THOSE BIND-UPS ARE SO ELEGANTLY BOUND-UP. I'm actually surprised you didn't choose a bind-up of your entire shelf for question 6 XD THANKS FOR TAGGING ME THIS LOOKS FUN IMMA DO IT!
"How hard is it to keep a book in good condition?" RIGHT!? I've lent out books and gotten them back with all kinds of fun stuff smeared in them and they were also ripped to shreds! Where are you reading?! In a lawn mower that mows cafeteria floors!? D:
I could actually see how a book could end up in really poor condition if you loan it out, especially if it's paperback. If I gave a paperback book to my little brother, for instance, he would probably return it with the spine all cracked and falling apart from where he bent the book back on itself. The pages would also likely be riddled with dog-ears because he doesn't believe in book-marks, and I expect they would be bent and torn in countless other places as a result of multiple droppings. Some people may even highlight or underline things and make little notes in the margins. And finally, I could even imagine a book being returned to me with fire damage if I loaned it to a smoker.... Everyone stay the f___ away from my books.
When someone has my books I feel like they're throwing it around the room and stabbing knives in my book. But really they're just turning corners on my pages, which is just as bad in my opinion.
LOL I was thinking when is he gonna mention Ms. Peregrine's? He's gotta! And there you go, any tag that asks something about favorite books, I imagine that will be Jesse's go to answer for at least one question if not more.
Ugh you're so right! Like whenever they come back with the book and ITS STICKY. Like how!?! Of all the things they could have done to my book, they bring it back sticky.
The thing that stood out to me in this video is when you lend a book to friend and it comes back in horrible condition. I'm with Jesse, first of all buy me a new copy. Secondly, what are you doing where you ruin MY book? How do books get in such horrible condition? Who is doing this?? It makes me so sad 😭
Funny story, I loaned a copy of a book to a friend while she went on holiday to florida back in like 2005...well, there was a hurricane and all she found of it was the front cover floating in the hotel's outdoor pool the next day. HAHA! Oops. I can't even remember if she replaced it for me now...
Okay, I have to say this, the Bible for non-fiction is BRILLIANT! I don't read non-fiction either so...the Bible it is. It's an important book. I don't read non-fiction other than it. It works out perfectly. :)
I'm reading it right now and I don't want to finish it yet coz it's just sooooooooo awesome! I can't wait for Blue Lily, Lily Blue and the fourth book!
Tricky tricky on the first question :P And how do books get ruined. One example is reading in the front seat of a Volkwagen Van, and originally keeping the book behind the seat on the platform the seat sits on, start to read it while sitting on the parking lot, and unknown to you, your father puts the dog's water dish where you use to keep the book. Then, without looking, you put the book in the dog's water dish and don't notice until you get back to the camp site. And that is the story about my most damaged book. At least it was still readable.
I am similar to you. I loved to read books in elementary school and in middle school, but then in high school I didn't read much. Now that I'm in college, I read a TON. I also work at a bookstore. I'm glad I'm not the only one. :P
I feel exactly the same way about borrowing out books! I've had so many bad experiences, and now I rarely borrow my books out to anyone, and am very sensitive about anyone even touching them. One thing I absolutely despise about the condition of my books after being lent out is dog. eared. pages. Has anyone ever heard of bookmarks? Also, I completely agree. Ms. Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children is my favorite book of all time. :)
Once I let one of my friends borrow a book of mine and her baby sister found it and glued the pages together! Thankfully she got me another copy to replace it (:
Fun tag! Funny story, so I lent my coworker a book recently, and he told me I might not get it back in the same condition. I think I must have given him a look, because he came in the next day and told me he ordered a new copy, haha! I don't know how people destroy books so easily....they're so precious how could they do such a thing!?
Oh, I let a friend borrow my brand new copy of House of Hades one time and she brought it back with drink stains all over the once beautiful hardcover....thankfully I took the jacket off before I gave it to her!
Once, when my brother was angry, he kicked my book across the room and the cover got all torn up. It was (and might still be) my favourite looking cover so I immediately forced him to pay for it and the very next day I went out and bought a new one. (I let him keep the torn one though)
haha that bind up... Thanks for tagging me!!! I'm looking forward to doing this one! well... not really. because some of these are really hard. HOW DO YOU CHOOSE?! haha I may have to create some bind ups like you did... hehe
Hey Jesse I think a book you would like is Every You, Every me by David Levithan. It's a really good book I loved it. And it has pictures in it. There was a photographer who worked with the author to make the book so yeah, It's about photographs. It's wonderful so yeah I think you would like it ☺️.
Haha your bloopers and derp faces make me laugh so hard. I am a huge fan of yours! one of my life goals is to go to BEA and meet you, christine (polandbananasbooks), Kat (katytastic) , Catriona (little book owl) , and maurine (marine keevey) I also really love Cherie Moore. Please check out her channel. She is amazing. She is like the girl version of you. She even kinda looks like you. Lol
I think I only read Twilight and Eragon in high school. I let a friend borrow one of the Twilight books. Then she let someone borrow it. It just kept being passed around and ended up being destroyed. BUT the original person to borrow it bought me a new copy.
Now I have a question, asking them to buy you a new one is fine in most cases but what would you do if it was signed?! (I don't even want to think about that. I normally never even lend out my signed books for that reason. lol) Also I LOVE the new Harry Potter bind up!!!!!! :DDD
I didn't even think of the Bible XD when you asked which nonfiction book would you choose I was like "have I even read any nonfiction books?" And then you said the Bible and I was like "oh yeah, good choice XD!"
I feel terrible because right now I am borrowing my friend's copy of Miss Peregrines Home for Peculiar Children and it has one of those annoying cracks in the spine!!!!
"i dont understand how books get ruined" me, an intellectual, that drops a book in the hot tub once in a while, is too poor to ever buy a hardcover but can't read a single paperback without cracking the spine like 14 times, takes book everywhere but not in a good protecting bag so the corners of the cover are always curled, dirty or just gone, who is the clumsy person that drops her book or drops other things on the book so the pages get ruined: [awkwardly backs away]
My friend borrowed my copy of Simon vs the Homo Sapiens Agenda and put it in her locker. The cover was messed up. I’m really mad, it’s one of my favorites.
Once my finger suddenly started bleeding while reading a lent book and I felt so bad so I wanted to clean it but I just messed it up even more so I instently asked my mom to buy a new one (I was only like 12 back than so)
