lol reminds me of when 8-track was state of the art. I was in my early teens. Sorry you guys missed it those were much better times except for no internet...I Noticed again you liking that bass. So again I'll recommend Grand Funk "Black Licorice" for some killer bass lines (and a funny lookin' bass player). Oh yteah it's all around a great song. The drummer is singing and never met a roll he doesn't like! Check this vid out I can't wait for your reaction! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-wiEy3nbmjd4.html

Steely Dan is a whole other rabbit hole to get lost in. It's not a band so much as a musical collective. It's like Fagen and Becker said "Who is the best guy I can get to do this part on this song". Steve Gadd's drums on Aja. Larry Carlton's guitars on Babylon Sister. Bernard freaking Purdie on Babylon Sister. Michael McDonald's backing vocals on Peg. So much good stuff there. I was a little concerned when, after your last CCR reaction vid, a lot of people (me included) were asking for "Born On The Bayou" next. It's because of its simplistic, don't take it too seriously vibe that I wondered if you two would find it not interesting enough, maybe too repetitious. Is it because I've been hearing it for over fifty years and don't really sit down and take everything in anymore? I still hear all of the cool nuances it dishes up, from the cowbell to John's little three syllable vocalizations at the end of the verses. But maybe I take all of that for granted, now. After watching you two have eargasms over it, and bobbing my head along with yours, I'm starting to get that certain tingle that washes through you when something special is played. This song is something special.
@DJMaul1031
@DJMaul1031 4 года назад
So agree. Ive been listening to SO many of these songs all my life that I suppose it's easy to start taking them for granted. If you read more about John Fogerty and CCR, particularly from his autobiography, “Fortunate Son”, you would know that this guy drove this band to practice their asses off until the song was played exactly like he wanted. So he cared big time about how and what was being recorded. It was all the practice before recording that made it sound effortless.

Used to hike and rock climb at Devil's Lake all the time. Hop on the ferry and cruise on into the park for a day of sunshine. The last time I was there, about twenty years ago, my girlfriend and me were sitting with our feet dangling over the edge of the bluff, taking in the beautiful view, when a hawk came gliding by not more that ten feet in front of us. It gave the tips of its wings just a little flap, but we both heard it. Gave us chills.

@@Drummingvulture I loved those bluffs! Seen plenty of Turkey Vultures! The sad thing is, if a couple of young adults experienced today what you saw then, they would only get a glimpse because they would be trying to get their phones out to take a picture. I live in Vegas now, and in a half hour I can be at Red Rock Canyon. I was there yesterday hiking a mountain I know well. I get to the top to find two twenty-somethings BOTH on their phones! One talking loudly and the other sitting on a rock and watching a vid, instead of looking at the incredible scenery! If you are ever in Vegas, it is worth spending a day out there (just don't try to do it in the summer months!).
