The Bosch FCG-4000 was introduced in 1983 and is considered one of the first "3-D" video effects systems to be operated through on-screen menus versus computer programming. It enabled a new sphere of creativity in television production. This sequence presents some of the animations that were produced with the FCG-4000 during the 1980s.

Between 1985 and 1987 I worked as producer director at RTL-Productions in Bertrange Luxembourg (Now CLT-UFA). The BOSCH FGS-4000 was our most beloved friend. We made TV station logos, corporate logos and simple animations, keying them in to live shots. Thanks.

This device was very well used in the Dire Straits' video "Money for Nothing". If I'm not mistaken, was held in the facilities of Modern Videofilm, California, USA.

Modern Video had one, but Money For Nothing was made by Ian Pearson and Gavin Miller at The Moving Picture Company, in London, maybe it was still "Rushes". (God, I'm getting old, I think it was moving pictures. Later became The Mill) The "music video" in the video, is by the nonexistent "Ian Pearson Band" and that's Ian's girlfriend. Ian started a post house in Vancouver with a friend of mine. They made the CGI cartoon "Reboot".s Edit: I just looked and Gav moved to Vancouver too, it looks like. I helped edit this video together. Not a lot of input from me, but we had fun.

Not the first Turnkey system. The second. The Aurora100 was first. I was first artist on that and one of first on this system. Some of my work is in this video.

I remember the credits which appears in 1:44. It was about the credits used for the television news of TF1 from 1985 to 1989. TF1 is a French channel which exists for 40 years and it was for me, the best credits make by the software Bosch FGS-4000. +Michel BERNIERES What about from 3:00 to 4:00 ? did you know that TF1 almost bought a new logo design from INA / TDI but decided to go with the blue stripe one here ? I wonder if it's related to IBM ..
