We got to ride the new lightweight Bosch Performance SX. It's a milder motor rated at 55 Nm, but if you pedal fast enough, it turns into a powerful 600W motor!
This motor can be found on emtbs such as the
Whyte E-Lyte
Bulls Evo AM SX
Conway Ryvon
Corratec RS 140 EL
KTM Macina Scarp SX
Nicolai Saturn 14 Swift
M1 Sporttechnik
Norco Fluid VLT
Superior iXF
Cube AMS Hybrid ONE44
Mondraker Dune
Devinci E-Troy Lite
Canyon Neuron:ONfly

Thanks for the infos. Are you sure about the load sharing in dual battery mode? In the old system they switched between the batteries every 5%. So not a real sharing e.g. half amp per battery

@EMTBVideos Год назад
I didn't actually test it myself, the extender wasn't available. But I talked to one of the Bosch tech guys and discussed how the batteries were drained. They mentioned the batteries would balance themselves if the extender was installed with different SOC/Voltage. So yeah, that's what they told me, they will share the load.

Your videos are really great. Keep it up👍 I'm just wondering why I can't activate automatic subtitle translation for your videos? I can't even click on "Subtitles" because the button is gray and it says "not available". For other English videos, I can enable automatic subtitles even if the video creator didn't add subtitles manually.

Thanks. I've noticed the subs myself, will look into it. Automatically generated subs used to work, but it seems it stopped at some point. None of my latest vids has subs it seems.

High power and low torque means high cadence needed…i am curious to have comparison about consumption with competitors such the ep801 rs heavier but with different approach 60nm torque and max 350 watt. I think that borsh sx will drain more fast battery
@EMTBVideos
@EMTBVideos Год назад
Yeah, if one is able to maintain 600W, the battery will be out in 40 mins. But that's based on the nominal data, probably less IRL. I guess noone will be able to do that, but these powerful lightweight emtbs can drain the battery fast.

Nice walkthrough. Would be nice to hear your opinion on the "Regular" Performance Line (non-CX) 65nm motor. This motor is not EMTB type, but it's strong and has a natural feel and is very quiet. In my opinion, an underrated motor. Assuming this motor has more grunt than the PL-nonCX, but pherhaps less continous torque?

Thanks. I've briefly tested the 65 Nm Performance, the gen3 I believe. I agree, it's a strong motor. The motor can be ridden with little effort when going uphill with a moderate cadence. While I haven't ridden it on the trails, I believe it would work fine and it could be an interesting option for a low cost emtb. But, for all I know, there could be other reasons for not putting it on trail bikes...

@@EMTBVideos The Focus Planet 5.9 has this motor. Pherhaps not an emtb, but at least not an asphalt bike. If you are not into the numbers of wattage and nm, -but more into a natural bike feel and overall quietness, -try the Performance Line 65nm! I guess one reason for not putting it on an emtb is that it probably is lest robust in it's internals (belive there are more plastic than metal), -and that the overall quietness is lost due to noisy tires. On a gravelcross type bike I belive it would be a perfect option, -and pherhaps more quiet than SX.

how is his motor different from the motor which is used with orbea rise m10 / trek fuel exe?
@EMTBVideos

The SX is a smaller and lighter motor. I haven't compared them directly, but I guess they're fairly similar when it comes to noise. Power delivery is very different. The EP8-RS has lots of amplification at lower pedaling frequencies. If you pedal slowly uphill in a slightly high gear, the motor will basically do all the work. If you ride with max assistance that is. The Bosch feels noticeably weaker and you need to be in a low enough gear to get decent assistance going uphill. But things change as the cadence (pedalling frequency) increases. The generous poweramplification of the EP8-RS will drop as you go past 80 ish (?) cadence, which is about where the Bosch SX comes to life. The SX inspires me to pedal faster and it will approach full-power emtb levels as you pedal past 100 rpm. The TQ HPR50 is much more stealth. It doesn't excell at any particular cadence, but the charactheristics is similar to the Bosch. It inspires you to pedal faster, which is fun and inspiring. And it can be exhausting too (: The TQ offers the more stealth/silent/natural experience. Allthough the other motors will feel natural too, by dropping the assistance.

Better performance and much bigger manufacturer, this SX just buried the rest of lightweight motors.

This is the clunkiest of the rest of the lightweight motors. Fausa and TQ are absolutely silent. I won't buy it for that noise.
@EMTBVideos
@EMTBVideos Год назад
Yeah, this is an interesting motor! Not the stealthiest though. Many brands have developed their own motors though, so it will be interesting to see how much of the market the SX takes.

Many lw motors are focused on be fitted the way less noticeable it looks "is an ebike" bosch just care about the weight issue not "style" (excuse my english)

@@torabora851 Reliability and repair are part of the equation. In the US, Fazua is having reliability problems with no repair facility. I imagine the SX will be reliable since it's based on a mature motor platform. The TQ seems to be very reliable so far.

Compared to the Fazua and TQ, quite a lot of low end grunt (: But yeah, some/many will still prefer a full fat.
