In Part 1 of the Igavanias, we’ll look at the Bonus Playable Characters from all major versions of Castlevania: Symphony of the Night and Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night. These modes can bring a fresh experience to a well-worn game, but researching all relevant information online can be a nightmare. I tried to gather all that information here to help future-proof these game modes. This is the first in a series revising my Season 0 video.

15:20 You forgot the Bat Wing Smash differences & using in in the Speed comparison. Speedrunners love using this move but the version differences effect how the input & its functionality work. If I remember correctly, the OG PSX will stop mid-flight unless the command is inputted again mid-flight using MP while Saturn keeps going nonstop until you hit something (or stop it yourself?).

@@razorvolare Thanks, I didn't know about the Bat Wing Smash at all! From the Castlevania wiki, it sounds like you're correct. The OG version stops unless you re-input the spell, but the SAT version keeps going. They'll both stop if you hit something or run out of MP. I'll test this out to verify and edit my comment. Is it faster that the wolf's top speed? Or just more reliable?

Awesome review of these awesome characters. Loved that you mentioned the Axe Lord armor. I've recently talked about SOTN myself for all the versions, so I'm still pretty much in SOTN mood and this video quenched my thirst!

Cool. And no, Mirror of Fate is not a metroidvania. I wouldn't touch anything related to the reboot if i were you. I would say my favourites bonus characters are: Julius mode of DoS, for the side-story aspect of it, and Albus mode of OoE, for how fun it is.

I'm looking forward to checking those ones out again. I don't think I got far with Albus last time because I didn't really know how to control him. And that Julius mode had Julius, Alucard, and Yoko all playable, right? I only hear good things about that mode.

The whip upgrade you Richter is using is the Morning Star, not the Vampire Killer. The actual whip is it, while the chain flail is the upgrade.

Do you mean that there's a manual or something that lists Richter using the Morning Star, or that mechanically it functions the same as the Morning Star in another game like Rondo? I'm trying to verify your correction, but the Castlevania Wiki sometimes lacks information.

Luck mode Alucard does get easier access to a mobility option normal Alucard is unlikely going to experience: Endless Knockback. It happens if Alucard loses over half his health in one hit and is commonly used to skip Death from stealing his starting gear.

For Bloodstained, isn't Gremory also a playable character? I know she's playable in Boss Revenge Mode, same with Bloodless, but can you play the base game as her?

No, unless it's EXTREMELY well hidden, you can't play as Gremory.

15:45 I feel like playing as Miriam is alot more like playing as Soma due to the whole shard system basically being the soul system but I feel like I'm in the minority here.
