If we look from another side, humans are destructive and vicious beings, capable of destroying everything in their path; we don't need to hunt, but we're still hunting animals, just for sadistic pleasure, we don't need to cut down forests, but instead of trying to find a better alternative, we destroy them out of greed, we don't need to pollute everything around us including ourselves, but out of our laziness we refuse to do anything else. Humanity is a two-faced coin, we're both creative and destructive, helpful and cruel, productive and lazy, that's another reason why we're fascinating. And here You are saying "wow, how deep" to a phrase about chemical warfare used by insects, instead of trying to become someone who will change the world enough to make this phrase completely unusable if applied to humanity, You embrace all horrible aspects of Your species, because it's way easier than doing anything.
