Question if you see this and can respond. I"ve got one of the ARC-XCI55AX routers, you vids have been a huge help. Speed hasn''t been problem, it's more the stability of the connection. In non-peak hours I consistently hit around 300/15, with peak hours being more like 200/10. My bigger concern is stability, I'm admittedly in a fringe area with my 5G signal strength around -109 to -110 and LTE around -100 with a stock router. My issue is that the connection would drop for 10 second to a few minutes 5-10 times a day. I picked up a Waveform QuadPro, and aimed in the right direction I can get LTE to drop to -79 consistently but no matter where I point the antenna, I can't seem to get any improvement in my 5G signal. At this point I'm trying to figure out if I need to spend more time trying to aim the antenna or if the purchase was even worth it.
@jwhitecotton yes sounds like you do need to work on aiming. Waveform has great support, reach out via phone and chat with them. Also read through the instruction manual provided for good tips on how to aim it properly. For you a couple hours messing with it might pay off!
boosters can/do work but are really not ideal for 5G or data throughput. Better for voice/text. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-vn0EzM4FsMM.html A 4x4 MIMO antenna will easily best a booster for data throughput. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-bboYE4qcfDM.html
I hate to say it but that's a lot of work just to be able to hookup an External Antenna plus you kinda risk breaking the Gateway/Modem. Your best bet would be to just Purchase a Third Party Cellular Gateway/Modem like a Chester Cheetah or Chester Ninja Gateway/Modem that already has External Antenna Ports. I know Third Party Cellular Gateway/Modem's are more expensive and not everyone wants to spend that kinda money on them but they are worth it especially with all of the Features you get with them. Also Verizon needs to get with it like with how T-Mobile is actually allowing people to hookup External Antenna's to their Newest Gateway's like the G4AR.
@madmicky4088 I get about 40mbps down if I am on my main floor. Luckily I can get my gateways to a Loft but others that can't need an antenna to get that 300/20. Think also metal roof/siding houses.
@@NaterTater oh man.....i have mine way out in the garage behind some shelving and stuff everywhere and it gets good enough 200+ dl throughout my whole house.....these antanae wouldnt help me or make it worth it....the tmobile i used to have sucked so bad though and this probably would have helped. Night and day difference between companies where i live....verizon has absolutely horrendous customer service though and tmobile had great customer service....wish they could combine the strengths into one good company hahhaa love your videos
