I'm a 16 year old boy who just lost my grandma, this was her favourite song and the day before she died I called her and played this song while singing it on piano. A week later I'm doing it in her funeral, worst and best day of my life since I've never actually completed the song without failing p, this time i didn't fail. I know she's up there and smiling at me, proud.
I love queen but I never understood why they got hung up on making it sound exactly like the studio. I admire these kids for taking a good stab at getting that opera bit in there. Well done!
Lead guy is really good. I like how he played around with the melody instead of forcing himself to reach notes that he really can't sustain. Freddie himself did this a lot on stage.
It takes some guts to even a attempt a song like this-lots of tricky falsetto bits and some serious pop culture presence. And then everyone absolutely nailed it. Great work!
MAD respect for this. Is it perfectly executed? No. Is it an INSANELY hard song to even attempt? Yes. I know professional musicians that would never even attempt to do this live let alone with a 4 piece in high school. This is like summiting K2 in front of your peers when you're like 17. It's THAT scary. 11/10 Hell yes!
I was already blown away and then... he had the gong... he had the gong!!! Holy crap well done gentlemen. There are major musicians who would not attempt this. It's one of the most challenging songs in rock!
Guys as an established musician and an avid Queen fan, you are the first band ANYWHERE I've seen to pull off the operatic section of BR live! VERY GOOD COVER! Congrats
The Queen members didn't make an effort to perform the middle section live, opting instead to rely on a pre-recorded version before resuming at the heavier segment. Great job, everyone.
I have so much respect for these guys because this song is certainly not easy. The instruments were fantastic and the singer did well. As a vocalist, I would say that the guy did well. He was a bit out of his range but like I already mentioned this song is difficult. The pitch got a bit rough on higher notes and less stable but that could be from nerves, we've all been there at one point. I'm impressed and these lads did a great job 👍❤
When I was a senior in high school my band played this song I'm so happy there isn't a video of that. These kids should.be happy that there is. They kicked ass.
As someone who has been playing for more than four decades, I must say I'm thoroughly impressed. Congratulations on your victory! I wasn't anticipating it to be this outstanding.
Very well done, a few pitch issues, but musically this was an awesome attempt at this very difficult song. Congrats on the win, you earned it. Clearly you all practiced this countless times.
Been a bass player and session musician for 40 + years.... Guys this if f**king awesome! Such an iconic song and to do it live from start to finish, wow!! Well played and well done!! Outstanding!
Holy crap! This is one of the best performances of this song by pretty much any band. This is not at all an easy song to sing or play. You guys are amazingly talented, like super crazy talented. Keep up the awesome work!
I really think if the sound recording were through the mixing desk instead of an audience recording, his voice would be shown to all here how very well he was singing it (and of the band!) Top work!
idk if you've played any instruments before but especially at that age this was amazing. not close to terrible, 99.9999% of people cant even come close.
@@JakeM-t8l I'm uncertain about your prior musical endeavors, but particularly at such a young age, your performance was truly exceptional. It far exceeded any notion of inadequacy and surpassed the abilities of the overwhelming majority.
I competed in many talent shows during my high school days, with a magic/illusion show. We were the first non-musical act to ever win the Mid-South Talent Fair (winners from several states). I'm just glad we didn't have to compete against this group. Amazing job guys, loved it !
They were outstanding. Was prepared to hear high school caliber whatever. They pulled that together beautifully. One huge clue to their accomplishment .. their classmates listened. They were not the typical congregation where immaturity usually shows up. Great job, guys.
I think that was the best i ever seen from the singer with the opera take to rock iam amazed on how he ranged it. The band great . I would love to see it in a studio
As someone who was basically FORCED to hear this one seven times daily at an old job, I went from liking it to mildly despising it to ROYALLY HATING it. So even when I hear it in passing, I'm forced to calm the preponderance of bile in my stomach. HOWEVER, this one is well done. Dig the four-part harmonies. And the guitar playing is SOLID, especially the lead breaks. Brian May is smiling.
ive been a musician for a little over 5 years and i can say this is just amazing the singers voice is amazing and i can just say the middle part is my favorite and i aploud them for making the cover so good
Great reviews here. With a mixing desk and some other theatrics. Boom, this would go viral. Given the setting, it was on point. Impressive discipline to play together and fairly tight. The drummer worked hard and was focussed. This band is an example to others.
I to am a musician for 40 years and also won two places in the same talent show in my senior year with dust in the wind for 1st and stairway to heaven for 3rd back in 1978. So I know exactly what it feels to win this as a kid. These guys pulled off a very hard song to do and did an amazing job doing it. This brought tears to my eyes and brought back memories. Way to go guys!!!!!!!!
Everyone killed it!! Especially the vocalists that hit the high notes!! I'm literally impressed. This definitely has to made it to the students' topic of conversation every year when there's a talent show at that school
It requires a certain level of courage to even consider performing a song with challenging falsetto parts and significant cultural significance. But then, everyone executed it flawlessly. Well done on a fantastic job!
Well done! That performance was near flawless. However, I thought you guys sounded a bit like Freddie Mercury. Do your interpretation of the song. Otherwise, well done.
Random vids are usually not worth clicking on. Especially when I'm watching something amusing. Every once in a while I'll take a peek and usually exit within seconds, but this video caught my attention right away. And I can honestly say that they were pretty dam good. Each one of them did a great job! I hope I will see more vids of them and possibly other talented students. Good job guys!
