Boss Breakdown: Vanitas and Terranort ~ Kingdom Hearts 3 Analysis 

Vanitas' ultimate move is actually based on how he rides on the keyblades and casts blizzard magic in the secret movie that was the Birth By Sleep Trailer from KH2FM.

At the start of the battle Aqua always says "you will release my friends heart!" If you retailate with a guard and counterattack that isn't counter kick, you can stagger Terranort before the end of his Ars Solem attack. Love this video series, and many others you put your work into!

That "dark times ahead" attack is the most difficult for me to deal with, especially with Vanitas interfering.

If you beat Terranort first he lies outside of the arena, same goes with Axel in the Saix fight

5:38 Well, it's possible that Sora Did Not actually saw Vanitas but felt his Presence instead. The Vanitas Image was probably just for us the Players to See & Debate upon(At the time).

The Vanitas scene is a lot better in the Japanese version, it actually has better dialogue than just arguing about Darkness and Light. Vanitas tells Sora and Ventus that he chose to be darkness so Sora and Ventus can be the Light and so that they wouldn’t have to face their darkness alone

Probably my favourite fight in the game. Despite the fact that BBS is one of my least favourite games in the franchise. It's quite bitter sweet.

Vanitas : S U F F E R !

The Vanitas death scene was a really great scene in my opinion. 1. Vanitas being so calm and accepting death but also calling Ventus and Sora his brothers and the shadow they cast. “The closer you are to the light the greater the shadow becomes”. Light and Darkness are one and the same, so if Ventus and Sora are light, then by Vanitas being their darkness they will be whole. 2. Sora’s differing opinions on Vanitas’ words and refusal to accept Vanitas stand with darkness, it shows that not everyone is gonna magically turn to the hero side the way Master Xehanort did. But Also, since Sora has only met Vanitas personally just now in this game vs Ventus who was his Arch Enemy in BBS. It’s only Natural that Sora is not happy or accepting of Vanitas staying evil. It may also show why Sora still isn’t ready to be a true Keyblade Master. 3. Ventus being very mature about the situation and stating that people are free to choose who they are and what they want from themselves. Ventus isn’t happy about Vanitas’ choice to remain as an ally of Darkness, but he respected his choice calmly. And I believe that Vanitas does have a better chance of returning more than the other Organization 13 members even though his chances are up for debate.

Oh, so Terranort does fully perform Ars Solum instead of it being shortened.

Some times you can hear terra warn you during the dark times ahead attack he will say watch out for..but gets cut off by terranorts voice.

Yo, this is an awesome video series! BBS is my favorite game in the series after playing a majority of the titles to completion. Seeing these 3 reunited did my heart some good, even though I wish they were more involved in the story. Here's to hoping we see much more of the BBS trio in the upcoming dlc.

I feel like three of Vanitas’s attacks are the same when you fight him as Aqua

That was awesome, that trio is probably my favorite trio out of all of the ones we have so far. I know they had a nice scene before the end of the game with Aqua and Ven, but I really hope they get one with all three in the Re:Mind DLC. Maybe have them go back to The Land of Departure again or something after they say farewell to Eraqus or something. I just want those three to get a bit more time being emotional since they were pretty estranged by the end of BbS.

I want to Fight Vanitas & Terranort 1 on 1 in ReMind, & I meant OUTSIDE of the Organization Boss Rush Battles. I'd also would like it if Sora's RAGE FORM gets more elaborated upon.

I’ll always find it interesting that Terra being the guardian was hinted in dream drop distance as we do see the guardian reach out to Riki before it disappears.

Vanitas' fireballs in his Rising Spiral-esque attack looks similar to Sora's Fiagra Burst sleight in Re:CoM. Vanitas' second part of his DM can be block-abused. (Grab a Formchange/cho that has a 360-degree guard, then Airstep to him then repeatedly spam Block then your Reprisal.[For Frying Pan/Counter Shield, you can block a couple of times to trigger Counter Flurry.]) Ven's Wind Raid is actually Judgement from Re/CoM. (You can tell because how their own Keyblades move is an extremely similar, if not exact same fashion.)

Ah yes, the Vanitas and Terranort battle. The closure to the BBS story line -- Vanitas being vanquished once and for all, and Terra, at long last, breaking free from Xehanort's control. Never again will the Wayfinder trio suffer under the villain's influence.

I never saw Terranort do the second part of Dark Volley until yesterday while I was fighting him and I was like ‘what was that??? :0’

Shouldn’t Terranort technically be the strongest version of Xehanort? Since he is Ansem and Xemnas’ somebody, has all of his memories of Young and Old Xehanort and regains access to his Keyblade during his time as Ansem’s apprentice.

After playing so much of the kingdom hearts series again as we led up to 3, I loved how accurate the patterns and attacks for these fights were. I was nerding out with each fight and knew what to do when another attack started up for pretty much every member. Vanitas was my favorite as he was almost the exact same fight and I was so happy that they got it all right. :)

idk if yall saw this but the Keyblades Vanitas rides on are actually not all from the time of khux. You can see Keyblades from 358/2, kh2, khbbs, and I'm pretty sure I saw one from khddd

@Bio-Roxas ALSO, Terra-Xehanort's final attack kind or resembles the second phase of the final battle in Birth By Sleep, where he covers the arena in a storm of darkness and the shadowy Guardian becomes much more active.

There are a LOT of combo finishers I never got, nor do I know how too. Been so long since I’ve played it, and the game feels so different in UE4 that it didn’t connect with me that all these moves they have are from BBS. 9:37-10:24 Seeing Ven’s movesets from BBS makes me excited to play as him in ReMind, especially since it’ll be the first time we’ll be doing so with the Command Menu, which we’ve done as Aqua. I do wonder how much the enemies’ attack patterns will change fighting them as her & Ven, and also to see that Blizzard Skaker Boi finisher akin to Aqua & Mickey’s Wayfinder Situation Command in 0.2! Playing Ven’s theme in the background describing the allies for this fight, right after the Terranort theme especially hit me heartstrings so much. When you started describing the ending cutscene to this fight with Ven crying right before Terra as the Guardian saving him (which may have been the catalyst to let him break free), Aqua, & Sora, and then running up to them after being restored holding Ven & crying when thanking him for keeping his promise nearly made me freaking cry. 😭😢 Amazing job as always!! Can’t wait for the next one with Xion & Saïx! THAT has to be the saddest moment in the entire game (minus whatever we may get in ReMind) and I can’t wait to see how you analyze the feels hitting us. 😭😢 Won’t you do one for the Truple Nort fight though, or would that be too much?

If you look closer at roxas hair it’s darker than ventis

With Sora and Vanitas: Sora might've been surprised by Vanitas' face because he thought the version he saw in 3D was an illusion. Riku's Darkness outfit from KH1 is very similar to Vanitas' outfit, Young Xehanort was bent on fucking with Sora that entire game, and the only other character that Sora ever saw that even looked similar to himself was Roxas. I think that Sora thought Vanitas was some messed-up illusion Young Xenhanort made to fuck with him, combining Dark Riku's outfit with an dark looking version of himself. And when he truly saw Vanitas' face, he was surprised because he realized that Xehanort WASN'T just fucking with previously.

Vanitas really did decide kinda, he is legit darkness from the age of fairytales and ven forced him inside if him to morph him into form they can defeat

Ah, to explain possibly why Sora didn't recognise Vanitas, it is said in the DDD novel that he only saw him fore "the barest sliver of a second". Let's be real here, it is unlikely for someone to remember something that only lasted a second lol. In addition, we have to consider Sora's character. He lives more in the moment and goes from one thing to the next; he's a 'do now think later' person. Then there's CoM, which showed us that he doesn't have perfect memory.

Terranort's fighting style is the same as Terra, so that saves me trouble for his Lightsaber style video. Vanitas is tricky though.

I love these videos and they've even helped me while writing my own stuff, but i gotta point this out; contect your sentences better. The easiest way to explain what i mean is when you talk about Vanitias's red glow around the keyblade at the end of the keyblade rollercoaster. Instead of saying "the black magic can be seen here" pause "theres little red and blue orbs around it as well" puase. Just say "that black magic effect can be seen again, however there are now little red and blue orbs surrounding it" same point is achived, only now it flows better.

Holy moly, I didn't know about Terranort's DM, it looks so sick and awesome, but maybe I know why I've didn't see it until now, I always goes for Terranort first and bench him already, since he is more annoying to deal than Vanitas

@Bio-Roxas On the same pillar as the Demyx Sitar sigil there is a sigil for what appears to be Xaldin's Dragoon Lances. This is pretty curious since Dilan was never considered for the New Organization, so why would they bother representing him here? Might there be other sigils representing the other previous Organization members like Lexeaus and Zexion somewhere in that labyrinth?

The cutscenes where the shadow rebels against Xehanort is so freaking badass dude!!! I love seeing the smug look on Xehanort's face just. Eat. UTTER. Shit!...as you see the shadow narrow his eyes towards him, teleport behind him and grabbing by his freaking head!! Doing him dirty JUST like Xehanort messed with him during BBS!!! Seriously, all I can think was stinkmeiner from Boondocks going, "WHAS MY NAME?!!?" *Grabs Xehanort's head* Xehanort: MMMM!!!??? Shadow: MMM?! MY MASTER DIDNT NAME ME MMM!!! *WHAS. MY. NAME!?!"* Like I WISH you could plays as Terra in the fight itself, just to feel the *utter* satisfaction of it all!! What's really gangster about this all is that it's his own freaking body and he'll ice it *JUST* to get back at Xehanort.
