Love that you demonstrated the soft touch switches. Very tempted to get one of these. I wish they had made one with more than 3 switches though. 6 would have been great, 3 on top, 3 on bottom.

I use rechargeable batteries with my shure wireless and the battery life I get is actually much longer than when I use energizer or duracell lithiums; I think that's because the voltage of nicads, while lower, stays constant for longer periods of time. the difference seems like weeks on a battery verses a weekend.

For digital equipment, the USB-chargeable AAA, AA, PP3 come in 1.5v as well as a 1.2v versions. Just make sure you choose the right ones . I haven’t tested my FS-1-we yet with the USB batteries, but I will do to see which work best

@@craigdavidson4378 I think most electronics these days have a voltage converter that boosts the voltage. My 1.2 volt nicads that are in my PageFlip butterfly page turner, for example, have been working for months without needing a recharge! what surprises me the most is: 1.5v rechargeables don't seem to have very good battery life-- based on RU-vid reviews. maybe, if I look again, I'll find some that out perform my 1.2 volt nicads but 1.5v batteries supposedly droop quickly.

Yes. You would have to set it up and then tell Logic what the keystroke is but yes you could.

This pedal will not connect to Windows 11 without a third party app such as ble-midi connect (available on windows store). Once you connect with an app like that you're good to go. (I have to edit this because I tried it with another windows computer and it paired with no trouble. My alienware (which has bluetooth) had the problem, but my Windows Surface Book had no problem).

Thanks for the video. Can this be set with an idle-timeout so it powers up when pressed and powers down after a period of inactivity (or when bluetooth is disconnected)? Climbing under a desk to switch the power button seems primitive.

Haven’t been asked that before. Doesn’t look like it via the app but that doesn’t mean it doesn’t. Might wanna reach out to Boss and ask.

@@JohnPaulMusicUK Thanks for that - I'll reach out to them to confirm but I can't see that type of feature documented anywhere. Similar wireless switchers seem to have it which may be a dealbreaker for the Boss. It's otherwise a great pedal - just wish they come with more than three buttons and auto-off.

Boss erase my comments but I’ll keep posting These devices are advertised as "Fully customizable", and it is not true, they are Locked for CC#'s 32-63 and 95-127. Your support answer was: Unfortunately, the FS-1-WL can not transit CC#'s 32-63 and 95-127,

Any as it’s programmable and you can set what the buttons do. ForScore is one of the best for sheet music. 👍🏻

@@JohnPaulMusicUK I had a GVIDO and think ForScore is "sort of OK." i.e. with GVIDO, I could set up navigation flows through my sheet music whereas, with ForScore, I have to duplicate pages.

Can you use this with boss katana go to switcg through presets? Like clean/lead/distorted rythm preset?

Depends on the Katana you have but certainly promoted with the Katana Air and the Waza-Airz as it uses Bluetooth. If there is no Bluetooth on board, then you can still plug in as long as the amp receives midi commands.

I have never seen a cc midi input with a drop-down menu. there is this big gap from cc 31- cc 64. this stoped me from using a lot of my sonicware smpltrack funktions wich competes with boss loopers! this b.s was on purpose! THANKS FOR HYPING A NOTHER CRAPPY PRODUCT! p.s. why the hell would you need a bluetooth foot switch for a daw?

Incredibly useful for a DAW whilst you're playing guitar or piano. I set mine for Logic Pro. Button 1 is go back to start, button 2 is Record and button 3 is play. This way you can sit comfortably wherever you want as long as the channel track is armed to record, and you can record and playback, and make multiple takes without having to be in arms reach of the computer or having to get up and stop and re-record every time when the computer is on the other side of the room.

@JohnPaulMusicUK How did you get the FS-1-WL to connect to the WIDI Jack directly? Or do you need to have an app in the middle like AUM or similar? Out of the box I am unable to get the Footswitch to pair directly with a WIDI Jack.

thanks for a helpful video! I have a few questions about versatility: 1. if I'm not always so interested in the wireless capability, for example when connecting to my RC600 with cables would I only have one control switch and one expression pedal available? Or could I have two control switches for the RC 600 instead? 2. could I have one switch controlling a pedal and the other two for turning pages on an iPad?

The difference is you have to think of this like a midi pedal and not an FS 6/7 pedal. You would be connecting via midi and it sends midi signals. That being said, it wouldn’t connect up to either of the RC-600 CTRL inputs leaving them free. 👍🏻 For your second question, technically yes.. but you would have to see if it connects to more than one device at a time. I suppose it’s possible.

Hi JP, and others who may also have an FS-1-WL. I noticed that yours seems to have "rubber feet" on the bottom. mine does NOT, and in fact it's very slippery - I can just imagine it scooting away during a gig. Did it come with rubber feet already attached? Maybe they should have been in the box with a peel-off-and-apply sort of thing? Have I perhaps received a B-stock item...? it is completely, er, bald, on the bottom, but there are six squares where common sense would indicate that a little rubber foot should be.

This does not work with IOS 17.2 on my iPad Pro 6th gen . It does work correctly on my iPhone 13 pro max with iOS 17.2.1

I’m on the same for both my iPad and iPhone and works fine. For the midi switch, make sure you are pairing with an app for Bluetooth midi and not trying to pair under the devices settings. It's not that easy. It will connect with my computer, but the editor will not connect and without the editor i can't use it to midimap my Daw. A complete day wasted. Any suggestions?

In Ableton it will only work with a cable (midimapping), not wireless:( or am i doing something wrong? The editor will only work outside Ableton.

I would look at wether you need it to control via CC# or wether you want the control to be a Keystroke which would mean changing the switch. If it’s CC# then program up the Cc you want via the app separately and then get the Bluetooth connected to the computer and it should work. Make sure you have the correct drivers on the computer for it to understand what it is. This can be found on Boss’ support page for it.

not good enough with katana-air: only patch up/down, bst-mod off/on, del-fx off/on, rev off/on, should have option channel up/down or even channel green/red/orange.

Expandability.. you can still connect expression and another FS-6 or FS-7 pedal to it as well as either sending Midi CC or Keystrokes.. and then there is also physical midi via TRS.

@@JohnPaulMusicUK Thanks for the answer but as far as i can see airstep also have those features if you get the full version of the airstep. In addition the airstep has 5 switches instead of only 3, longer batterylife and presets for different applications.

I think I figured it out. Seems latch and momentary are opposite of what I expected. And it looks like you can only get insert a fill between changing variation A and B. I thought I would be able to put a fill without changing. Hmmm, but maybe we can if we use, momentary on the variation switch
