In this video, I give you a look at the new BougeRV Sunflow 60 amp MPPT solar controller installed into my fifth-wheel trailer off-grid power system. The 60 amp controller will be a perfect match for my 940 watts of rooftop solar and eliminate the need for and complexity of running two 40 amp controllers like I have been doing.
Features include Bluetooth capability for smartphone monitoring/setup, up to 20A load control, and low-temperature disconnect for lithium batteries. Other favorite features include a large aluminum heatsink, so no fans are required, and screw terminals for wire ring connectors. So far, I've been using the Sunflow for 2 months without an issue.

Nice review... Married life is changing you. Eliminating multiple systems, cleaning up the electrical & wiring board, things looking neat & tidy, Don't even need a 'road map' (schematic ) to follow the routes. In all sincerity though; it really looks great.

I purchased a 60 Amp MPPT charger for 4x200W panels on my truck camper build. On paper the 60 Amp is enough, but is it a good idea to run them close the spec limit (I see in you commented 60Amp is well matched to 940W)? I was thinking of purchasing a smaller one in case it is not enough, but the 15 Amp Victron is heavily discounted on Amazon now. Is there advantage to have seaparate controller for each panel to minimize shade?

It should be good. With sun angle, atmosphere dust, wire losses, etc, real-world wattage is often lower than rated wattage for solar panels. Usually, 85-90 percent is a good average harvest rate in summer and much lower in winter. They rate the max wattage in perfect lab conditions, so anything in the ballpark I find is good in real-world usage if the controller is well built. Parallel panel wiring is good for combating shade. Although the latest modern panels now have many more bypass diodes so, even in series, they are more shade tolerant these days. Multiple controllers are good if the maximum solar wattage for just one is too much. I torture-tested one of the 40 amp controllers during a heat wave just to see how it would react ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-IGdCA_e3nVg.html When they run too hot you lose power. So if you're a hot weather summer RVer off-grid, it may be better to have multiple controllers.

@@LoveYourRV Thanks for pointing out the other video. I never got much above 80% when I tested the panels (Rich Solar) after I got them in the Summer. The power generation is supposed to improve at lower temperatures but I was too lazy to drag everything out to test them again. If in practice they do not go above 90% then there is some margine and power loss will be minimal. Thank you for sharing. After watching and learn from your videos all these years I hope to get out there soon.

Yes, it has input power limit protection and over-temperature protection.

I have three size 31 deep cycle batteries with 800 watts total of solar panels. How many amps maximum should I use to charge these batteries. I have the same controller that you are using.

You could look up the spec sheet for your make and model of battery it should tell you the optimal charge amps to use for longest lifespan. Most RVs come with built in converter chargers so you could go by that. The OEM charger in my fifth wheel is max 55 amps. When I had four golf cart batteries I used to charge the bank at max 60 amps and didn't have any issues.
