Hey guys, just want to clarify one point. If you made it to the end of the video, minute 26:48, we are NOT talking about Todd Warren, from Apocalypse Performance. He's been nothing but helpful to us throughout the build. This "other guy" is someone else out in Montana and has no connection with Todd.

Awesome job guys!! Just finished doing a timing kit, oil pump and lash adjusters on my Aussie 260 Boss 5.4. Some things I learnt along the way. If you buy a Navigator timing kit the left hand or driver side large sprocket is 6 degrees retarded compared to the right hand side. Something to do with pollution. Aussie motors are set up even on each side. My cams are crow Performance cams with 220 @ 50 timing in and ex. And 435" lift. I advanced these cams to 108 in and 112 ex with a 110 lsa. The performance improvement was worthwhile with no loss in idle quality. There is a rollmaster adjustable kit with Iwis chains available in this country at outlaw speed shop (online). The primary chains are not included though. Use the genuine Ford ones for Navigator or Aussie Boss 260/290. Also use genuine cast iron primary tensioners. Also you will need an aftermarket passenger side secondary tensioner. Buy a Melling 3v oil pump as the gerotor set is larger to account for the vct. And the Melling pump actually has a cast iron backing plate. Use 40 GT500 exhaust lash adjusters as they apparently provide the top end with more oil pressure. Something you will need with 2 extra cylinders and almost double the stock rpm capability!! Good luck with the build, will be following along keenly!! Tim Australia.

Your channel just popped up in my feed. I have watched majority (fabrication ones) of this build. I always heard the Triton was junk. A couple of my takes which probably have been stated elsewhere are the following. I would have pressed in short tubes for oil galley connections. Second a deeper groove for better penetration of welds connecting head halves together. Interested in if the heads split at welds later on. But I like your approach and methods with a hindsight point of view. Great job so far.

One thing to note when using black AN fittings for hot coolant- cheap anodizing on some fittings will turn them GOLD after some heat cycles. Seen it several times when I worked at a hot rod shop. XRP is a brand I have seen NOT change color from 200° coolant. Edit: didn’t know you would be welding these, the gold showed up pretty quick lol

Very cool build. I worry about the crankshaft. Even though it's forged, 4"+ stroke is a lot with split pins. Ford actually tested a 4v 5.8 v10 that was basically a 4.6 with 2 extra cylinders. They went with an odd fire common pin crankshaft. Keep up the good work.

A possible explanation for the plastigauge reading tight or being seen as innacurate is because plastigauge measures clearance differently to a bore gauge. A bore gauge looks at a single empty bore in isolation, plastigauge is reading the distance between a bore and the object that gets installed in it as a whole system. When you guys welded the heads and one of the cams was bound up, if you put plastigauge on the cam bearing journals it would show up as though there was little to no clearance between the cam and the journal it was bound up on, but putting a bore gauge in that same journal would have shown that the bore should have plenty of clearance. I think that is what the plastigauge you put on the crank is showing: the tiny mis-alignments of the crankshaft main bearing journals. I have no idea if you should, or even could, do anything about those mis-alignments. Seeing as you guys already have gotten the engine running, I don't think theres anything to worry about, theres probably higher performance engines with worse mis-alignments than you have.

The problem is that it’s a 6.8 platform. 3.55 inch bore 4.17 stroke… Turn a 5.0 Cammer or a 5.0 Coyote into a V10 platform. Better yet, make bespoke 72 degree V10 cam in block with Roush Yates NASCAR style heads 12:1 C/R 4.00 bore x 3.25” stroke 408 cubic inches @9,000 rpm 802hp!

At 13:1 compression, what minimum octane fuel are you going to have to run? Can you get by with 93...? I've been told that anything beyond 11.5-12'ish needs more than 93..?

We are lucky to have E85 readily available, so we will be running that.

@@biy_buildityourself Hmmm, didn’t know E85 would run on higher comp ratios.

Where did you get a 10L engine from and did you make the heads out of a coyote engine or what

The block is a Ford 6.8L block. The heads are 4V cobra C heads that were cut and welded together.

I recently had a 2 deal with a lier & cheat in Melbourne Australia 🇦🇺. Wasn't Engine or Car related. Road Cycling Bike .... expensive $$$ upgrade. Paid out $3550 aud for the Groupset Upgrade 10 weeks ago. Knew he was lying 2 weeks after that . Last week l pulled the order . This week on Monday l told him l knew he was lying & said he used the funds $$ 2 pay the Bills . Hopefully 2k enters my account over the weekend. Found another Bike Shop 2 do the upgrade next week. Previous Shop missed out on a New Bike 4 my Birthday mid yr . Over 21k & an indoor bike trainer @ $2,650k . Plus my original upgrade. This is what happens when U lie in your teeth . And keep lying . Glad u guys found someone who did the right thing by u guys . 👦 Really looking forward 2 the Dyno Session.

should have just used a 90 fitting in the cooling port not a 90 elbow, u can use a 90 fitting and then use a straight fitting the run the hose to the back
