Nicely done ! The reason you found a little compass in the box is that the watchmakers used to use the compass to detect magnetism on a watch or its parts.

this tool has a specific watchmaking use, I didnt see any reference to the restoration of the functioning parts of this tool, a nice varnished box and shiny components are very nice but if the tool isn't functional then whats the point ?

Hi.You are not missing those small punches at 0.22. This Boley staking set could also be used as a jewel press with an extra tool. This is not setup with this tool, therefor no small punches in these area.
