If you can't buy it, Build it! Follow along on our first project of putting together the World's First Ford 6.8L V10 40 Valve. Ford teased a 4V head V10 that never made it to production. We are putting together the closest thing we can to that DOHC V10. There will be a lot of designing, fabricating, and just plain ole guessing as we work through these uncharted areas. But, as we encounter hurdles and mess ups (there will be plenty), we will do what we need to to get around them with what we have at our disposal. Let's do this!
As a huge fan of the potential in the 6.8, i have been enamored with this build and the ingenuity from these artists. I discovered the channel just as you guys finished building the 4v heads and I've been hooked. I do, however, have one complaint..... We have a 2v sitting in our shop waiting for the right project, and i wish i had an 1/8th of the talent on this channel. Between the heads and the headers, I would love to engineer or atleast have access to these parts. Keep it up guys, this thing is amazing.
where do you find those stl/obj, ect files for the exhaust flange, headers, collector, ect looking at doing my own exhaust on my twin turbo 5.4 4v modular motor but cant find those files anywhere
Its a shame this buildseries doesnt get more views, yeah the videoproduction could be a bit better but the knowledge conveyed in the videos and the whole build concept is just insane. Gotta love the yt algorithm
this thing is sick!! the only thing that could make this thing sound even better would be to have stepped headers(maisteer cracked the formula. checkout his video on this topic), i'm sure you guys don't want to touch this collector after so much work but it would be pretty sick to make them stepped headers, and maybe you guys only have to change a portion of each runner, to make it work. Cheers!
Excellent work on the headers and sticking with it, I know it can be crazy frustrating! I cannot WAIT to hear it howl and see the finished car, hopefully at SEMA!
Wonder how many big youtubers/builders low-key following this? Not enough subs that's for sure. Should be way more. I hope the channel blows up! PS - I see a supercharger in its future. Some 1 off giant 4L whipple!
Loos great, but the main reason ( other than cost obvs) that Ford used log- style manifolds is the less space they require. Its gonna get tight in the engine compartment with these massive headers, definately should look into coating them and adding a few heatshields where necessary :)
You can’t put black ink on stainless. Everywhere he wrote on the pipes will crack. The carbon in the ink is incompatible. Next time, if you don’t want to ruin the exhaust, use a silver pencil to make your marks, or, write on tape, not the tubing.
I found your channel 6 months ago and am now binging from the start. As a retired ME I'm very impressed with all that you've been able to accomplish in a home garage setting but LOL at the spark plug debacle. Been there many times myself. Nice that you guys show the good and bad!
Just a tip, when welding thin stainless try using a 0.045 filler rod. It takes a lot more heat to melt larger filler rod. This will let you make smaller tack with less heat and are much easier to hide when finish welding.
