As a Telegraph reader I believe Boris got COVID totally wrong (as well as other things such as Net Zero). The lockdowns were too long and too hard. And, yes, I do believe this is a witch hunt. The enquiry is mostly focused on who said what on WhatsApp, rather than the decision making process which bankrupted the country.

It recommended that the lockdown should be limited to the elderly and at risk, that old people in nursing homes should be looked after (before the vaccine came out) mainly by those who had recovered from covid, and that staff and visitors should tested regularly. The rest of us should go about our normal lives TO ALLOW THE VIRUS TO SPREAD AND LEAVE IMMUNE SURVIVORS TO CREATE HERD IMMUNITY. They also advocated handwashing, which seems self-defeating if they wanted the virus to spread quickly.
