This is how I push bowing walls back into place with 4 inch wide flange I beams 13 lbs. I use screw jacks pushing against a 2x8 after I install 2 concrete stakes into the concrete. I anchor the top of the beam to the floor joist using 2x8 and 4x4 post using the weight of the house to push against the block wall. I order my beams from a place called ALRO steel. Once the wall was back into place I used rapid set mortar mix to fill all holes on the inside and outside. Outside I then applied foundation tar and a peal and stick membrane. After that attached a dimple board using tap cons at the top of the dimple board. Finally, I back filled the hole. Inside, I added gravel around the beams as well as cut a piece of steel to go in between the beam and the concrete to keep the beam in place until the concrete has dried around the beam. Somehow I deleted some of the video content of this job. Check out this video if you want more info. • Bowed basement walls, ...
I find I get the best results if I excavate on the outside. Thank you for watching

Thanks for the information. Been a really big help. I bought an old farmhouse at auction and the basement cave in I’m damn near 70 but I’m still gonna try it. Thanks again.

Thanks for watching. I will say it’s a lot of work, but can be done. If your farmhouse is a stone foundation I have no idea if this method would apply. My best results have been with excavating the outside dirt. Bowed basement walls, I beam install ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-uADOIGWbybo.html

Whoa! Did you do all of work by yourself? I can only imagine what that would cost to have a company come in and do that work. Thanks for the clear explanation of the process and the steps involved.

Yes, I did the work myself. I work a really weird schedule because I watch my kids throughout the day. It's hard to coordinate schedules with other handyman or helpers.

Nice work, the house is looking good! It looks like it was fighting you every step of the way.

I would weld angle liners as crossmembers for reinforcement

Guess it would be a good drinking discussion. When we have issues like this we abandon the wall or at least take a bunch of the load off. About every 3-6ft, pour footers, install posts and set support beams across the posts to catch the joists.

That's interesting. I"ve seen basements where someone has poured another concrete wall in front of the bowing wall tying the blocks to the poured wall. This wall gave me a hard time but over all I find basement jobs fun I enjoy the challenge.

Hey bro i have a good question for you … my garage is made out of concrete , the sides , and the roof ! The walls are about 7 feet high of concrete , its cracking and bowing towards the inside … with having a concrete roof sittings on those walls , could i do the same thing that you do and push the wall back out ? Or should i just put beams in order for the wall not to keep coming in … i think i hahe about a 2inch difference from the middle towards the top

Interesting that the roof is concrete. Can’t say I’ve seen that. My issue would be how would u attach beams at the top. Maybe a piece of angle iron with concrete anchors. Another option is to get some quotes to repair, you would get some ideas of how they would repair.

@@handylandlord hahaha yeah man , not sure why the build it like that to be honest ! It makes it really heavy on the walls for sure plus with that land moving after every big winters we have ! The top id be able to anchor it into the concrete somehow for sure ! I have a guy coming to check it out this week see what could be done , its going to be interesting

How long did the whole project take you? And your estimated cost? Trying to decide what to do with our foundation problem

wow, looks great! I have several basement walls that are bowing a little from downspout drains. I've looked at hiring Acculevel to correct this. But they're extremely expensive. I'm curious how much this all cost you to do. I might try to hire it out to one of my contractors. Great job!

I've received quotes before from basement companies and am normally shocked. 5 beams at 95 inches $760. Tar, peal and stick membrane, dimple board, concrete and wood about $600. I get my equipment rental for free because of pro perks. I wish I could find someone to excavate the wall for me. Reached out to several people no luck. Thanks for watching maybe another video you will like. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-uADOIGWbybo.html

So you're pushing the bottom...I have one that is 30' long - poured concrete 7' high...leaning in at the TOP by a 15° angle! How to move THAT one?!

I've got poured walls with a 1.5in lean on the top. We found this video when the quote guy came out and showed us this beam method but you anchor the beam to the floor and use the jack to push from the top. Top is supported by the floor joists and you just work really slowly.

I've never seen anything like that before.
