I dont give a rat @$$ what he did in a class room or at home. There was 0 reason to lock him up like a caged animal.

The boy needed counseling not solitary confinement. All these people blaming the victim should be ashamed of themselves.

That witness irritated me so much. How hard is it to get a babysitter to watch your kids for 20 minutes so you're not constantly looking off the screen and paying attention to something that isn't the trial? Even the judge had to stop and ask her to pay more attention.

You don't have to be Albert Einstein to know that this was is child abuse. I have kids and yes they work all the heck out of my nerves with their behavior at times. But under no circumstance would I EVER put them in a box with a bucket etc. What these people did is beyond criminal it's sick. And they should be held accountable.

I'm sorry to say, but this teacher comes across as not only distracted but also rather unprofessional and unintelligent. It's like she's chatting with friends or something. I'm not suggesting that she was being dishonest, but she did not appear to be taking this as seriously as court should be taken.

I love how they all talk about the boy acting up but not the fact that he’s been abused almost his entire LIFE not just the last 3 years. He was locked in a room at their old house before they moved to FL & the things he done wasn’t really all that bad considering what he’s endured. Imagine watching your sisters live a normal life where they have friends & sports & electronics all the while you’re in a cell & no matter what you do, you can’t do anything right (the sister testified to that) Ppl go mad in solitary confinement & when you think of the psychological warfare you’d think he would’ve done a lot worse.

I would not want this educator anywhere near my kids. Imagine justifying years of abuse and cruelty towards a vulnerable child. Of course he will act up, what we are hearing is just the surface of what went on. Despicable 🤢 🤮

Zoom is awful for court. Teacher was distracted and was clearly watching her child while providing testimony. Not a good defense witness at all.

This kid was doing everything he could other than screamin help. The other family members were shown preferential treatment and of course it angered him, thus the reason for acting up. Discipline is one thing, but locked in a cell is abuse. LOCK up the parents and put them in a cell.

Imagine signing on to justify child abuse in front of a jury. Like no one is forcing you. You just volunteer for it.

The scary part with the defense witnesses is they were blaming the little boy. The defense witnesses are just as sick as the parents. Shame on them. One was a school teacher and had children. Let that sink in .

My much older brother was made to take me to school one day ..he was angry & had me in tears on the way. He pushed me out of the car & threw my books out on the pavement. I was humiliated. Do I believe that he should have been locked in a dark box with no water, food ,toilet or social interaction ? No!! But it would have been a plus if my parents would have gotten help for themselves...all was a reaction from our home life. Disgusting that the defense is trying to justify the abuse to that young child.

Not a reason to lock a child in a windowless hot room with no access to water or a toilet for hours upon hours. My son was mean to my daughter when they were young and I never locked him in a cage. This type of thing is commonplace among siblings.

I would not have this woman teach my child. That she is testifying about something like this is crazy.

So what. They treated him worse than a dog and he had to watch his not a sister be treated great. If he had ripped her hair out I'd still say so what. That's not an excuse to do what they did to him. Jail is not going to be friendly to them.

The way the defense kept bringing up this incident between him and his sister I expected it to be a lot worse. Basically he called her out in public, she got embarrassed, and cried. (This was brought out during cross...not sure why it wasn't included in this video). Something tells me the reason his parents were so harsh on him was also because they were embarrassed and it reflected badly on them as parents. No reason to confine him to a box for hours and hours though. A verbal reprimand would have been enough.

Having a priest in the courtroom supporting the parents would automatically cause me to view the parents as guilty.

Keeping the boy in a box was a "secret" and because it was a secret there are no witnesses. Furthermore, if the parents felt justified in what they were doing, why did they lie about the reason for the box - not only to the contractor but to the officers as well.

He’s been through so much just being up for adoption at his age. No stable life. Of COURSE he’s going to have issues. It’s expected. Which is why kindness is so necessary to be a foster parent

So am I to understand that the defense is basically saying as long as the parents felt justified in their punishment, but “didn’t mean the child any harm or have any malicious intent” then their actions are forgiven?!!! If this is a valid excuse for child abuse, then every perpetrator of child abuse wouldn’t be held accountable. I pray the jury isn’t buying into this pathetic and sick defense

Disgusting they are concerned the one child was embarrassed by her brother but not how embarrassed he was daily. This behavior is taught. He’s learned shaming is ok from his parents behavior with him.

They adopted a CHILD from Vietnam and treated him not only differently than the rest of the family but treated him close to an animal. Let us not go down the road of him being made the villian. If they had any behavioural issues with him they should have stepped up and sought help. Help - not a handyman to build a box. This is shameful and repugnant. If the child had behavioural issues since being caged (although cages have bars to see out) it is not hard to see that locking him up in a box was NEVER going to make him better or the family dynamic. It is simply putrid what this 'mother' and 'father' did to a teenage boy. That he made his sister cry? I am sorry for the daughter but he was calling out for help. So the parents have abused their other children who have some distorted comprehension of what was going on.

This is absurd. What he did absolutely does not warrant being locked in a room. Every brother makes their sister cry. And vice versa 🙄

Build that box in the courtroom have each juror sit in for an hour.

But hasn’t he literally been TAUGHT the art of harassment? I might feel a way about the person who wasn’t exiled into the garage too. Also, aren’t the siblings corroborating his accounts of everything? The siblings haven’t complained about their older brother, have they? Maybe what he was doing was looking for negative attention as a cry for help?

Nothing like a bad video connection and a witness distracted by a child!? Does the court not give parameters and overall rules to these witnesses being examined via video? I get not all people have access to sitters but this is a serious court trial not a casual interview for a job. Get a neighbour to watch your child for 20 minutes. Its why they don’t allow people to show up with their kids on the stand!

No one should be locked in a dark room for hours no matter what. The parents should have got professional help if the boy was so out of control. Not lock him in a room that was clearly built for him without windows a bathroom and a light he couldn’t even control. If this isn’t child abuse, I don’t know what it is.

Victim blaming disgusting. Probably more likely acting out out of frustration from being locked in a box for 18 hrs, emptying a bucket everyday, and having no control over anything.

First of all the kid is a kid. And usually people who are bullied tend to become bullies. However, trying to discredit the victim because he was abused by his father is not ok. Regardless of the kid embarrassed his sister, the kid did not deserve to be locked up in a 6 x 6 room for more than 18 hours a day with a bucket to urinate in and no AC. The teacher should be ashamed of herself. Clearly she has an objective.

Teacher said father was understanding..basically nice...WELL...I survived an abusive husband and he presented as a great guy and nice...Behind closed doors was a different story

Just curious, is that allowed- I've never seen someone testify, which is obviously a very serious thing considering one must be sworn under oath... while having children running around the room, and frequently looking off to the side and below.

Tim is clearly a master manipulator. He’s one person to everyone outside of the home but on those recordings inside the home, he wasn’t supportive or understanding at all.

She can not remember for sure what grade she was teaching or most of the dates but she can acuse a young boy of humiliating his sister? Any particular real reason why she is no longer teaching? I’m just curious. From who he learned that behavior? Hum! May be at home, could he be emulating his parents behavior? Or perhaps was his kid way of getting even from been so frustrated of been in a boxed room while little sister is out and about? Again why people adopt children’s from other countries if they are not fully aware of the extend of the commitment? Our own kids can test our patient to make us felt terrible but our love and knowledge of commitment will always prevent us from crossing the line. Is that knowledge and love that help parents to learn how to pull throughout difficult teenage years. Unfortunately, there are few people that think a child is jus another toy, pet or mile stone they need to conquer and control. This is the classic example of group of people that neglected a child, blame the child and punished the child for their own mistakes. Or perhaps this is another example of why some people should not be allowed to get children without someone be aware of the existence of the child. So that the child could have some type of help and protection in case those parents can not handle the situation. At the end no one wins… here I see two people that are arrogant and in denail😢 of any wrong doing. This witnesses are been misleading to say what they may or not perceive as good faith. How long this witness had if any, interact with the family? One incident with a child do not define that child. It is sad to know that in many instances teachers with no or little experience will make assumptions against children and ruining that child future. Thank goodness the majority of teachers are a blessing for many families and children all over the world! Be the good one not the mean one! Teaching is not for everyone, caring, understanding a loving a child is not either the cup of tea that can be drink that easy. This two need to get some type of consequences for their actions and all the kids in that household most definitely need urgently to get therapy to prevent them from becoming another statistic. Or worse, to become like their parents! Just saying. May love, peace and Justice persevere here❤

Putting this teacher on the stand does nothing for the defense. Could it be this child had animosity toward his sister becuse of his abuse and isolation from the rest of his family. I would too. The jury will see through this dispicable strategy of blaming the child.

This teacher testifying for the father is appalling. The boy humiliated his sister for that one incident doesn’t come close to the daily humiliation the boy received at the hands of those who were supposed to love him including his sister who could have said something. Those teachers weren’t private school quality.

So because he humiliated his sister THIS box thing is ok? I humiliated my sister and she humiliated me....siblings do that. Neither of us ended up in boxes in the garage.

I’m finding it extremely rude that for the duration of this witness testimony she couldn’t have found a babysitter.. understandably Children need your full attention but something as serious as this it would have been nice to have her full attention.. this testimony did not have her full attention, her attention was on her children. She couldn’t keep eye contact longer then 20seconds.. quite a disappointing witness statement that was provided on something like this..

When one is humiliatiated constantly by their so called parents, it should surprise no one that a child would act out in this way, imitating what was done to them. A good teacher should be able to recognize this and refuse to take part in further humiliation of the child.

Who cares if he humiliated his sister, welcome to sibling hood, sometime it sucks. Who cares if he steals food, computers, yells, screams, throws tantrums, you do NOT get to lock him inside a room and then control that room from the outside!!

He was a good student and well behaved- the doctor said any trouble he got into was minor and he was never even expelled. If his behavior was violent he would have beeb expelled. Minor incidents like stealing cupcake sprinkles, and he took a calculator! Oh my! The kid was in advanced AP math and AP biology - he was and is a good student!

She finally she’d a tear but it was for herself and Tim heading to prison after the video. Then you see her stop as she’s watching herself thinking she’s a great mom. Sorry but you let your husband torture this boy. For both of them to continue that long shows it wasn’t a weak moment of stress or parents off track in response to stress. A sustained maltreatment, humiliation, and torture.

So, if a kid misbehaved his or herself is that the right punishment? Any adult who thinks that this kind of punishment is appropriate, would do it to his or her kid/ kids. I do not understand what these two anchor people are saying. The boy needed some counseling.

It was excruciating today. Listening to how that child was talked to is very upsetting. I'm glad the father didn't take the plea deal I hope he spends the rest of his life in a cell!

The negligence, reckless conduct, and gross endangerment, to lock someone inside, unable to get out. A reckless disregard for their safety, 🔥 is not only cruel but dangerous.

It's very telling that the boy's behavior imitates what his father regularly does to him.

The teacher cared more about the *privileged sibling's embarrassment than trying to ascertain why the boy was acting out. Would she have reacted differently were he the child's blood sibling? Equally disturbing is that, knowing what she knows now about the abusive parents, she's still willingly testifying in their defense. *All those children are victims. They should've never been exposed to such abhorrence and evil.

Reference to reserving judgement. I know there is nowhere to turn with some of these kids. My 'child' is violent. My office door needs to be replaced, I knew what was coming, and I locked my office door after her previous attack where she yanked me from my chair by my hair, punched me and pulled my hair and called me things I never thought I'd ever hear from her mouth. "There now you have something to cry about b*tch! I'm physically disabled and ironically my kid was also adopted. Then the time she lost it over an internet situation and she She was screaming top of her lungs, tore up creation and was biting her fingers and pulling her hair really hard. So I wrapped my arms around her to stop her I was telling her it'll be ok, and she bit me. Another time her door handle is on backwards so I was able to notice that and lock her in. She beat the hell out of that door. There is no help. She has been in a mental health center. A master manipulators playground. No diagnosis of anything. Give him a real chance to tell his side of things!!

He didn’t try to humiliate the other teacher, he went to her for help and she ignored him therefore they’re claiming it as humiliation the witness and the school should be held responsible as well

The teacher should have been concerned about the boy. The teacher should ask Why is he acting in this way. Unfortunately, the poor boy took out his anger on someone that he could. Should have told parents the boy needs therapy and parents need it also. Red flags not caught.

His behavior issues didnt justify entrapment or seclusion. They would have been justified in requiring him to go to therapy, to a behavioralist, something with a professional.

I am so disgusted how they tortured this child. Despite his behavioral issues, these parents only accelerated his issues by taunting and terrorizing him. You can tell the parents enjoyed how they terrorized him. I pray they get the harshest PRISON sentence!!

I hope after the trials of Tim and Tracy the states of Arizona and Florida go after the parents and all the defense witnesses for this child.

It dawned on me why they never got serious mental health therapy for child and family. They probably would be confronted about the fact they were locking this child up for hours in the dark. That would have to be reported by law.

Congratulations Mr and Mrs Ferriter, you have a kid that acts out. Many people all over the planet have kids like that and yet they don't lock them up in solitary confinement, and most of those kids grow up and turn out OK. How much of this kids behaviour was a reaction to the way he was treated by them? What they did was wrong, egregious, and abusive. That child is going to need therapy for a very long time, and I hope he gets it. Stop victim blaming, the parents had all of the power in this relationship, and this child was systematically dehumanized by them.

Honestly, a lot of the stuff this boy did (and how he speaks) reminds me of my son (who has Asperger's) before we knew he had it. Obviously, we're somewhat limited in the observations we can make of him, but what sticks out to me is the behavior/antics, the inability to read social situations and understand the emotional impact on others of his actions, the mathematical mind, how clinical he was when describing his feelings toward his parents and their actions, and finally the parents not knowing what to do in response because even when they (or others) told him to stop, he would continue. There are other things that I thought of during the testimonies, but those are off the top of my head. If we had never started actively working with my son, he would have continued acting like this boy who was locked away instead of properly guided by his parents. I don't excuse what these parents did. I do think more parents need an education on what to look for and how to properly respond to extreme behaviors from their children until they can get some proper help and work on those behaviors in a productive way.

Let him see how it feels to be locked in a small Cell, but it still doesn't compare to what his son endured. He will still get out to eat meals etc and will have an actual toilet to use but hopefully this Florida Jury gets it right. There is nothing to Justify what this heartless so called Father did to his Son. He knew it was criminal why else hide him out in the Garage and not put him inside the house? What is wrong with you ? How did you sleep at night? Do you realize what you did to a Child with severe behavioral problems wasn't helping him? You caused more damage to your Son that he will be dealing with for many years. If he was too difficult for you to handle then you could of reached out to a boys home or something else with a caring heart , even if people judged you it's ok, most people would praise you for trying the best you could but your at the end of your ropes. You would of been doing it the right way but you wanted the problem to be out of sight why? So you could continue to get his Disability check?

It sounds like the defense is literally asking the teacher to “snitch” on the boy. I don’t see it as the father being a good guy.
