Boss Katana MKII - My "MadRyan" Silver Jubilee Patch 

Awesome man! The more I've messed with the contour setting, the more I'm convinced at how huge an impact it has on the overall "correctness" of the sound you're dialing in.

Yeah man so a couple of reasons. First off it sounds great and can cover a TON of sonic territory and the built in effects sound good and unlike my tube amps, it doesn’t need a load box to run cab-less on stage (which our band does). We all use in ears and maybe an FRFR monitor on the stage behind us for some guitar stage sound. We are a 90’s and 2000’s rock cover band so having one amp that can do great cleans, edge of breakup crunch, classic rock crunch, modern rock and high gain is a big plus. I’ve gigged for years and years with just my jubilee and while it sounds great, it doesn’t do cleans and edge of breakup very well and is only okay sounding with higher gain stuff. It can also be temperamental and sound great one night but sound different another night. I’ve used all the modelers and they are great and still own my Fractal FM3 but the Katana feels a bit better to play and if I want to take a cab with me I can. The modelers would need a power amp. If I had to sum it up in one word it’s FLEXIBILITY. The katana can do kind of everything and does it all well. The cheaper models do have some features removed but I found this amp B stock like new on reverb for $400. I’ve had a MKI Artist combo for years and it’s great too but I wasn’t prepared for how much better the core sounds of this MKII would be compared to that one. Boss really got this thing dialed in.
