Today we're talking about an issue that has existed in Borderlands 2 for quite some time now, and also going on a small rant about some other issues existing in the franchise also. Additionally, I'll talk more about the game I showed off in my last video!

Dude I wanted to start this so bad, my game just crashes on startup no matter what…even went to the point of fresh install of windows to no avail🤦‍♂️ I can play every other borderlands games just fine…RIP my bl1 lol

There's also the bug where if you close out the game in BL2, you can lose all your BAR and skin/head customization.

I literally can't even play BL3 with my dad (our favorite series) who lives in another state because it crashes every time he starts it now. It's sad, we put hundreds of hours in together.

Hope you find a solution so you can play again, could be a memory freakout triggered by a windows update screwing up the graphics card driver, happened to me with BL2 on my laptop. Need to get a freeware tool that does a clean driver uninstall, download & re-install the latest version of the driver compatible with your pc, & then see how the game runs. Can't guarantee this will do anything for the BL3 problem but worth a try.

Dude I stopped playing with years ago because the crashing..just started to replay and got a friend to buy it...crashes for me every 25 minutes its so annoying...doing a raid finally got to the last boss in minos prime and it froze

Gearbox seems to be reading out of Bethesda's playbook when it comes to fixing their old games. I recently discovered that BL3 on PS4 crashes on load up. In order to even play it I have to go into the console settings and disconnect it from the internet, start the game and hit play, wait for it to load, pause the game, reconnect to the internet, save/quit. Every single time. Not to mention the occasional random crash here and there so I have to do it all over again. Oh and it also doesn't work if I'm on a DLC map. I have to fast travel to a vanilla map after disconnecting in order to do the rest. I just started playing again a few months ago so I don't know how long it's been like that but it hasn't been fixed yet. Also the UI is still laggy and glitchy as hell.

this started around christmas, and yeah, disconnecting from the internet appears to be the only fix. it stops the load crashes, but you still can get vending machine, fast travel, or too much stuff on the screen crashes.

Played bl3 with my cousin using splitscreen and it was one of my favourite experiences but the crashes though we always got scared of opening the ui

Also for Wonderlands, the map just refuses to work properly with M&K. It either snaps back to where I first loaded in or it doesn’t want to pan as I’m trying to move. BL3 does not have this issue. I’ve resorted to using a controller solely to use the map on Wonderlands.

I think the only reason they haven’t changed anything at this point is because they’ll make it easier and the 2% of players who enjoy it will be filled with rage. For me uvhm is incredibly hard. I find needing to constantly use slag is so annoying. Dog should be an option to make it easier on you, not a need to play.

I will truly never understand why gearbox doesn't go back and tune up all these game. Even throw in some balance patches. I mean if they did that there would be a huge surge in populations of all the games which would probably just drive the sales up and I imagine fixes and some balance tweaks could be done with a super small team. I mean shit mods change the overall balance of the game and are done by 1 person a lot of the time. I mean I'd say it would be worth it just to help their image before the next game. I mean I love gearbox for what they have given but I think we can all admit they have dropped some really odd balls.

I’ve just started replaying some of my characters recently, I have about 40 days into this game, all characters max level. For some reason my badass rank got reset to 0 and all of my characters/vehicle skins were removed.

Borderlands 3 and Wonderlands are entirely unplayable for me because of the constant micro-stuttering. Explosions, loot drops, walking a few meters, opening chests, autosaving and probably more make my fps drop from 144 to 138 which is always noticeable as a stutter. Many Unreal Engine games have this problem (Ghostrunner 2 for example) and doing those stupid config, start option -and Windows setting -edits only reduce the stuttering by a tiny amount. It's fu**ing sh*t.

The most annoying things are when gearbox break skill trees and weapon nerfs aka like the crossroads nerf, and then never fix them. There are are a ton of things in BL3 that just dont work gameplay wise P2P doesnt drop , deathrattle doesnt work etc.

Switch version of BL3 can't roll certain build defining annoints on shields. Reporting it does nothing though as they have "tested it and it works", but the community just knows you can't get a re-volter with Action skill start on the Switch.

Really glad to see someone make a video about this, OP levels being inaccessible for people missing FFS is a huge issue and it should have been something they immediately fixed. All of these things need fixing of course, but requiring players to pay for content a second time is not cool.

with how much stuff they are just forgetting or just not putting attention to. it really feels like they dont care about the borderlands community at all anymore. I wouldnt be surprised if borderlands 4 was just an all out live service game. Which im not fully against, but i doubt they would put in the time and money thats required to make the game special, and know its not the devs its the higher ups that are convinced they know what the playerbase wants.

In regard to the BL1 memory leak, I managed to fix it myself but downloading DirectX Vulkan or dxvk, which managed to remove the memory leak issue for me. It’s different for every PC build though so it may work, it may not. I believe this also works for BL2 and TPS but i never tested those games. I’ve played BL1 GOTY Enhanced for hours on end with no crashes and memory leaks. still, it’s a shame that the community has to either fix it themselves or suffer the performance/bug issues (referring to the console players).

What is this memory leak you're referring to for Borderlands 1 on PC? And when you say remastered, do you mean GOTY Enhanced? Because that's the version I play, both on PC and Series X.

(Before starting I want to say that this is my particular case and I agree 100% that bl2 is unbalanced and should be fixed) Personally I liked the OP hp scaling. My reasoning is that this game is over 10 years old and this maintains a sense of challenge, seeking to have a near perfect build and playing very well attentive to what happens in the game. It's like in the dark souls games (for me), I personally don't find them difficult, but you have to be attentive or you die, which keeps you attentive and engaged in a PvE game. This is one of the reasons why I prefer bl2 over bl3, because in bl 3 you can one shot everything or kill everything with close to not effort. (But, I have to mention that I do hate 2 things about OP scaling. 1.I hate that it reduces the number of viable builds. 2. To beat the raid boses you have to use Bugs or unplanned interactions. Among other Bad stuff.)

I've heard of the memory leak issue for Borderlands 1 GOTY Enhanced Edition, but I guess both me and my friend just got extremely lucky as we never had a single issue when playing the game, it just worked. That particular playthrough wasn't a short one either, it was the first time either one of us had played that version and we did everything in the game, getting 100% of the achievements, took about 116 hours according to Steam. Neither of us had particularly good PC's at the time either, especially my friend as his PC was absolutely terrible. I was the one to host the game due to having the much faster internet speeds, I have about 280 Mbps, he had about 40 Mbps I was using an Intel i3 12100, 16 GB of DDR4 3600 MHz RAM with a GTX 980 4 GB on Windows 11 Pro, I ran the game on a 500 GB PCIE Gen 3 M.2 SSD. Not too bad overall but the GPU was definitely showing it's age with it being over 9 years old, though it was perfectly fine for this game. My friend was using an AMD FX-6100, 8 GB of DDR3 1600 MHz and a GTX 650 1 GB on Windows 7 Pro, he ran the game from a 1 TB 5400 RPM HDD which was also running his OS. I don't think I need to explain just how bad his PC was, everything about it was complete garbage. We had chrome open in the background too in case we had to look some thing up on the Borderlands Wiki or Loot Lemon, so that was taking up resources too. We have both up graded our PC's since then, massively in my friend's case, but yeah, I don't know what to tell you, we had no issues at all, it just worked.

I stopped playing BL2 for several years to play 3. I am now back with my best friend starting from scratch as I lost all my old stuff except my badass level and skins. Now you tell me I can't unlock op levels unless I BUY a dlc I don't even want. Explain the fairness of that to me gearbox.

My wife and I play couch co-op! We never got into BL3 or Wonderlands because they are essentially unplayable. Lost lots of money buying those. Just sticking to BL2 and not buying any more of their games until they fix that!

Some of the things mentioned especially in bl2 I've been saying for years i wouldn't recommend op levels it at all of waste of time and makes the game unplayable at end game it's so hard you end up just using one build only because most weapons don't even do damage it seems on op 10 borderlands 2 is amazing game but I've gave up on the game 3 years ago because it's a mess the scaling and it just makes me not want to play the game

My wife and I had played every BL game together split screen because we're not going to buy 2 separate consoles/TVs and then the split-screen on BL3 was so bad that we just didn't play it for almost a year after it came out waiting for it to get better. Then Wonderlands came out and we learned exactly how much worse it could get. I hope there is a BL4 someday, but I won't be playing it within the first year of release unless I see a LOT of press about how much better the splitscreen is.

@@AlternateF8 we bought pt 3 on PS4, and it didn’t run well. But then when we finally upgraded to PS5, we got the free upgrade. My wife and I are hardcore borderlands fans as well! We couldn’t play in horizontal split screen, but when they finally released the vertical split, it made everything work. We are thinking the same thing about having two TVs and 2 consoles to play games. That would be quite the setup! Or maybe one console can be running off that handheld thing they released for PS5.

Ive been a fan of borderlands for close to a decade now. I think gearbox as a company has changed for the worst, I was hyped for bl3, but the epic only release stopped me from getting it. Eventually found out how bad the story was, and the looting mechanics where legendary gear would drop almost all the time in that game, makes rarity and progression seem pointless. When I got the game when it released on steam, it was still bugging out, I was having ui issues just refunded the game and didnt bother anymore with 3. Wonderlands for me just got boring really fast, not sure why, but it really wasnt fun to play the game. Also the tina one off adventure is a borderline scam in my opinion. Gearbox today is not what gearbox used to be pre 2012, I personally dont have faith in any future content from Gearbox honestly. For me, 2 was the peak of the franchise, I think Gearbox would have to make huge fundamental changes to the company before they would even release things properly and with passion. Crappier releases/ content seems like a common trend with gaming companies nowadays.

On the topic of Fight for Sanctuary, people saying "oh it was free" are definitely mistaken. That said there is something which people, including you, seem to leave out when addressing this: *OP levels are based on the max level cap* , that is indisputable fact. The current level cap is 80, so it makes perfect sense that it does not work at 72, so *it is not a bug.* If this was wrong, then by the same logic people who buy UVHM upgrade pack 2 and not upgrade pack 1 should have OP levels, because they have the correct DLC just the wrong level cap. The fix here would be to make the levels independent of Fight for Sanctuary, by making them available by default, or include them in UVHM Upgrade Pack 2. Unfortunately 2K + Gearbox are clearly trying to recoup their advertising investment (which is what FFS is) for the passable BL3, so locking it behind a paywall seems to be intentional. I don't care what anyone says, I am cynical enough to be convinced they were aware of this issue before release. I got the DLC when it was free, so not some disgruntled newcomer either. BL1 should not have got a remaster likes this, it is lazy and not changed enough, thus not deserving of being called a "remaster". Would rather it just didn't exist.

Too bad I wasn't able to buy BL2 back in 2019 before Fight for Sanctuary DLC was released because I was just a 1st year college student back then, so I didn't obtained it for free when I bought the BL2 GOTY on March 2024 (it was on sale and I finally have a work now so I'm able to buy games lol). At the same time it's really disappointing that they didn't included that DLC in the GOTY Edition and now I'm just waiting for a sale to happen because there's no chance that I'll buy it for 799 Philippine Peso (or $13.81) which is almost 4 times of what I paid for the game. PS. I can't also play OP levels (even though I recently bought the upgrade pack 2) since the game thinks that the max level is 80 which is only available if I have the Fight for Sanctuary DLC... yeah... it sucks

I've only had a pc for about 8 months or so, so can't speak for it historically. This is also why I don't have fight for sanctuary lol

Performance just deteriotes the longer you play pretty much. Not sure what happens on the technical side, but it just causes the game performance to degrade over time

okay i get that yes there are bugs and they need to be addressed but the thing is a lot of them will definitely never get fixed because the games are old. development has stopped on these games and there will likely never be another update to them because Gearbox is working on other things. i get that there's bugs but complaining about them wont fix them because A) there isnt any way a fucking gearbox dev is watching this and B) they have better things to do than update 3+ year old games. i get it, i love Borderlands as well but the fact is we are never gonna get these bugs fixed because the games are old now and development has stopped.

The memory leak issue is only on PC, so if you played console thats why you didn't experience it

A memory leak is an issue that affects games on PC where a program will use more and more of the systems available RAM (Random Access Memory) until there is nothing left, leading to awful performance, and usually, eventually a crash. If you played on console you wont have experienced it, but there is a chance you played on PC and it didn't affect you

@@IMrAverage It does happen on console, both BL1 and 2 have a problem with it. 2 if you save and quit enough fast enough textures start to get pasty and wont fix until the game's fully closed. BL1 though can crash from the same thing but with even less save/quitting, and you can also just crash randomly in the Underdome (Assuming you don't fall asleep before Round 20). These are from experience.

This video needed to be made!! Thank you. BL3 issues are ridiculous. Borderlands is one of the best all time fps games. For gearbox to not maintain problems is sad. My daughter and I love to play split screen at home. I have uninstalled BL3 because of crashes. Keep doing you brother. Good stuff

Youre just rattling problems youve heard about without actually knowing much for yourself, at first before you corrected yourself you said vora has millions of health in op10, if you actually got to op10 youd know most weapons already do millions of damage so that wouldnt be a problem.

I’m ok with the OP levels and raid boss health bars. I like it when devs make content that less than 1% of players can conquer. At least it’s a repeat boss, and not totally original content. I suppose. Blizzard devs made a dungeon in World of Warcraft that was totally unique, Naxxramus, and the clear rate was around 1%. That’s ballsy. I hope they keep BL2 that way.

@EpicNNG yea people started criticizing it after getting backlash from other members of the community for being paid yes men praising how wonderlands was the greatest of all the borderlands games but at launch everyone who was known to be paid by gearbox was praising the game when it is easily the worst installment of the franchise and now they think people want a wonderlands 2 even after that 30 minute dlc 😂

I literally just bought it again, to prove you wrong. Guess what? It came with all of the DLCs. This means that your comment is an absolute lie!
