🤪🤪 Shit happens re your fridge door. It sucks dogs balls to the max Those max trax are like finding treasure🤩🤩🤩
You know that’s what you’ll always get around here!! Two lunatics baring all! 😂 Absolutely, we did have to cut a couple more f bombs out because we were not impressed at all. 😅 Can you believe Jake found them!! Talk about never giving up. 🤩🤩
@@lilandjake he’s a trooper but he’s like me, stubborn in wanting results and determined not to give up. I’m disappointed with some of the comments people are leaving, like they’re the full professionals and you guys are kids and have no idea. Who gives a shit if you make mistakes. Have a laugh about or cry and move on. That’s life and experience. 🤣🤣
She says he never gives up and he found them you really got bulged down and the hand's to prove it Congratulations you made it out And how are your hands doing now Fireman 🔥🔥🔥
Sorry things didn't work out for you there. We can certainly make mistakes that's for sure. Have a safe trip out there. From William Mount Gambier South Australia 🇦🇺
Cheers William, we really appreciate that. Since this, things have been running pretty smoothly thankfully. 😅 How we loved Mount Gambier, gosh that feels like a lifetime ago!! Lil & Jake ✌🏽✌🏽
Make yourself up a trailer hub with a 13 inch tyre welded to a bit of RHS. You attach it to the draw bar on a pivot (like a big arse jockey wheel). You can then disconnect and either snatch or winch the trailer out of trouble. I did it on my camper trailer works a treat
I've had days where I was bogged in shell grid for 8 hours. The beach was called the Dogfence near NundarooSouth Australia. Even a tornado came through and picked up my sleeping bag and took it into the ocean. Car absolutely demolished by the bush after that, trying to find another route further up the beach. The 100 series land cruiser was pin striped to hell. Finally went fishing and caught a Mulloway. Taking a photo the fish fell out of my arms and a 10/0 hook went straight through the middle of my thumb. Had to pack up at midnight and drive to Ceduna hospital to get it out 😂. When shit goes wrong it can go bloody wrong lol.
Wow, what a day, or a couple from hell!! How’s your thumb now? I don’t think either of us would cope with the hook through the finger… 🤮 Lucky you made it out the other side and hopefully you can have a laugh about it now. 😂
We were running 20 at the car and 25 at the van then when we got bogged went down to 10 in the car and 15 in the van! We usually drop down the tires much sooner but the day beat us and we were exhausted! 😅 Happy Easter Dave! 🤩🤩
Sh!t happens, don't freak out, stop, pull your chairs out sit down, have a drink or a smoke, and assess the situation, work out a solution, going at it with high emotions will make you do the wrong thing.
I couldn't believe what an absolute crap day you guys had, if wasn't for the heart felt emotions shown, I wouldn't have believed it wasn't staged. I guess you've learnt the lessen the hard way that when driving in WA's dunes or on the beaches, always, always, take the time (10 min) to air down, especially when towing, air down your van as well, it was obvious to those watching and hopefully yourselves when you were editing that the wheels on the van weren't rolling over the top of the sand but almost being dragged through it, the van was acting as an anchor. Lucky Bay (Nth) is notorious for it's soft sand, research where you are going. This is the first video of yours that I've watched, so I'm not sure if you have a drone or not but if not, get one, they are not only good for content but also for scouting tracks ahead which might have saved some pinstripes (and maybe your fridge slide) if you'd used it to see whether you'd be able make it out the way you hoped or be able to turn around at Sandy Cape. Anyway, this isn't meant as a knock down, loved true emotions, keep the the real life content coming and enjoy yourselves out there and continue to learn and grow your channel.
It doesn’t get much worse than that does it!! We keep it real around here, that’s for sure, ugly tears and all. Got to live and learn though hey! 😅 Yeah, we’ve got a drone! Use it all the time but that’s a great idea to use it for a bit of track investigation! 👌🏼👌🏼 Thanks so much for the comment!! 🤩🤩
dang! what doesnt kill ya right?! awesome effort. Thanks for sharing, we're looking to buy the same van so watching your does and donts carefully. If you can.. maybe grab the insta360 x2 or 3 it'll change your video and editing world
Totally Deno!! You should definitely, we do really love it, sometimes we just push it a little too hard. 😂😂 Gosh, we were looking at videos made with one the other day. They look epic!!! 🤩
Do you guys reduce pressures on your van tyres? I let mine down to 15-20 psi and it makes a huge difference. Yours look like they're ploughing and barely spinning
Hey!! Thanks for the tip, yeah we always drop our tires on the van when we drop the car. Most of the time the problem is when the van comes out of the cars tracks! 😅😅😅
Hey!! Thanks for the tip, yeah we always drop our tires on the van when we drop the car. Most of the time the problem is when the van comes out of the cars tracks! 😅😅😅
Absolutely Lisa! What a day it was, one we won’t forever for a while that’s for sure! You’re definitely right, we are usually the first to drop the tires but I think after the day we’d had we were too exhausted and weren’t thinking! Cheers for watching! 🤩🤩🤩
Absolutely David, we agree. When you are forking out so much money for something brand new we have found it’s easy for the companies to forget about you once the money has been finalised! Happy Easter! 😊
Tie the max tracks to the front and rear bars using those straps. I couldn't believe the whinging. Man, I'd be walking with all that. Cudos though, you kept your cool and kept at it. I reckon you could've dropped your tyre pressures down more. Oh, and my comment - as straight as you guys are with what goes on. Nice change from the rose coloured glass presentations.
Got to be real careful under 10psi - to much wheel spin and high temps can start to delaminate your tyres from the inside. Had it happen to a set of Mickey Ts when I dropped to 5psi on a real hot summers day in powder like sand. Ended up waiting for the sun to go down and the sand temp to lower before we got out!
Yes chef, No Chef….“ Stress less pet it’s alright I know what your going through “ not really I just like saying that when someone is having a teary ! So are how long have you been on your lap around Australia Lil? Sandy Cape is just North Of Perth. I still can’t believe you have to pay so much to camp and you’ve said it costs Eight hundred a “week” to travel around Australia$$$ I know I’m still living in the eighties right😅. Anyhow it’s all good, I’m a newbie here and I look forward to watching your travels. 😊 Cheers thanks for the entertainment.
On the 9th we will have been on the road for 6 months!! Wild how quickly it’s going. Yeah, we have found it pretty expensive as we cruise along the coast! 😅 Thank you so much for watching and commenting! Can guarantee you’ll get some entertainment around here! 😂😂
Ohhhh you know our struggle! Don’t think we’d make that same mistake again but you’re right through, those memories are forever in our face with those pin stripes, we won’t be forgetting that trip for a very long time. 😂
Thanks for the tip! We are usually the first ones to drop them down but we were exhausted and made the rookie error of not dropping them further! 😅 You live and learn I suppose. 😂
Get yourself a steel spike around 8 to 10 mm put a handle on it and it will find your tracks so much quicker and easier just run along the tyre track and poke the rod in along the way until you hit solid the best way to locate your tracks, and lower your tyre pressures big time to 4 psi if you have to you have a compressor no big deal stay safe keep up the great videos
Gee Guys Wait till you have been bogged for two weeks in mud. Yes those max tracks can go 3 to 4 feet under the sand. Fantastic reminded us of our shitty days. In the mud we even tried to winch them out ( no go snapped them ) Go the digging Legendary Good on you Guys 😂
Barry!! That sounds bloody awful, I think we can hold off on experiencing that for a little while! 😂 Didn’t Jake do a ripper job finding them, never gave up, and the hands to prove it! 😂 Happy Easter! 🤩
If you watch any of our other videos you’ll know we’re always the first to drop the tires, this day beat us and we were EXHAUSTED, not thinking straight! 😅 Happy Easter! 🤩🤩
You poor buggers. You may already know this but you can drop tyre pressures a lot more than most people think. I reckon even 10psi for your rig and 12psi on your Van? Worth a short test if you have a compressor. I hope you have an awesome time travelling. Eventually!!!
Thanks Jamie! Yea tyre pressures are key aren't they, I think in the end we were at about 15 on the car and 20 on the van, but we should have been at that from the start! Thanks for watching!
at the begining when you said that your taking the hard way out off sandy cape. they are going to be up shit creek .then lucky bay with a camper on the same day . they will be lucky if they dont get divorced
Loved the amateur hour. " we can't be bothered putting our tyres down". Bang bogged. Let's put Maxtrax down and not even drive on them. Slowdown, take your time and think before you do something or stay on bitumen and caravan parks. Sorry for your down day.
