Personally, I'm not a huge fan of the Marauder. My biggest issue is honestly, they aren't that comfortable at all. Compared to a civilian model like your 97, the ride of a Marauder is jittery, harsh, jarring, and truck-like. It rides far more like a P71 than an LX Sport, because it has stiff P71 spring rates, while the LX Sport places somewhere in between a civilian model and a P71, spring wise. Yes, it has rear air ride suspension, but that doesn't mean its the same stuff from an LX Sport. The "spring rate" of the rear air bags is a lot firmer on the Marauder. The Marauder seats are also significantly harder and less comfortable than Crown Victoria seats, even the LX Sport. Additionally, the Marauder gets awful gas mileage all while being still honestly being a pretty slow car, yes its faster than a civilian model, but so is a Nissan Altima. I hardly think the increase in performance warrants the loss in efficiency. If the motor made more like 400 horsepower I'd be all for it, but you get a difference of some 50 horsepower from a P71, and barely half the fuel economy. Its just not worth it. And while yes, it rides like a truck, this doesn't mean it handles like a modern performance car either. It rides like a truck, AND handles like a truck. There still really isn't any steering feel, the car just feels "disconnected" handling wise, despite being the opposite of that ride wise. The rack and pinion steering used in the 03+ panthers while an improvement over the old steering and more than acceptable for a civilian model, I find it still to be vague, slow, and clunky feeling from a performance standpoint. And Marauders are a lot heavier than something like your 97 as well, and you can definitely feel the extra weight in its agility. Overall, I think its overrated. The car loses too much, and gains too little. Its overhyped and overpriced. I'd much rather just get an LX Sport or civilian model and upgrade to fatter sway bars and call it a day. It'll ride far better than a Marauder, all while handling the corners just as "good" or better. And you'll have the cushy seats, a V8, and fuel economy you can actually live with.

I'd take the 96 Roadmaster over the Impala SS any day

Just bought a 04 Toreador Red with 149K for $5,000 Got it from a 82 year old man who put about 5k miles per year on it. He replaced everything as needed without hesitation. The only “problem” is that the clear coating on the hood is peeling in a couple spots. I’m so grateful

Blue is rare. Hope she hold onto it. She will have something really special in 10 or so years. Pantherd are already going up and becoming highly sought after.

@@ineedandrenaline if you get the opportunity to drive a Marauder you should absolutely do so. I'm by no means knocking Crown Vics. I was looking for one when I luckily came upon a Marauder in my price range. However even with the abundance of aftermarket components available for Crown Vic. It would cost a small fortune not to mention a bunch of labor to match the performance of a stock Marauder.

basically just as reliable as a crown vic. there are 2 mods that should've been done, one to cool the driver bank head and the j mod for the transmission that are in all panthers. everything else is the same. ive seen some with 300k+ miles for sale i almost bought one with 250k that drove real well.

Go for that Grand Marquis. They are great cars. I wouldn't modify it at all though unless you put a better intake manifold on it or maybe do cat back exhaust etc. These cars are reliable because they were engineered to be that way. When you start putting cold air intakes on them and J-Mod BS it tears them up. I would personally go for a newer Grand Marquis though. Just because all the gaskets and seals will last longer. I own a 2011 CVPI SAP and it's not only a good looking car but it's quick too. 280hp and that's with real upgrades. Not this DIY snake oil garbage. These are really good cars. Take care of one if you get it.

I don’t doubt it. Ford always underrated it’s numbers for obvious reasons. 🤣🤣🤣 come to think 💭 of it my brothers 88 Lincoln LSC Mark VII 225hp but could run like a scalded dog.

have you ever seen a STOCK marauder VS impala SS? the marauder always beats it....not sure what you meant that it has more high end power and torque. I love the SS but its not faster than a marauder

Yes sir, I have seen several stock Marauder vs Impala SS's at car shows, drag strips and have personally driven them for years. I sincerely didn't want to start any argument on which vehicle is faster. That discussion could go on forever between fans of each vehicle (Make/Model). I still love both vehicles and would purchase another Marauder in a heartbeat. I just wanted folks to be clear that at over 4000 lbs. each, neither vehicle is neck snapping fast off the line in stock configuration, but both are WAY more fun to drive than your average grocery getter. Please see below for additional info. Again much respect to all enthusiasts. The Marauder engine made 302 hp at 5750 rpm and 318 lb-ft of torque at 4250 rpm. Redline was 6100 rpm. For 2003, it was teamed with Ford’s 4R70W four-speed automatic transmission with a higher stall speed torque converter. An aluminum driveshaft channeled torque to a 3.55:1 axle ratio.

Continuation of previous post: In comparison, the 1994-96 Impala SS had 260 hp at 5000 rpm and 330 lb-ft at 3200 rpm and used a 3.08:1 axle ratio. In Car and Driver’s hands, the 4280-pound Marauder trailed the Impala SS: 0-60 in 7 seconds vs. 6.5 and the quarter-mile in 15.5 seconds at 91 mph vs. 15.0 at 92 mph. The Marauder’s top speed was limited to 117 mph to protect against driveshaft vibration. The 4220-pound Impala could hit 140.

Me too I prefer a 04 just cause I cherish the last of something a bit more than the 1st or original. Just would get a subwoofer & USB cord & I'm good to go. Just would have it for driving to work as a 2nd car.

Thanks. I know the Marty tune make a noticeable difference, that is my next mod. I have 4:10 gears already. I just didn't know if the combination was enough the close that 50hp advantage the Marauder has.

you can def mod a p71 to easily surpass a marauder...its more about the total package and the legend behind the car that cant be replicated

@@MrRandomReviews I dont know, I had a cat delete, custom mufflers, cold air drop in, and a marty tune on my p71 and the marauder feels much faster. You'd need some real power adders to get it faster id imagine.

The 4.6 2v loves and needs forced induction…There’s just simply not much you can do to the 2v that you can’t easily do to the 4v to surpass its power…If you weren’t going forced induction your first bottleneck on the 2v is the heads the factory heads just don’t offer much support over 300hp..

@@ThePlatform_603 not really, my old P71 had 4:10 gears, a CAI, msd ignition coils, and a cheap sct tune and I beat a marauder from a dig and a roll race while manual shifting. It's mostly the 3.27 gearing ratio that makes your Vic feel slow, get a 3.73 or a 4.10 ring gear and that car will wake up quite a bit. Also 2.5 inch exhaust straight-piped instead of an x or h pipe makes a world of difference in the upper rpms. (That Vic was stolen a few years back) currently working on my 2011 p7b. Cams, trickflowheads and possibly headers are in it's future. 👹

@@booga-squirrel4566 Nice, I hear the trickflow heads are supposed to be good. My vic was an 04 with a 3.55 lsd in her, but im sure 4.10s would be good off the line. It would have been nice to get a full exhaust on it but I wrecked her out in december. Picked up a marauder as a replacement and when I say it feels a lot quicker I was more talking overall. Since they both have 3.55 its more of a direct comparison. Generally seems like its easier to spin off the line, but that could because its got like 9 y/o rubber on it and its 0 outside lol. Highway speeds going 80 or so, when you put your foot in it, as soon as it drops the gear your already going 90 its kind of crazy.

I have a 2003 I'm restoring also . It's a cruiser . I also have a new z71 and I would chose that panther over that truck for a daily / Rd trip any day
