Can a orthodontist put braces on to fix a problem but there are not brackets on the molars is that a correct procedure? Im asking to see if I may need to get another decision before I actually settle with this ortho.
@Suhuur Farah same that is what my parents are doing but my ortho is making excuses on why I’m not ready to go back bc my dental models “aren’t” “ready”
If you could come to Lebanon, since everything is so cheap nowadays because of the crisis that is happening, it will cost around 350$-400$ full price for the braces, so monthly u’re gonna pay like 20 bucks
Currently saving for braces. Had to choose between getting a car or a nice smile and I chose this. I have exactly $3000 more to go but I’m glad I’m halfway . Wish me luck!
Wow... 😮The price for self-ligating braces in my country is around US$1500 only (consultation, tightening, wire change etc not included). I hope you get the braces of your dreams soon..
I got my braces off two months ago and I just wanted to say that your channel helped me out so much ,with all my orthodontic questions, during my treatment! :)
I would like to thank you on behalf of my daughter and me. She had her braces put on this past Friday and your videos were not only informative but also eased a great deal of anxiety. Thank you.
I wore the Forsus appliance for six months, it was painful but definitely worth it. I got my braces out in May and I'm so happy with the result and it’s nice to see such a good explanation about the concept of this appliance. Your videos are great ☺️
my ortho used a bite plate on me and i hated it, but i pushed through the weirdness of it at first and it was sooooo worth it. my top teeth used to completely cover the bottom row, like you couldn’t see the bottom at all!
I did. .braces ruins faces and airways. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-AtvNEXeUxJs.html Airway focused is better! Orthotropics, Forwardontics, Facefocused, Full Face orthodontics. He is traditional. ....
I did. This gave me a onger face (eye to mouth). Reduced tongue space (less ear to mouth distance). Smile in shadow when lips parted. It even slightly rounded my eyes, as less eye support from cheeks. Human teeth are attached to something. Called the face! This doesn't just move teeth back. It moves faces back. I have since grown (some) of my face back thanks to face-focused treatment. Makes me so sad that in 2020, some orthodontists are still promoting retraction of faces for overbites and/or overjets :( ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-eivdInkKJvM.html
I have an overjet and currently using elastics. Almost at the end of my journey! I was supposed to get my braces off in September, but since covid, I couldn't go to the orthodontist office for 2 months. Thus, prolonging my treatment. Can't wait to get them off!
I got the news my mouth isn’t progressing as expected (with constant elastic use) so I’m getting springs next month. This isn’t a surprise, I have a genetic connective tissue disorder and I’m an adult. This video is very soothing for my dental anxiety. The springs sound miserable, but I’ve been fighting incredibly hard against jaw pain from a 5mm overjet. I can do this!
I also experience jaw pain from an overjet and I'm going in for a consultation soon to see if I can try the same treatment. Has your jaw pain gone away at all? I'm afraid to try this and spend all the money for it not to help my pain or clicking.
My 9 year old started his phase 1 about a month ago. He has had dental problems his whole life that have let up to 6 extractions in a one-year span. He has severe crowding, 100% overjet, and his mouth is literally in a v shape. He goes back next week on the 28th to have a palate expander placed. A month or two later he will return to have bottom braces put on, and I am not sure if they were putting the metal springs in at that time or not. It was just mentioned he will need those also. Then somewhere down the road he will be getting a bottom expander placed. He is so excited knowing he will have a new smile he can be proud to show! His older brother has had braces before, so I think this has been a huge help up to this point even though it is just the beginning of treatment.
Omg I had those springs for 3 months, couldn't eat anything that wasn't liquid. This was 10 years ago now and I just remember wanting to take them out, because it hurt the inside of my cheeks soo much and I also worked in a call center and couldn't even talk properly. It was the worst part of the whole treatment. Watching this video now because I'm in braces again haha, wear your retainers people (and don't lose them)!
I just got forsus springs put on, they’re definitely uncomfortable compared to just having my braces on. Even when I get my braces tightened, my teeth aren’t really sensitive to chewing or eating for more than a day but the forsus springs … feels like when I first got the braces put on lol. It also feels like I’m relearning to brush my teeth just like when I got my braces on. But I’m spending almost $6k for this smile and I’m gonna deal with it and suck it tf up bc it’s gonna be worth it 💞💞💞 I encourage people to get braces, it rly does you give you that confidence boost:)) I use to be so insecure about my smile!!! When I get them off it’s over for these mfs😂
I've watched your videos for a while, but this explanation of an overjet vs overbite is the one that finally allowed me to understand the difference. I have an overbite, so I only have braces on the upper arch for now. Eventually I will get lower arch, but that's after the likelihood of my top incisors knocking the caps off the bottom ones lessens. At some point, I will need elastics for something, and I'm going to make sure I wear them. I'm getting orthodontic treatment to straighten my really crooked teeth and make them easier to brush/floss. Why would I lengthen the period of harder care and delay that easier care? That just seems illogical.
@@vivianchen7582 ohhhh good question mine did NOT bleed but that should be normal if its not consistent maybe take a day off of flossing to let your gums heal gotta love these braces haha XD
I had forsus springs for a while, and at first, they hurt like HECK, like i was in tears eating a freaking DONUT the morning after I got them, but then I got totally used to them. they are off now thank goodness and have been for several months (i now have elastics because of a bit of over-correction) and I'm getting my braces off in May! i'm super excited!
I have a pretty big overjet and at first the ortho gave me class III elastics and I watched your videos and saw that those were for an underbite so I told my dad to tell them and apparently they made me wear my elastics wrong so I went back and they tightened my braces and now I have to wear class II elastics. Thank you so much for your videos. If I didn’t say anything I could’ve ruined my smile.
@@8sofficial858 Yes they ended up removing 2 of my adult teeth for the final smile to turn out. I’ve had my braces off for over 2 years now and my smile is perfect 😁
Very helpful! 👍🏼 I didn’t even know about this appliance until I watched this video! Also, I used to think I had an overbite until the orthodontist told me I actually have an overjet (class II). Can you do another video on other ways to correct an overjet? Thanks and great video! :D
i had the forsus appliance for 3 months. it was horrible. my overjet was too severe to just let rubber bands do the work. i am happy that they decided to give me the springs even tho they were really uncomfortable. i always bit on my springs when i ate and i had the weirdest looking smile because the springs would stick out. but it works really fast and my teeth stayed secure for way longer. i didn’t have to start wearing rubber bands until last week, over a year later and i’m getting my braces off (hopefully) in a couple of months.
So a few weeks ago my dentist said i would need braces so i did some research and found YOU! After watching this video i knew this is what i would need. Sure enough yesterday i went in for the orthodotist to check me out and this is what i need! By the time he said it i already knew what it was and what it would do! It is so nice to know what will be going on in my mouth for the next 2 years! THANK YOU!
After scrolling all your videos I conclude that I have got all the teeth issue related : 1. Diastema 2. Overjet 3. Pegged upper teeth 4. Missing mollars So the procedures I will need to take most likely : 1. Invisalign(which I will have it in january) its very costly but they said up front from the beginnings that they cant help to fix my back bended teeth as the tooth next to them have been missing for years. :( 2. Before doing the invisalign, I need to do fillimg as one of my tooth is starting to decay a little bit. 3. After invisalign,I will need veneers for at least 2 of my small pegged teeth. 3. Then after that I would need sinus, bone graft operation as my mollars have been missing for 10 years. All this procedures will cost me a fortune yet still I am not sure if it can be fixed completely. I am depprresed whenever I think how many treatments to take to have a normal smile ;(
Im upset because I just left the dentist and they said I need to get my jaw shifted a little forward but I’m scared that my face is going to look demented
Dude sameeeee, i wasnt so scared about it until now that ive read a few comments. Is it really gonna ruin my face? I already have a recessed jaw dont want it to get worse. Did you get the springs? How’s it going for you
I was afraid of that. Trust me, its not what you think. You will actually look better afterwards, like you got a nice chin implant (if you've got an overbite now). Men are not very good at explaining this at all. Your profile will be much improved.
BRO I FEEL THE SAME WAY IM TERRIFIED Edit: update so yea I was completely terrified a month ago but.. I got the herbst appliance installed about two weeks ago and so yea I have that appliance currently in my mouth. And let me tell you it did not hurt at all. I am terrible when it comes to pain like my pain tolerance is so bad. So basically I got front braces with this wire? I guess on the roof of my mouth and behind my teeth which is attached to these medal caps on my molars um and for the main thing the appliance I also have that. So i got a bunch of things going on in there. And I'm being completely honest it did not hurt. The only problem I was having was I guess eating obviously I couldnt eat nor chew so literally on the way home I got a smoothie and yea anyway anyway if anyone has any questions regarding the Herbst Appliance please ask me :)
I don’t have my braces yet but getting them in a couple weeks. They already told me im going to need a forsus early on but will give me some time to adjust to braces before adding it. Im super nervous about the braces, but knowing this is coming is super daunting as well. There is not nearly as many people talking about their actual experience, just explanation videos of what it does and doctors who seem to think it is a minor inconvenience :s
@@laurelstatham4480 to me the forsus felt worse than the braces. Braces aren't too bad after a little bit, it took me longer to get used to the forsus, but I DID get used to them and they felt normal after a bit
I have a little too much of an overjet & I have a left high canine. 😭 It quite painful now cause when i chew, the bottom jaw doesn't go up & down like it's supposed to.. It's like...a cow. Goes to the side and I often bite my inner cheek.
You show overbite/overjet corrections with fixed braces. For children Bionator / Activator apparatus are used to do such correction. Is it possible to use such lose apparatus in adult treatment too ? It may be combined with Headgear to the Activator and chin cap to press the jaws together (during sleeping time). It may look to be an uncomfortable method. But some BDSM-fans may like to do it in this way. They can keep the apparatus as orthodontic costume play accessory for ever. Actually there is a fan community for wearing (outside) orthodontic stuff only for fun. How do you think about it ? My case could be fine tuned in this way. And I would prefer this method, instead to get a fixed brace again.
I’ve had braces to treat my overjet (I used to suck my thumb as a baby) for 5-6 years. My teeth as of now arent too far apart, the only space between them is my lower brackets. Just yesterday my orthodontist gave me elastics for it and told me to use two elastics for each side. I’ve read articles about how you aren’t supposed to double down on them and I’m honestly just worried. Any advice?
I've been toungue thrusting for 13 years and have an undeveloped bottom jaw. I'm now 16 and i'd like to know if there is any way of bringing my jaw forward without surgery
I have a overjet and my orthodontist gave me Invasligns and it’s not working I haven’t seen anything changes in my teeth. I was suppose to get braces but he said it might affect my gums. But I really think that braces is going to be the best solution for my teeth.
I just got my braces off two weeks ago and the orthodontist didn't do anything in correcting my overjet :( She only mentioned I need to have a surgery to pull forward my lower jaw, but didn't even bother to try with elastics or forsus.
I got Forsus and omg it’s amazing after the pain of not eating for a few days I have to have mines for a year to help correct mines, I have a over jet but once you get it for after a week it’s not bad but just be careful when eating! I learned the hard way some times my jaw will move side ways when I eat something small and I bite the forsus and it hurts and very shocking, but I learned the ways to avoid it.
Hi! Thanks for your videos Finally had my bracea at 24. She said in the first month we'll be doing alignments so she didn't put brackets on each 2 molars up and down and left and right Is that normal for protruding class II teeth for upper front? Alsooo will rubber for protruding teeth move my mouth forward? I don't want it to move forward, it is already protruding. :)
Thanks for this helpful video! I have overjet and my orthodontist have me worn the curved braces on the bottom jaw. I have been searching for video of how it works but no success. Can you please give some short explanation or a video on it? Thanks!
Omgeee ! I literally just started my journey with braces I had 4 teeth extracted 2 days and I feel better already ! Crazy I just learned I have an “over jet” I always thought I had an overbite! Thank you for this amazing video and all the others. It really helps those of us that are confused! I wish my ortho was as sweet as you are !
I used to not really care about my dental health, my mom always told me to go to the dentist but I was so scared I even ran away when I wanted to have my teeth removed, now I regret it
due to covid19 visiting to dentist not possible. can we keep braces without changing the bands for 2-3 months.but braces are safe.so any tips to overcome the teeth movement.
By "camouflaging" the overjet by retracting the maxilla, won't you leave less room for the tongue which should rest on the roof of the mouth, thus pushing the tongue back and compromising the patient's airway? Airway-centric orthodontics should be the priority.
What appliance is better in an overjet with the lower jaw not growing? My Ortho is recommending a forsus appliance and another Ortho recommended the Herbst appliance. Patient is 12 years old male
Dr Greg, my 12 years old son had a severe underbite and now have an overjet after wearing the face gear for 5 months, Orthodontist told him to stop the face gear just yesterday. Did he screw up, he should have let my son know to stop sooner? I’m not happy with this at all. Now he’s saying he needs to take 2 teeth on top and 2 teeth on bottom to fix the overbite/overjet when his adult teeth grow out? Please help us, what should be done now to fix this and not having to extract teeth? Also Why would he extract the bottom teeth and not just the 2 top teeth?
I had 4 teeth removed Monday (pre molars) and braces put on Thursday. So much pain 😭 I haven’t had solid food in almost a week and don’t see myself being able to anytime soon
I currently have braces and it's going well. My orthodontist did tell me that I have a very deep bite and I'm using a bite plate to help correct it but I will never have a perfect bite. It is still possible to have good oral health with a slightly off bite? The only this that can fix my bite is jaw surgery and I can't afford that and I don't really want to go though surgery.
I have braces currently. One of my problem is an Overjet. However, my orthodontist decided best that I got a carriere appliance, could you do a video explaining how it works?
All I got to say is enjoy being able to eat food before you get braces cause for a few days you will not be quite happy with eating and take an Advil/Tylenol a few hours before getting braces helped me a lot!
Can a forsus be used in adults, also I had my top premolars extracted but now the bite is protracted, I would like my facial profile corrected, and the space closed but not by pulling the front teeth back toward the posterior of the mouth.
Hi Doctor, may I know what is the difference between Forsus and Herbst? I am 23 and I was suggested to wear Herbst and Beneslider to fix an overbite. May I know your opinions?
Hello and good day! Im using elastics now. Is it better to request forces appliance to my dentist to correct my overjet? Is forces appliance more effective? Is it faster in correcting class 2 malocclusion or overjet over the normal elastics ? Timewise, are there any difference?
I have a question for you Braces Explained! My orthodontist told me I was getting a retainer exactly a week after I get my braces off. I’m concerned about my teeth because they might move... do you think it’s fine for them to give me them a week after removal or no?😅
Braces Explained Is this a good thing though? I usually see everyone get their retainers the same day as getting braces off. But a whole other week???? Will my teeth move?
Hi Thank you very much for informative videos. Pls Need more details about over jet correction in academic wise . Most of the time the orthodontist is not in the office . We dental hygienist should answering patients questions in tight way. Thks again. 👍👍👍
I have a massive over bite that make my upper area of my lip and around the edges look a bit pushed out slightly enough to become visible, I need to get 4 teeth removed but since lockdown there’s no way we’ve been able to do so :( I just don’t want my skin area around my lips to look pushed out it’s been my biggest insecurity and I’m terrified that I’ll have to wear some head gear I’m 13 too.
i just got my forsus removed and i have now got elastics to wear. For how long do i need to wear these elastics for? By what time would my braces get off?
are fixes like this permanent are do the overjets return after the appliances and braces are removed? are retainers alone enough to keep the bite corrected
I'm a dentist....and I'm under orthodontic treatment to correct overjet with forsus...how long it will take to complete? And what are chances for relapse aft using forsus? Can u kindly share?
My lower jaw is short so like back, they recommended jaw surgery but it’s too expensive and I’m too scared that my body will react weirdly, like reject it or smth. I would prefer to have it fixed but through an alternative :(
It is so difficult to keep it clean. 😥Eating is no fun. I'm also afraid of getting bad teeth after this procedere. Another question:After this treatment, how is it possible maintain the new position? Great video BTW!
hello doctor, i actually just got this advancesync2 which is a jaw treatment device, can you please make a detailed video about this product also telling which food to avoids and as well as what to avoid, please it would really help me😔, and also how to brush with that device because it's very hard and anything else that will help, thanks 🤍
my orthodontist wants me to have jaw surgery in about a year, but i told her i want jaw surgery as a last resort and i want to try other things first. she mentioned trying forsus and elastics but honestly idk what the chance is that it’ll work for me. i’m a mom and don’t have the time to recover from surgery. i have a deep bite and a pretty big overjet as well 😕 i’m also 20 so i don’t think i have much growth potential left.
