Well, finally after at least a year of playing I sat down tonight and tried the midi file for this amazing piece (never tried the midi stuff before). As I thought, you make it look so easy and I’m struggling with the first 5 or 6 bars.......but I enjoyed it.
Finding with the midi file, that I have to switch back and forth from that to the RU-vid video to help clarify some fingerings (midi shows some note played with right hand but you play them with you left......probably obvious to a more experienced player). Almost got the first few bars starting to flow, just struggling with timing of last phrase before it changes key into the next pattern.
Anyone got any advice on how I can the timing right on the part at exactly 1 min into the video? I have the midi file and watched the video of this part on repeat but I just can’t seem to get the left and right hands in time.... just doesn’t sound right. Think once I’ve cracked this 5-1 secs then I’m onto the next passage.
That same lick is in his version of Stormy Monday and I struggled too to get it initially when I learned that a while back early in my piano journey. You just have to learn the fingering beat by beat (instead of measure by measure) and after a bit you'll be able to do it without thinking.
