@@dandominareIt’s not a trial or a courtroom but the purpose of making them give evidence under oath is that if they do lie to the enquiry and sufficient evidence can be provided of this they can be referred to the CPS for prosecution. So yes and no.

And what was alcohol doing on works premises anyway? In most places of work alcohol is not permitted and if you are caught with alcohol disciplinary action can be taken against you.
