Have you ever wondered what route that your pioneer ancestors took to the west? Are their footsteps right under the road that we travel today or is it far back in the woods? The answer is simply, yes! Some of the historic route Boone Trace is under our modern road systems but much of it is off the beaten path. We take you there!
Family Tree Nuts teamed up with Dr. John Fox in documenting the entire route from in to Virginia, all the way to the terminus at Boonesborough. We cross farms, yards, towns, and many waterways as take in the sights along the way and tell the amazing history. We are proud to have documented this route for all the ages.

Thank you for showing Fort Boonesborough. I believe this is where Squire Boones wife Jane Van Cleave fought in the Revolutionary War. She was a veteran in her own right. You go Girl!

Jane Van Cleve was my 5th great-aunt on my mothers side, and her husband Squire Boone is my 1st cousin 8 x removed on my fathers side, I didn’t know that about Jane, very cool! I am also descended from John and Mary Shepherd Van Cleve and their daughter Sarah Sally Van Cleve McPike, the twin who survived the Long Run Massacre and I am also descended from the Van Meters, Abraham was at Painted Rock station.

Awesome! I hate using that word but it is truly appropriate. I saved this video to watch again and take notes so I can go there. I believe in genetic memory and sometimes I just let that guide me. You think you are your own person until you meet unknown relatives and they are just like you!! Beautiful scenery. Happy 4th. Remember how we got here. We have periods of "ugly" about every 50 years. We manage to press on. Stay safe.

Thanks! We hope that you take the drive! We think genetic memory is real and very powerful if you will just listen.

One of the thirty men that helped cut the trail was my cousin Job Crabbtree. He is buried in the Allison Gap Cemetery at Saltville Va. His brother Issac was with James Boone when he was killed. Issac is buried on his sons' property at Furnace Mountain Kentucky, I can't find his grave.

Awesome Russ! You have taken us on a journey I have always wanted to do. I live in the tri-state area, and have most of my life, but you shown places, markers I've never seen before. I have tried to find out why 'Flat Lick' was given that name. Nobody in county or city government has been able to tell me. Now I know and it makes perfect since! Thank you! Same with 'Stinking Creek'. No one can solve that curiosity it seems. Your production is amazing and I can't wait to share it. Great history lesson! Thank you so very much. God bless you.

Great video. I'm from the UK, and for some unknown reason yesterday I just thought "I'd like to find out more about Daniel Boone". He's someone whose name I've always known, but about whom I knew very little. Thanks for the education! This is very watchable, with great presentation and production, beautiful views and really interesting stories. Thank you for making such a useful resource.

@@familytreenutshistorygenealogy Thank you for the pointer - I've just added it to my watch later list now. In fact it was a couple of the videos in that playlist that I watched and enjoyed before this one. I love finding out about the past and how people lived, and what they both enjoyed and had to endure. I also love the fact that our histories are all so interconnected. Thanks again.

Wish to take this tour and see it with my own eyes. Thank you for showing us who are unable to see the territory. The amount of bravery the settlers had is unbelievable ❤

Thank you for the compilation of the Boone Trace County videos into one video. It was excellent. Perhaps one way to make more funds for the organization to sell the shirts worn in the videos. I know I would buy one. Also I noticed only corporate memberships on website. Did I miss the individual memberships? Again thank you for the great video. When I move back to Kentucky from Kansas in a few years I will drive as much of the route as I am able.
