Thanks dude for all the demos and reviews you do for us. The Shiva is a great lead amp. Tremonti loves the amp for leads.

geat video!! nice to see the shiva on your channel. i found it good enough for modern metal, although im not a huge fan of the clank clank type chug, i prefer a bit more rounded and i loved that from the shiva. i had a shiva 20th about 2 years ago, sold it to fund a rev blue uberschall. i miss the shiva a lot, so this week i found one again, being delivered this week !! so excited . the chains and even tremonti has uded one within alterbridge so good enough for me lol. best of luck

I have an old Shiva with EL-34’s, 80 watt combo. It’s not a metal amp it’s so much more. It’s great for Tool and Alice in chains, sounds great boosted with a tubescreamer but even better boosted with a klon klone. Or boost your klon with a flat eq tubescreamer into the dirty channel at like 12:00 gain and WOW. Also takes pedals really well, more headroom in the clean channel so if you want to boost a Rat with a tubescreamer sounds great, the rat really provides the compression the dirty channel has. Awesome amp. I just wish it had a mids control on the clean channel. Only drawback. It’s so heavy in the low mids.

I think it can do modern metal with a modern overdrive like a Pro Tone and or an eq to work as a high pass filter to give it that tighter djent like low end. This amp is for those that like dry open tones. The Pitbull you got is going to be very dry and dynamic

I use this amp Jarrod but I play a lot of classic rock, Alice in Chains, Maiden, Rush, etc. I don't play a lot of the heavy stuff that you do. Love your playing by the way! I have heavier amps for that vibe. Still can't wait to get the Revv. For 70s, 80s and early 90s as you mentioned do you think this amp is better than the Marshall JVM? I almost got that or a DSL. This spring will be the Revv Generator for my do it all rock to metal. I still have my Archon 100 and a modified Dual Rectifier that is a beast.

I have a silverback Shiva 1x12. The cleans are great, but too clean a transient for what I like live (prefer more of a Vox thing). The low mids on the gain are great, but I have to hit it with a drive pedal to take away some harshness. Did you find the latter to be true?
@TONEWARSgearshow
@TONEWARSgearshow Год назад
Good question. I basically hit it with a boast to make it more responsive and tighter. I don't know if I remember it being harsh or not. Sorry, I wish I could be more of help to you but I don't remember it being harsh. Everybody has different tastes though. I totally respect that

I thought it sounded great with the overdrive and without for a nice crunch tone. It’s a refined JCM basically. You don’t need that much gain in a mix or recording otherwise it gets convoluted. I wish I tried a Bogner. Looking forward to trying the Synergy Ecstasy in the future.

This amp isn't exactly made for metal. Isn't the best metal option but it would absolutely do the trick. My experience with this amp is in the rock n roll community and I can say for that, it is among the very best. I've been micing up one of these amps for nearly a decade now. And yes the same one the 20th anniversary. The toilex looks sick. But this amp has never given us problems, it always does what its supposed to. And it sounds great doing it. We used to use my engl 412 pro cab but in the last 5 or 6 years he started using a single v30 cab. Looks kinda silly having that head on top a 1 12 but it works. Sounds fantastic.

@smeemusic
@smeemusic Год назад
@@Bognerman14 we only ever serviced the tubes in it once and we stayed with kt88's. The way I have been lead to understand kt88's is they are lower powered. El34's apparently have more headroom. To be clear I'm not 100% sure about this. If you get your tone with your preamp section and not your power section (meaning cranking the hell out of the amp till the power section is clipping), you will likely not notice much difference from different tubes. Let me ask. What is it you're looking for that you want to change tubes? I mean if youjuat wanna try something different, go for it. If you're looking to change your tone, this will not be an effective option.
@Bognerman14
@Bognerman14 Год назад
@@smeemusic HI, everything I know is that KT88s have a lot more hear room than EL34s. I was looking for that creamy mids of EL34s and closer to a Marshall vibe at times. Trying to find the best speaker match. Love it with Redbacks, creamback and English V30s.
@smeemusic
@smeemusic Год назад
@@Bognerman14 sry I did know one has more headroom than the other just had it backwards. unfortunately tubes won't provide a different mid response or curve or change the top or bottom end. If you're looking for more creamy mids, maybe try the celestion creamback. I think they named that one deliberately lol. Yeah the speaker choice will certainly get you some results. I've spent hours researching different speakers for what I want in my tone. Dv77 seems to be the speaker for me these days. They have a fuller low mid range. Kinda what I'm into personally. But yeah there's a couple different creambacks. Maybe one of those will nail it for ya. Maybe even a greenback would be a solid option. Especially if you've been running v30's.
@Bognerman14

@@smeemusic Thanks. I am running it thru one cab with Redbacks and UK V30s and sounds great plus I am building another cab this week with Creambacks and Redbacks. I love low mids too and the Shiva has that plus I like the thickness and fullness of the Redback. I like the DV77 too. A lot of music I love and play today was written on amps like Marshalls with EL34s. Like 6L6s too. There are many out there who make these things sound killer. For me, the Bogner sound is much too congested sounding in the mids and overly dark and smooth. I like hot Marshall style tones…aggressive and cutting with that mid range roar and kerrang. I just can’t gel with them at all. Not my flavor. Ironic, cause Cantrell is one of my favorite guitarists ever. Love his recorded tones.

See, I’m the opposite. To me a good Marshall clobbers a bogner. Marshall has so much more open, raw and aggressive tone. If you had a two guitar band with a Marshall and bogner, the bogner would really struggle to compete. It’s not a quality thing, just the bogner sound is dialed heavily in the low mids and they don’t cut like a Marshall.
