Lmao I like how Rugal’s entire move set is basically a bunch of absolutely insane bullshit that just makes you want to jump so he can punish you for jumping but when you don’t jump you face insane bullshit so you try to jump and get genocided.
Or, two difficulties. As is now is Normal Mode. Hard Mode is what you said. And the third difficulty, which I think should be called 90s mode, is what you said, but the AI feels like you’re playing against an actual human player.
@@whenisdinner2137 and health, and more input reading and chaining Gcs that can take 1/5 of your health and end with a super and his 1-frame kaiser wave that he can pull whenever he feels like it.
Rugal: Repeat after me: “I’ll never take on a god again.” Kyo: I beat Orochi… TWICE! Terry: I took down the literal god of war. Shun’ei: I defeated TWO gods, back to back! And I’ve only been in two games! Rugal: …Well now that’s just cheating!
3:58 This was a scene straight out of some anime when the bad guy shows his power for the first time and stomps the protagonist while walking through all his powers
2:41 (Jumps towards Rugal and gets hit with Genocide Cutter) Max: “There’s no jumping in on this boss” *Do it again* Max: “NO!” *Do it again* Max: “Stop stupid brain!” *dO iT aGaIn*
you know, he may not be as broken as he was in the first kof, but he's leagues better than what most fighting game "bosses" are considered these days. can't wait for repukken spamming Geese to show up in the boss rush mode next
Yeah but I don't see the point, after Max played Kof 94 if I am not wrong he decided to level down the difficulty. Why does anybody want those levels of suffering? Just to pass hours raging at the screen?
As someone who didn't grow up with SNK hard mode bosses in the arcades, I found Omega Rugal here quite challenging. Can't wait to see your 'Omegal legacy' to see what bollocks he gets up to there.
As an example, God Rugal in CVS2 (who was featured in an earlier boss rage) performs moves SO DAMN QUICKLY that the computer "busts pixels" to do it. As in, canceling out from one animation at the EARLIEST POSSIBLE FRAME to instantly counter whatever you just did to try and hit him. Jump over God Rugal's Reppuken to get in? The computer will instantly perform a Genocide Cutter at better-than-human reaction speeds to get the punish, doing it so fast that the game itself doesn't know what to do and replaces Rugal's sprite with a mess of pixels for a brief moment. Early SNK boss CPUs are SO BROKEN, the GAME ENGINE ITSELF can't keep up.
This is a great Boss Rage video of Omega Rugal in action. This version is definitely harder, but it is easy to see that SNK still toned him down here. They werent willing to put players against Omega Rugal in the 90s era of KOF games, where he was the source of TONS of screaming players venting their frustrations on their controllers. And one of the sources of the infamous "SNK Boss Syndrome."
Yeah, there was a huge fanbase created by those games but definitely a lot of people got pushed away because of the SNK Boss Syndrome. If you see the other competitors, Heihachi, Bison, even Gill, they are puppies in comparison to the easiest SNK boss, the really overdone it. But at least, Rugal is quite challenging, he's not a free win, you need to struggle a little to beat him
Considering what he is in this game and that there's prizes, I kinda get why they would make him less broken. It'd suck if only like the top 10 ranked in the world could beat him. This is a decent level for him to be at overall imo.
Props to the editor on this! He was disappointingly too easy. I suck at KOF and only know Terry well enough. Beat him first try. Once you find the AIs weakness, it's automatically a win. Playing fair will always be a challenge against these AIs, but hitting their weakpoint constantly will secure the win fast.
I thought this was going to take me at least 15 tries, ended up doing it in 5. Not as hard as he used to be, but now as for the announcement at the end ... ohhhhhh that's gonna be good, '94 and '95 alone are going to be pure masochism. '98 and 2k2 should also have some moments.
Maybe add the Health Regen thing. However, I saw a lot of people still struggling with him, although not as much as before. Unless.... of course, you use cheap tactics. At the end of the day, when we are against SNK bosses, we are masochist so hopefully they make him even more harder than he is (which, he is)
Max has also played through most (if not all) of the KOFs that feature SNK boss syndrome Rugal, so he knows how far SNK pushed the limits in previous games.
94 and 95 mostly because those ones felt more "experimental" and the damage was WAY too cheap. 2002 UM Rugal, while doesn't have that much of a cheap damage, can only be faced once each playthrough under very specific conditions, his damage is still WAY high, his AI can be sometimes freaking bullshit to deal with, has a lot of different moves for every situation, and a lot of other things. Yes, Genocide Cutter was the strongest in 94 for me, that's how I felt it back then, but 2002 UM in general is waaaaay worse.
Though it was fairly easy, it was still a ton of fun to see live, Max's reactions were priceless especially when Rugal popped super and walked slowly and it blocked everything Max threw at him! Now the real test is next! I can't wait to see Max go through the Rugal Boss Rage legacy!
It should've a second phase (2nd health bar), where he removes the coat or something. I'm a "filthy casual xD", and I beat it in like 9-10 tries. PS: Max should try Rugal in KOF 2002 vanilla:
Sad that it was so easy :( Also going back and fighting all the versions from past KOF games on the hardest difficulty, why is Max doing this to himself lol. Its going to be so painful but oh so sweet to watch :)
for now the hardest lvl is lvl 5 on kof 15 i hope snk patch this up and give us lvl8 cpu difficulty thats how i get my ass beaten in the old days the lvl8 cpu is unforgiving especially the bosses very specificly rugal dont belive me try him on kof 2002
*I don't really care if he wasn't hard or not, im just SUPER HAPPY that I unlocked his really awesome Omega Costume first try and he's my Central Main Now..* Also good luck fighting Omega Rugal in KoF 2002 Max.
In vanilla 2k2, Rugal had a few easy exploits, K' can cheese the AI pretty well with his fireballs and time him out, did it all the time on Level 8 difficulty. Now 2k2 UM Rugal, now that's another story!
2k2 UM Rugal is the hardest Kof boss imo there are requirements to reach him (you can't lose more than 2 rounds, this even applies to all the NESTS Bosses) and his AI is so broken and you get only one chance to beat him.
@@saadhasan2518 Up to 3 rounds you can lose during the ENTIRE Arcade run, and NESTS boss must be defeated either without losing a round (single play) or your 1st character, or on your decisive round (2nd or 3rd character... assuming you lost up to 3 rounds in the entire run at that point and one or two of them were against the boss) with a DM/SDM/MAX2 move, not to mention that losing the match is instant Game Over (you get the game credits, but as far as the game is concerned, you ACTUALLY failed to beat it).
i really wish if there is an option of additional difficulty like "deadly difficulty" which will be like the arcade lvl8 diff so everybody from both sides would be happy , also the health regen between chars could be a thing too
hat health recovery should be a thing for this boss inbetween new characters or at least have his defenses increased like a f ton so most moves do little damage to him on the highest difficulty.
7:34 The balls on this man!!! I have a really baaaaaad feeling about this!! Im from Mexico Max and I sincerely wish you the best of luck fighting All Rugals......VAYA CON DIOS MIJO!!
you were able to beat him up at 5 tries? meanwhile someone yesterday took him like 20 tries to beat him 😂😂😂😂 note: you're not ready for 94,95 and 2002 original rugal bruh
Might not be as hard as we thought it would be but thankfully it’s harder than Otoma Raga and it leaves growth for future boss challengers such as nightmare geese or Igniz Also 2002 UM rugal is gonna make max lose his mind I can already tell
Starting with the fact that each time he fails, he MUST replay the entire Arcade mode run... unless he use VS CPU mode and just beat 1 Rugal (while having the pick the same character up to 3 times option enabled to use it as a shortcut to not lose his mind about having to restart arcade mode, and the game will give bosses in VS CPU mode their Arcade Mode boss status (not sure about Goenitz and Nightmare Geese if you ask me).
Yes, I'm wonder why SNK decided to change this after all the previous years. If they regenerated health like in all the previous games, people wouldn't be complaining so much about how easy were to beat the final bosses (and Omega Rugal would be way harder to beat).
@@davidnoimporta7668 At the very least it could regenerate when it's in the red (or rather, "in the orange") just so people can't do what Max ended up doing here.
I like to imagine Max did a test run of KOF 94 on the hardest difficulty, saw just how badly cracked the AI was, and decided his sanity wasn't worth the trauma he'd go through for the whole series, abandoning the idea.
Oooh "Rate the Rugals". This will be painful yet entertaining. Please do it! Challenge-wise, 2002UM Rugal will be a nightmare just for the requirements alone, and if you fail, you start back to square one... no continues. So good luck with that, Max. CVS2 God Rugal could still be top contender for hardest iteration of Rugal in history. But can't wait for that list.
And now I have some Boss Rages I am really looking forward to =D Also, about this Version of Omega Rugal: I mean, he is definately the easiest, BUT a lot of stress on the old games already comes from the PATH LEADING TO HIS BATTLES! THAT is already so stressful that you are usually already worn out once you get to him! By having him avaiable as a selectable Boss in the menu kinda makes it easier already, since you are in peak condition when you fight him, without the struggle beforehand!
Im from México. Idk if you really think Rugal is banned from every single game on any circustances from México. But no, the reality is, the most played versión of KOF was 2002. Magic plus. KOF 2002 has the most brutal versión of rugal. Because even if is being used by a player it has every buff the boss versión had. Extreme damage, extra life, etc. That's where the meme come from. Using rugal on KOF 2002. Makes you look like a really bad player who just want to win by any means and just pick the most op characters. And to make it worse. On kof02 magic plus, this means infinite supers. So they spam supers with characters like k99999, Rugal, Kula, etc.
I was kinda disappointed that Omega Rugal wasn’t as hard as he was back in the older games. I was surprised he didn’t have the HP regen. Maybe SNK wanted to play it safe and not turn off players from playing the game further. But I do wish they added the option to give him the old school AI and the HP regen (which could be based on how much damage he deals). My guess is they’re waiting on Geese and another boss character before they release a boss team challenge.
@@dragons_hook Yeah, I feel like at this point SNK should have a pretty good idea on how to make their bosses stupid hard, but just stupid enough that they can still be beaten.
I've seen some beginners/intermediate and casuals get theirs a** whopped by him... maybe thats what SNK intended to do. still is missing some hell mode for more hardcore fans, but is great to have him back
That will be the one in which he will suffer, not only with Rugal, but with the entire Arcade mode due to the you can't lose more than 3 rounds in the entire run condition alone, and also having to beat the NESTS boss with your 1st character or with a DM/SDM/MAX2 move if you can't do it with your 1st character (winning by time with your 1st character is A-OK by the way).
The sudden build-up and hype that Max will be doing for Boss Legacy: Omega Rugal when you watch it on stream was (mwah) *PERFECTO*. His theme at the end is also perfect
I'm hopeful they patch this fight by adding an OMEGA difficulty with recovering health, extra damage, more input reading, only the most cheese teams and strategies can prevail.
2:01 that combo was sick!!!!!!. I forget how mad Rugal makes me. I went through 2 Sega saturn controllers just trying to beat him in the 98 dream match. Lmao 💀
I feel this version of Rugal seems easy boils down to 2 factors: 1) Basically what Max said, SNK is finally breaking into the north American fighting game scene and it makes sense to not risking all that goodwill by giving good ol' SNK Boss Syndrome. 2) A lot of the old players know all the B.S. Rugal can do, so they know how to play against him and the cheapness, so it makes sense that the fight feels waaaaay easier than before. However, we still have The G Man looming on the horizon and he might be another deal, also there's still lovable Igniz to be on the lookout
I think Max is gonna be super bumbed out by the end, because Rugal isn't as hard as he thought he would be... Edit: I was right! And he's even gonna okay the older versions of Rugal too!
Me, at first: I don't expect much tbh... SNK used to be the standard according to which unfair boss fights were compared and judged, but that was back in the '90s and KoFXV is just too casual friendly. I cannot imagine that it will have an arcade-level challenge... Me, in the end: On one hand, I was right. On the other hand, Max, what in the bloody Lifestream have you gotten yourself into...?
This video was awesome and really fun. Specially for the edits. Truly awesome and I would love to see Max take into every Rugal Boss in top difficulty and find out what he said
Most of the time is actually Max playing against himself. Max: "Don't jump" -Immediately and reflexively jumps- Max: "I'm dumb" hahahahahahahahaha.. Love this video.
The hardest Rugal by far is the KoF02UM version.... Not only is he ball bustingly hard to get to. Not only is he ball bustingly hard to beat.... You get one try.... You get, ONE TRY PER RUN. Even the game just says "do your best."
I think SNK doesn’t want to scare off newer players looking for the rewards, hopefully they’ll see that KOF fans are true masochists that want the real high heeled ball stomping experience. They should add tiered difficulty to each boss with more bullshit on each level.
I feel like they tried to get this Rugal as close to the harder bosses of the series as they could WITHOUT making him just straight up read all your inputs. Unluckily for SNK, that was the A.I’s main advantage…
