@@honeytea1046 It was definitely a thing. I hid books in my lunch box so I was not told to bring them back to my locker. Guess they wanted us to be social or something.
Is it bad I was laughing at the dinner table reading the Hunger games? I for some reason found it funny....except rue😭 But ya my seat mate always points me out when I'm smiling while reading which is almost everytime.
I was reading a book in the bus and I finished it, as I was expecting. I still had five minutes so I took out another book. The boy (my age) siting next to me made a face that said "the fuck". I don't know if he was impressed or scared.
Hannah Noel YES!!! Although I usually take one book I know I won't finish outside (I usually read more than one book at the time), but I didn't wont to put that book down so I decided to take two instead.
Seems like I'm 'the completely engaged in their book' reader 😂 One time I was reading The Fault In Our Stars in the middle of a class... I had the book hidden under my desk 😂I was so engrossed in it that I did not realize that my teacher was calling me for like five minutes and then I got to the part where Gus died and decided that I could not just read on because it was way too hard to keep the tears in and I finally looked up at my teacher, my entire face wet with tears and her expression was like, "WTF is happening here?"
@@curehead9877 My sister does that to me. I was crying after I read The Burning Maze because one of my favorite character dies and his best friend doesn't even get to see him again before that. She told me "suck up it up because he doesn't exist." That made me cry even more.
This is me during my portuguese class (I'm brazilian), I was always reading a book, but my teacher never complained (not directly) even if I was sitting in the front
So one time I was at school and decided to reread Harry Potter and the order of the Phoenix and I got to the scene where Sirius died....right in the middle of sixth period......it wasn't pretty
Yeaaaah... Thats why I stop reading Order of thr Phoenix at the begining of the battle in the ministry and only continue when its 1am and I am alone in my room
Yazling It's like, "This book is really goooood, but I'm not gonna ignore someone's greeting and look like a prick, so I also have to be ready for a conversationnnn."
Say no more, I am that kind of Reader! With a little mixing of I-don't-want-to-be-bothered-so-get-the-fuck-out-of-my-face-before-I-slam-my-fist-into-your-face Reader! But still though, I don't want to be rude to anyone who stops by just to say Hi to me.
I can't actually do this, if it's background music or sound I can drown it out but I get distracted to easily when I have some thing directly beside me or in my ears
You forgot the "Must Tell You A Play-By-Play Of What Is Happening In My Book" reader. Those are the people (and I admit I do this sometimes) that must tell someone, anyone about what is going on in there book while totally fangirling/fanboying and making no sense.
There's that reader who goes to incredible lengths to hide the cover of their book and look as unwelcoming as possible so no one comes over to interrupt them or ask what they're reading. Or, uh, maybe that's just me.
For the "completely engaged in their book reader" one this is me: Me: *Reading, super engaged* Someone else: Hey, watcha up to? Me: *Continues reading.* Someone else: Oh well uh what are you reading? Me: *continues reading* Someone else: Hello? Me: *Continues reading.* Someone else: Well, I am just going to get some chocolate... Me: WHAT? DID SOMEONE SAY CHOCOLATE? Someone else: No I was joking. Me: Oh... *back to reading*
Yep, this is me too (sometimes I'm the sleepy one). Have you also noticed that when your reading in public you seem to attract everyone (mainly drunks) asking stupid questions like 'what you doing?', 'what you reading?' and 'why are you reading that?'. I'm like go away,, haven't I made it obvious I don't want to be social on this trip.
I am the walking reader but now that I do that, I can read and walk while not putting anyone in danger. Someone has literally stepped in front of me when I was reading the 6th Harry Potter book (Because I thought Harry and Ginny were going to kiss, which they didn't) But the person stepped in front of me expecting me to walk into them but NO, I stopped looked up at them and this is what happened "You know that's dangerous right." She said... did I mention this is a teacher. "Yeah, I know that. But I like to read." I told her continuing to read and walk past her to my classroom.
I almost walked into my schools bus walking between classes. The boys basketball team was on there..one time my teacher also told me I couldn't walk while reading, and I wont be able to drive while reading. I told him already walk while I'm reading.
My mom just took me and my sister to the gym. Re-reading the harry potter series and i am on the third book so I just read that while walking on the treadmill
Oh my gosh me and my friend are the planing to take over the world readers along with the engaged reader and I'm the multitasking reader! You forgot the "triggered reader" who is so mad or sad at the book to even deal with life at the moment.
I walk and read at the same time, I read a book and at least three fanfiction stories, I bust out laughing after intently reading a book and coming into contact with something in the passage that I was not expecting. I also don't like to be messed with if I am reading a book. A wall goes up and you can just feel it.
AshlynnFairchild sometimes my wall don't work, but then they get the hint right away because I've been told by friends that I get this look on face that says, 'talk and you die.' When they told me this I laughed so hard my chest started hurting.
"Readers who you've seen or encountered..." No, no, no, my friend. You see, I am the walking reader and I AM the completely engaged reader. I'm quite dangerous when I read aren't I...?
I was doing a science fair thing where the elementary kids came to the jr. high and look at our projects. No one wanted to look at mine, so I just sat and read (The end of allegiant)... I was balling in front of all the 3rd graders... my best friend’s sister asked me what’s wrong and I said I didn’t want to talk about it.
I'm the 'completely engaged in the book' reader, When I'm reading an intense part in class I hold the book open with my elbows and cover my ears with my hands haha. That's when everyone knows they shouldn't talk to me, look at me, touch me, or breathe next to me.
My fav is the ones who are in public and are trying not to react to a book, so you can see them straining to hold in their emotions (aka me everyday on the bus too and from work)
My fiance is mumbling reader. It's really annoying to just hear chattering and "OH MY GOD" every five minutes ahaha I'm the engaged reader. Don't touch me, don't talk to me, don't even breathe..just go away ahaha
Cece Cheung my cousin always does that, but once she literally yelled "NO YOU CAN'T KILL HER DAD! THAT'S NOT OKEY! NO! and then went right back to mumbling again.
I got to THAT BIT in Blood of Olympus and screamed "LEO NO!!!!!!!!!!!" and my whole class looked at me like I was INSANE. Then in the last chapter I screamed "LEO YES!!!!!!!!"
I'm the one who's totally engaged with my book. Okay SO YOU HAVE TO BE INSANE IF YOU EVEN LOOK AT MY BOOK DONT TOUCH MY BOOK don't even talk to me. no human to human interaction will go on.
Read-walking in a delicate skill that must be honed. There will be confused glances and whispered comments. It's something regular humans will never truly comprehend.
When you watch this for the first time in 2020 and hear him call Rowling a queen and go to the comment section to educate why she isn't a queen, but then realize this was uploaded in 2015.
I finished reading 'the fault in our stars' on a train and pretty much everybody was looking at me and I had to literally wait till the God damn ride got over to CRY...
yes jesse, i too read on a cow oh oops i'm the "walks-and-reads-at-the-same-time-reader" whoops 3:24 me af omg i am so the "completely engaged in their book reader" sometimes i fear how i look while reading in public XD also the reading multitasker IM ALL OF THE BAD TYPES OF READERS UGH you should definitely make more videos like this!
I always make the weirdest noises when I read, like when there's a super funny scene and I don't want to laugh out loud, so instead I "laugh" like I'm a dying whale who's crying. Yup.
Jesse:Were you can see the sky Me:I totally forgot about the sky ---------------- Mom:Yay ur smiling when ur reading Me:Millions of people are dying in this part, mom
In my three years at my middle school (I graduated years ago), I only got kinda in trouble once for that despite having done it every day since school started (and the day I got in trouble, it was near the end of my last year there lol), but I did get in trouble with teachers for reading during class a lot
I can walk around with a book perfectly safely. And often do. I am also completely engrossed in my book. Sometimes someone will ask me a question while I'm reading and I'll vaguely answer. Without actually consciously realising I've been asked. Occasionally someone will say "Do you know what you've just agreed to?" And I am just 'wait, what?'
I am the villainous reader.. Whenever I read a funny sentence, or understand a reference in the book I'm reading, I literally laugh like that. Everyone including my best friend thinks I'm insane... OOPS
I'm the type of reader that makes faces while I read hahah like I show what happens on my face throughout the book. Plus I don't know how many people I have seen reading the damn 50 shades of grey book in public, you don't even get affected by it anymore ugh
Imo reading a funny book in public is a much worse problem than emotional books.. whenever I get to a funny part (with pjo that's like every 10 mins) I have to stop and wait until I leave the public transport or else I start going "pffft" out loud. and yet I almost never cry with emotional books
+Emma Tachikawa It's easiest on a route you are very familiar with or one that continues in a straight line for a while, and preferably with few people around. If you hold the book at a strategic angle, you can read while maintaining a working view of the ground and space in front of you. (About 30cm from face, downward angle of roughly 45º) :)
I'm usually the "Completely Engaged in their book reader". I get so involved with the characters in the book, that is why I easily turn into the "crying reader" and I laugh out loud a lot too. I don't usually mind getting interrupted if I'm not at an intense part of the book, but if you interrupt me while it is at one...I'm sorry, but I won't be able to pay attention to you very well. I also almost always have at least one book on me in case I get bored.
My cousin and I once went on an entire journey through London, walking and reading the ENTIRE WAY. On the Tube? Reading. Walking through Kings Cross? Reading. On a bus? Reading. Walking down a sidewalk? Reading. It was DELIGHTFUL.
I'm a loud laughing reader. When I read something funny, I'll just laugh and I'm a really loud laugher. I'll look up and see people staring. To any who experience this from me, I'm gonna go ahead and say I'm sorry.
The attention seeking reader, I definitely have experienced one of these in my school bus before... Here I am, with my little phone out reading the Adventures of Sherlock Holmes (fave) and the person sitting in front of me has The fault in our stars opened in their hands, and they're sitting on their knees, kneeling over to other people and socializing whilst holding the book open in her hand and only glancing at it once every past 10 minutes of laughter and conversation. JUST STOP SHOVING THE COVER IN PEOPLES FACES IF YOU'RE NOT GOING TO READ IT.
Me: *walking while reading* Me: like BO$$ Me: *walking up and down stairs* Me: *dodging people* Me: *eyes on page* Me: *not tripping* Me: *doing great* Me: LIKE BO$$ Me: *Gets to sad part* Me: *breaks down* Me: *turns into the Crying Reader and Walking Reader at the same time* THE STRUGGLE IS REAL
I'm always reading when I'm out with friends, so they always just stare at me like I'm some sort of deluded physcopath because I'd rather be reading than catching up on the latest trends
I once read Fifty Shades of Grey in public! Which was the biggest mistake I've ever had lmao love you so much Jesse you're really becoming one of my favorite hilarious and witty RU-vidrs :D
+jessethereader Heartless by Marissa Meyer came out recently. I bought it a little while ago but I haven't read it yet but I LOVE her other books! It's about the queen of hearts I believe. Just thought I'd recommend that regardless of the fact that I have not yet read it.
I can read while walking and not bump into anybody also I sometimes mumble read. Plus I’m definitely one the those readers that is super engaged in the book I’m reading
