Too many channels on youtube just talk about weights for hitting PR's and gaining muscle. OTA is the only channel that actually goes multiple steps further than that to help you take those weight numbers over onto the field. Best fitness channel on youtube. Plain and simple.

pls make this happen, you dont need to give us detailed workout but tell us how should we rearange workouts, how do we combine explosive training with strenght etc. Im really confused how should I split my days

Explosive concentric, slow eccentric. Like you're going for a muscle up without using leg momentum, aim at touching your chest to the bar, and slowly lower. Best of both worlds in my mind. Vary the grip. Thoughts everyone?

I agree on the explosive concentric (maybe add a clap in there) but there´s also the strech-shortening cycle that I believe has to be as fast as possible and with a slow eccentric you don't get that, but I'm not sure at all

Weighted for 3-5 reps. Pull to the chest and pause shortly. Lower with control but not slow. Paus at the bottom for 1-2 seconds. Vary grip

If you focusing on force production for vertical jump, would you do box squats or regular squats? Would adding resistance bands to the squats make a difference for the muscles?

Hey chris. I got a question. So I want to dunk. Been training for it for a while but just can't get past a plateau at 33 inches. I am pretty sure I lack speed within my jumps. I am more of a power jumper. I can squat and deadlift 2.5x my bodyweight. Should I stop strength training and focus purely on speed and power training? Thanks.

Why use the box? It seems to only serve to make people want to lift their feet rather than jump higher. Use a Vert-tec stick thing instead, right?

Do you think training overall leg strength is better than focusing on plyometrics? Since you can’t really train your muscles to contract faster since that’s genetics?

You can train your muscles to contract faster, it has a lot to do with elasticity, which can become better by doing the right type of plyometric work. It's definitely better to train overall leg strength in season but outside you should focus on both

will doing box jumps with a weight vest improve my results more than it would if I didnt use them? Pls answer. Ive been doing a lot of my plyos with weights but I dont know if that hurts or helps.

Should help. Just as long as you aren't spending too much time producing force into the ground in order to compensate for the extra weight. Remember, power is work divided by time. If you take two athletes both weighing the same and producing the same amount of force into the ground, which one will jump higher? The one who spends the least amount of time producing that force.

It's for training, it does't matter the amount of force produced into the ground, on the contrary, it will be helpful. The real question is: who will be faster, if two athletes with different weight are training, and after some time, the heavier lost his weight to equal the light athletes, who will jump higher? The one who had extra weight while training.

Thanks this helps a lot. If you guys can help with one more question. I've been studying static stretching and every article I read never gives me the answer I'm looking for. How much can static stretching after workouts improve my vertical? And if I do it consistently when will I start to see results? If you know a little a bit about it plz help me

No doubt about the extreme benefits of stretching in general, but I prefer slow and long time stretch. Try yoga, I can't say enough about it, it gave me faster recovery. After heavy training, just doing the yoga session and I am recovered and fresh again for another physical activity. Wish you the best Messiah
