So many years late- but I love how Athena’s voice is deep already and yet you can hear her putting effort to keep her voice deep and serious when she says this line. Lol
I love how Borderlands 2 and the pre sequal it felt as if these characters had their own arc Like as they grew you grew too in a way. Borderlands 3 completely failed at that
@@nathanielgarza9198 Amara should totally have had an arc about the fact that the story doesn't realise that she's a thing and is there. either as an inadequacy complex or the fact that her siren powers somehow include being invisible to cringey assholes.
There's another part in the claptrap DLC thats like: Lilith: "now that jack has shown his true character, why are you still working for him?" Athena: "i cant stay away from jack sized cash, its hard to keep a roof over us" Lilith: "us?" Athena: "springs." :D
It's why I enjoyed it more then BL2. Got much more immersed in the plot with Athena being the narrator and actually being an essential character in the plot other then a ghost that says nothing. Lol thats the one part that threw me out of my immersion in BL2 still love the game tho
I know this comment is old, but I don't think it's so much that she's in the closet, it's more that Athena concentrates solemnly on the job that needs to be done. Borderlands has had lots of lgbt characters in the past. Moxxi is bisexual, hammerlock is gay, axton is bisexual, there are a couple of echo recording in which women speak of their wives, and guys speak of their husbands. I didn't know about Athena until watching this, but if she is gay or at least bisexual, the developers not mentioning it straight up says more about Athena's personality rather than her being in the closet.
I think in the borderlands universe people are more open minded and accepting of such traits. Furthermore I'm pretty sure that patricia tannis is bisexual and from what we see in this game and her character in general I think athena's bisexual as well.
seeing this video on 4:3 with extremely low quality reminds me of the way i used to play this game when i had a bad computer, it hit right on the nostalgia feels
Love this!! Though there is one you can miss 'cause it starts as you're going over a jump early in the game in the first area and if you fail the jump, they don't repeat it.
Nah Janey was asking Athena about something she did in the past, but who knows, like I said, I never heard the whole thing. The jump I believe is between the very top left island on this map and the close-by branch of the big area. img2.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20141019185720/borderlands/images/3/34/BLTPS-MAP-REGOLITH_RANGE.png
Brooke Steele Oh you mean the part when they were talking about Athena taking down the Atlas Corporation by herself until Athena corrected Janey that she got helped from the original Vault Hunters.
Since I can’t find any solution I’m trying here - when I click square to talk to her, she seems to be talking and the subtitles are fine but I not hear her voice. Anybody know why?
Badass! thank you for compiling their moments into one video =) Does the poster quest counts? I thought Athena's reactions are pretty adorkable on those(Specially with the kitty poster)
well I just tried to only get the ones where they react to each other and only to each other. Someone posted up All of Athena's Voice clips together if you want to hear her reactions to the posters.
nope, axton is bi too, he was actually intended to be hetero but a bug in his randomized dialog made him flirt with everyone so they just made him bi, though clearly leaning hetero, that said salvador and the 4 BL1 vault hunters are all hetero as far as we know.
claptrap helps the new vault hunters (borderlands 2), wilhelm goes robot crazy and becomes a giant loader (you kill him int borderlands 2) and nisha becomes jacks girlfriend and sheriff of lynchwood (a place in borderlands 2, also you kill her in a sidequest)
I know Claptrap worries about Jack psychopathic tendencies, and tries to see the end of his helpful nature Jack tries to convince himself it’s just a job and he has no control of the situation Aurelia shows a lot of concerns starting to recognize she cares about others besides herself Nisha tell Springs Jack killing people is hot Wilhelm I don’t know
CrimsonRex But you were totally up for Athena being asexual, which many would also interpret as "pandering to SJW" (just because of giving visibility to underrepresented minority), but since she's a lesbian, it's only now suddenly "for the sake of SJW"? BTW, Burch said he always intended her to be a lesbian, and I believe him - he's familiar with the subject of asexuality since his ex-wife was one, and it would be really offensive to imply that asexuality is due to some emotional scars like it would look like if Athena was asexual. And second BTW, Burch said that Zer0 and Maya are asexual (and Gaige is straight).
Because logically her being asexual makes sense. She was basically raised to be an assassin since birth, one could even call her a former child soldier. Her social skills are little to none thanks to the assassin bred turned mercenary life, it's all she knows, her chances at having a relationship with anything are extremely low. I imply she's asexual based off the life she has and by the direct quotes from her, it goes beyond mere emotional scars. I also ask, where was there any indication or development of her recuperating the same feelings when she was being hit on throughout Borderlands the pre-sequel? Burch essentially took a character from Borderlands 1 and just made them a lesbian without any development just for the sake of his diversity fetish. Making her gay, nothing wrong, but making her gay with no believable development is just lazy and wrong. While it's irrelevant, it makes sense for Zero and Maya to be asexual. Zero is combat lusted and Maya lived a extremely situational lifestyle which stunted her social skills to a degree, not too far off from Athena's case.
Jack Tells because they have gay characters? god your a fucking idiot. only mad because that's just another chick who wouldn't step within ten feet of you 😂
^ This. + As soon as a gay couple pops up idiots scream "political agenda, boycott!" while heterosexual romance without any chemistry / or is abusive or toxic is shoved down our throats each and every goddamn day and nobody bats an eye but god beware if in between those 1000 hetero couples one gay couple appears - every straight fuckboy loses his shit and whines about agendas. Take Rhys & Sasha - that was so incredibly forced and without any chemistry, it makes me wanna puke but everyone is goddamn fine with them just getting together out of fucking nowhere. Aside from the part where you can give Sasha that flower & him admitting feelings at the end towards Fiona if that answer is chosen everything prior to that can easily pass as friends. But nope - nobody calls that bullshit out or cries "agenda!". Double standards, yo! So you can take your "political agenda" bullshit and shove it where the sun doesn't shine.
