I think the "UMA" is actually "LIMA" - "the legend "Lima" below the bust signifies that this coin was struck from silver that was looted from the Spanish colonies by a British privateer, most likely Admiral Anson."

Thank for that great information. My first ‘pirate’ treasure 🏴‍☠️ 😆

I concur - I have a the identical silver sixpence coin but a 1746, and it clearly is stamped "LIMA" too.

@@thescottishdetectorist Help me out with the History, you mentioned George II's Son, unleashing genocide upon the Highland's Clans. History is one of my degrees, along with Sociology and Journalism. I continue Research and Studies, but have limited Resources for History of European subjects. A few years ago I discovered that the DNA of Britain reveals that the Paternal (male line) represents less than 2% of the original English DNA in the current males of Britain. The Maternal (mother line) is in-tact. (Welsh is normal, it is just "England") What this reflects is a removal of all the existing English males (adult, children, and babies) were removed, (the subject is absent in the History records) and the "Mainstream Academics" mention the DNA with very little comment. (Very British behavior, if it doesn't fit the model or is controversial, ignore/deny). --------------------------- (I will briefly explain): I'm neither British nor do I subscribe to "Mainstream Academia", I am American of Irish lineage (County Kerry) and I'm an "Authentic Academic", i.e. I follow the "Standards of Science and Research" which forbid holding Beliefs, Theories, Opinions, in the Research, Studies, and general works of Academic and Research. Mainstream Academia's Paradigm and Timeline is based on a "19th Century Theory" in its focal fact foundation and all that doesn't fit their Paradigm Model is presumed inaccurate and avoided, ignored, ... ___________________________ Thus, I'm looking for a clue to which Monarchy undertook that eradication of English males. The early English, like Irish and Welsh all shared DNA from the Basque. We Irish that avoided the Vikings and other invasions still do. The early Romans, the Vikings, Anglos, Saxons, Jutes, and Normans, all that migrated or invaded Britain were all of Germanic origin. Thus they had a desire to control the whole area and resolve any threat to their power by eliminating the Scotts, Irish, and Welsh resistance. Due to the current Monarchy still being of Germanic Origin, and the early 20th Century WW's they made efforts to disassociate from their lineage and "I'm thinking any of the past harsh actions also was removed from records". Although, it may have been removed by an earlier Monarch. Its a question that I have yet to find an answer to and it also reflects on the idea that those Ages referred to as "the Dark Ages", are only Dark due to records having been removed. It all amounts to the fact that the few whom control the information, control the masses, whether in 1100, 1600, or 2022. Thanks for any leads you may offer and "Happy Hunting!". Wow, Peruvian silver via Spain to Perthshire, quite savage to think how much blood was spilled for these coins.
@kean4917
@kean4917 2 года назад
The coins were minted in 1745-46 using a large hoard of silver captured from the Spanish by Admiral Anson's squadron operating in the Pacific Ocean. The word "Lima" engraved under the bust is a reference to the fact that the Spanish silver was being shipped from Lima back to Spain when it was intercepted by Anson.

This is actually a Lima coin denoting spanish silver. The obverse side of the coin with the portrait of King George II, facing to the right. The inscription around the portrait reads "GEORGIVS II DEI GRATIA," which translates to "George II, by the Grace of God." On the reverse side of the coin, there is a crowned shield at the center, which is surrounded by four crowned cruciform shields. The crowned shield features the arms of England, Scotland, and Ireland, which are supported by the lion and unicorn, representing the United Kingdom. The inscription around the shield reads "MAG. BRI. FR. ET. HIB. REX. 1745," which translates to "King of Great Britain, France, and Ireland, 1745." The edge of the coin features the inscription "DECVS ET TVTAMEN ANNO REGNI DECIMO NONO," which translates to "an ornament and a safeguard in the nineteenth year of the reign."

Also, a shout out to your other commenters adding their additional historical wisdom; love the historical facts and real life pirate lore. Again, great video, especially the field and sky footage. Thanks for the sharing and education as we don’t see these finds in the the states.

With regard to the lead object at 21:00, it makes me think of doing the gravestone rubbings that we did as children to expose the writing on old stones. I wonder what would be exposed if you threw a piece of paper on top and ran a flat crayon over the top?

Hi Jamie. Glad you’ve missed me!! I went for the extended (cos I’m 6ft 3.5” tall!) Maximus in Black for about £28 plus postage. It’s got a proper handle on the end instead of a T-bar. It could be lighter, the lip on the back of the shovel head does catch the ground when you go spade deep and it could be a few inches longer for my height, but it’s better than what I had. I’d consider the evolution brand. It’s around the £70 mark from Regton but seems to be the ultimate spade to get. I might treat myself if they have them at Detectival in September as I’d prefer to get a feel for them
