You could program an entire nights worth of tones in one freaking patch. This unit is amazing. I only bought it cuz I moved from my house into an apartment and just wanted to use headphones. What I got was everything I ever needed.

@@GuitarNTabs Well actually I have 2 questions; can I activate/deactivate and control the looper using external foot switches? And, would you recommend RC-10R or RC-5 loop pedals? Thanks again!
@GuitarNTabs
@GuitarNTabs 3 года назад
@@AlbertoMorales-od1gh - Hi Alberto. Happy New Year. Thanks for getting back to me, I appreciate it. The Looper can only be activated by pressing the two footswitches that are set to do so, from the factory. An external footswitch, like the Boss FS-7, can help you assign effects and parameters, but not the Looper. I have no experience with those Loopers, but I would check each models' individual differences and then decide what unit I need. I hope this helps. Let me know. Cheers.

@GuitarNTabs 5 лет назад
Hey there, @Paul Walker! Thanks for the question and comment - and the kind words! 😊 Yes, FX1 and FX2 are the same - they are just placed at two different spots in the GT-1 signal chain - one for effects before the preamp and the other for effects after the preamp - as you say, FX1 for comp, for example, and FX2 for mod, etc. You can always move them around, if you wish to use them anywhere else in the signal chain. Hey there! The easiest way to do this, would be to use the GT-1's onboard Assigns - where you can control and activate multiple effects, with one footswitch or more. What effects do you need, for the rest of the patch? You have your preamp, chorus and delay, but what more do you need to activate? Best regards Cheers.

How do I get a good 80's or modern metal tone with the Boss GT-1 and using my Marshall DSL40CR amp? Im having trouble getting a nice metal tone. Also do I hook the GT1 in the back of the FX loop on the back of the amp or in the front and turn pre-amp off?
@GuitarNTabs
@GuitarNTabs 4 года назад
Hi there, Louis. Thanks for the comment and question. How you connect the GT-1 to your amp is up to you. It depends on which part of your setup you want to use - whether it's your Marshall amp or the GT-1's preamp models. I've heard good things about the DSL40CR so maybe you should try that first, by connecting the GT-1 to the input of your amp. Make sure to turn OFF the GT-1's preamp-button. Also, make sure to set the Output Select to Combo Amp. Then it's a matter of getting your Marshall dialed in, to sound the way you want it to - and then add the desired effects from the GT-1. If you connect through the Marshall's Effects Loop Return, then you're going to use the GT-1's onboard preamp models. Make sure to set the Output Select to Combo Amp Return and activate the preamp-button, and choose a desired preamp model. You could try the 5150 DRV or BGNR UB models, perhaps add an overdrive or distortion from the OD/DS section. Let me know what you think. All the best.

I run mine(DSL1) directly into the effects return and it kills! Allows me to dial in those COSM preamps to perfection. I've tried every output setting,all create distinct options, but line out/headphones works best for me with a single 12" Celestion cab. Also sounds great as just an effects unit ran through the fx loop, using dirt and wah on a pedal board in front of amp. Hella kit for recording all kinds of guitar tones & textures.

@GuitarNTabs
@GuitarNTabs Год назад
Hi there, Dyno Pascal. Thanks for your comment and question, I appreciate it. The 3 blue footswitches can not be set up to recall individual patches or sounds, no. However, if you want a patch with multiple tones/sounds, then you can easily do that. You do this by using the GT-1's Assigns. With those you can start out with a clean sound, then to an overdriven/distorted sound and lastly to a lead sound. I have several videos about this, here on my Channel, so check out these links: Boss GT-1 ALL In ONE Patch | Clean | OD/DS | Lead | Tutorial ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-zWwzN0CgA9w.html If you want to understand the Assigns, and its functions, then have a look at my 3 part Assign series: Part 1: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ThLNH0FjP7o.html Part 2: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-6U8Ih0nYQ_Y.html Part 3: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-3OF-e68CYHM.html I hope this helps. Hey there, Jose Rimar Roska 😊 Thanks for your question and comment - I appreciate it! Yes, the UP and DOWN footswitches will switch through the different patches - that's their main feature. Depending on how you save your patches, and order them, you can have a distortion patch next to a clean patch, and use UP and DOWN to get to them - that's simple. A tip, though... Hello Paul. Thanks for your comment and question, I appreciaet it. You would set up a patch so that you start with a clean sound, then use the GT-1's assign feature, to set up an overdrive/distortion pedal to be activated, or switching between preamp models, and then another assign can activate the Solo mode for the overdrive or distortion, depending on what you need. @@hitlarrajbhandari - Helo again, The preamp models in the GT-1 I can highly recommend. If your 15W amp doesn't have an Effects Loop, or an AUX In, or something similar, then I wouldn't recommend using the onboard preamp models... Instead I would recommend just plugging straight into the front input, like one normally would, and use the GT-1's effects instead. Hi and apologies for the unrelated question, but how do you find this pedal to be when compared to the M80 - in terms of sound quality primarily.
@GuitarNTabs
@GuitarNTabs 2 года назад
Hi there, Thanks for your comment and question, I greatly appreciate it. I haven't had any experience with the ME-80, so I can't really say... However, the GT-1 is more compact, in size, compared to the ME-80. The GT-1 has the same engine, effects, preamps, etc. as the GT-100, though there are a few features left out, on the GT-1 - and that makes sense, otherwise there wouldn't be any real difference.... Hello there, Michael. Sorry for the late reply... The BD2 should be the same as the BLUES OD, in the GT-1's OD/DS section. This is what the Parameter Guide says about the BLUES OD: "This is a crunch sound of the BOSS BD-2. This produces distortion that faithfully reproduces the nuances of picking" I hope this helps. Cheers.

Hey bro idk if you will see this comment but I have a boss rc 30 loop station and I’m planning to get the boss gt 1. So i have a question about how to hook the rc 30 and the gt 1 together. Do I hook the gt 1 to the rc 30? Or is it the other way around? And if to say I start a loop (on my boss rc 30) does the loop capture the effects with it and play back the effects of the gt 1?
@GuitarNTabs
@GuitarNTabs 5 лет назад
@ELITE GIAN - Hi there - thanks for your comment and question! 😊 Don't worry, I'll always see comments and questions, posted here on my videos. When working with a looper, you would always place the looper as the last pedal in your signal chain. So, in this case, you would have the RC-30 after the GT-1. Like this - Guitar --> GT-1 Input --> GT-1 Output --> RC-30 Input --> RC-30 Output --> Amplifier, or something similar to what you're going to use. The effects should be captured, depending on which effects are on, when recording the loop, but you should be able to activate effects as well, and get them to acts with the recorded loop 😊 The GT-1 has a total of 99 User and 99 Factory presets, so there's plenty of space. All of the 99 User presets can be edited, and you can Initialize everyone of the User presets, so that you can start completely from scratch - which is what I would recommend any-way. I hope this helps - let me know how it goes. Cheers.

An actual FX Loop is needed, in order to achieve placing effects before and after the preamp. Hey , Great tutorial man ! Im having difficulties controlling my volume when im switching between my patches. Ive made a patch for a song with a lot of overdrive and such. The next song in the set is more low key and therefore i have made a patch that matches that song. Hope you can help me :)

@@joachimandersen6321 - Hej Joachim!

Great video bro! So lemme see if I understand this, for each CTL pedal you have a number of "assignable" functions you can apply. Meaning, each pedal can toggle multiple effects on or off?
@GuitarNTabs
@GuitarNTabs 5 лет назад
@Samuel Naidu - Hey there. Thank you for your comment and question - I appreciate it! Thanks for the kind words as well 😊 Yes, overall... For each patch you have a total of 6 Assigns - A1 to A6. These assigns can either Toggle or Momentarily active any of the parameters and effects within the GT-1. So yes, one assign can activate an overdrive pedal, while another assign can turn off an effects, while a third one can alter a certain parameter, etc. Onboard the GT-1 you have the CTL1 - to that footswitch you can apply as many of the assigns as you want, and if you add an external footswitch - FS-6 or FS-7, then you can apply those 6 assigns to those extra switches as well. Allowing you, for example, to have a clean sound to begin with, then assign some effects, changes, etc. to go to an overdriven sound and perhaps a lead sound lastly. If that makes sense. That the overall aspect of it, yes. So you're able to toggle multiple effects on or off, yes. Let me know if you need anything else, I'd be happy to help out. It can be a little daunting at first, but once you've got it, then you'll be so happy! The possibilities are endless! Looking forward to hear from you. Cheers.

@@sammydodgers121 - You are very welcome, Samuel. It's nice to hear that you've been paying attention to the videos - you already know a lot, man! Keep it up 👍 Well, if your amp doesn't have an FX Loop, then there's no real way to work around it.. Sadly enough.. You could use your headphones, connected to the GT-1, instead of your amp.. and use the GT-1's onboard preamps that way. You could also buy a set of studio monitors, to work with the GT-1. I do that, and it sounds great - using the GT-1's preamps. That's correct, for most of the effects, you are able to select what type, when in that particular effects block, but for the Delay, you would have to press MEMORY-EDIT and scroll to find the Delay block, then place the cursor over that Delay block and then you'll see an option called TYPE. This will allow you to select the type of delay you want. I don't really know why Boss did that, and not like the other effects, but that's how it is 😊 I hope this helps. How will you be using the GT-1 with your electric violin? What would the GT-1 be connected to? An amplifier, a PA/Mixer or headphones? That would be handy to know, in order to help you get things set up correctly. Looking forward to hear from you Best regards Cheers.

Jimmy Mac Here again, This tutorial explains how to use the control and assign features but doesn't go into how to create and save a new patch from scratch. What is the name of your tutorial that does that for an novice like me? Assume I'm starting from a blank userpach, Thanks
@GuitarNTabs
@GuitarNTabs 3 года назад
Hello there, Jimmy! Thanks for your comment and question. You might be right, the tutorial is missing a few things.. That's why I'm starting to re-do my later videos. This will be one of them. I will start completely from scratch, with sound samples, and show how to create a patch. I'm working at the moment, the next few days, but then I will see if I can get things recorded and finished. I hope that's okay, but in the mean time, let me know if there's anything specific you would like me to add to the video. Thanks again. All the best. Cheers.

@@GuitarNTabs Actually, Boss should pay you to make these videos. I'm spending a great deal of time watching them. Their manuals are pretty poor. I figured out how to create and store a patch. I hope with all this work I can get some good patches out of it. There are way to many metal pre sets. Up until now I've used the Digitech RP-255 Great size for what it does. not bad sounds , the simplest unit to use and program but looking for variety of better sounds but it has to be small to fit on my board. I'm not sure when everything is turned off it is truly by passed. Your videos have saved me hours of frustration and headaches. Thanks for dong them again.

Thank you for watching, it means a lot to me, and I'm pleased to hear that my videos are of value. True, the Owner's Manual is just "surface" stuff... Nice, well done! I'm sure you will. Well, the GT-1 is the right choice, trust me. I've used mine live, for rehearsals and for recording at home, and it's just excellent! Hmm, I don't know, honestly.. It's probably as "bypassed" as you can get it. Thank you, that's nice to hear. Please let me know if you need anything, your support is greatly appreciated. All the best.

can you create a new patch without deleting a preset?
@GuitarNTabs
@GuitarNTabs 3 года назад
Hi there, You can create new presets in the preset section marked with an "U". If you change a preset, and save it, then the previous patch is overwritten. If you wish to save that existing patch, then make sure to copy and save it to another location, within the "U" and that should be it. I hope this helps - if not, then please let me know.

You select a User Patch by scrolling through U01 through U99, using one of the knobs under the LCD. It will be displayed right under, which knob you should use. You save a Patch by pressing both the Enter and Exit button, at the same time. This enters the Write menu, where you name the patch, as well as move it to other locations. It will make sense to you, once you enter the Write menu. You use the Enter button to proceed, once in the Write menu. I hope this helps. If not, then let me know. Cheers.
