This is an example of how I practice my daily brain retraining rounds. Pulling from multiple brain retraining programs such as DNRS, The Lightening Process, The Stop Method, and then blending in mindfulness, positive psychology, NeuroLinguistic Programming, CBT and my background as a therapist, I have developed a unique way to approach brain retraining practice. I hope this helps those of you still on your healing journey.

I used DNRS almost 10 years ago to heal from severe multiple chemical sensitivity, food allergies, & chronic pain. I was home bound for two years. It works but it took absolute commitment --- 6 mos to really see progress and a full year to be well.

I recovered from 70 symptoms, gut issues ptsd anxiety and relentless ocd. I was stuck with dnrs and had to change some things around to move forward. I am grateful for the journey or I wouldn't be recovered and have powerful tools. My methods are abit different then typical brain retraining programs.

I just sobbed through that whole thing. I was just planning to skim through this for a few minutes while eating a bedtime snack and ended up just sobbing 😂 I’m healing from mold toxicity and Lyme disease and needing to do brain retraining! This was really helpful and encouraging.

Is gupta or DNRS better? I have lyme, mcas (shows up mainly as food intolerances) and mold issues (CIRS) too.

Thank you, ive saved your channel as a resource for healing. I feel like my system gets fried/ dysregulated easily with over reactivity and generally stressed out easily. Several stressful events have worsened this. I dont know what to label this as except heightened nervous system/anxiety. Would this help?

It depends on what that resistance feels like, you can just gently open your eyes for a few minutes to feel safe and grounded again, or you can work on drawing what you want your visualization to look like some people are triggered by having their eyes closed, so trying to work around that discomfort in small increments.

DNRS involves learning the basics about the limbic system & how it can overreact to stimuli in order to protect you. Retraining involves ideally doing practice rounds for 1 hour a day for 6 months (unless you heal quicker). These rounds help us to let go of old thoughts & behaviors that no longer serve us. The rounds involve some visualization, and use positive memories & affirmations that aim to calm the limbic system so it no longer overreacts to certain stimuli. Hii! I struggle with MCS and lots of histamine issues and was wondering wether it's enough to just do a round like that every time when retraining foods? I'm wondering if I'm doing something wrong😓

I think there's a lot of moving pieces.... I would do rounds every day, plus other limbic healing practices like yoga, breath work, time in nature, connecting with healthy environments. Then I would also work around foods that are safe and making eating a safe and happy time. Then I would consult with an allergist or immunologist to make sure you can create a list of safe foods to challenge and work your way up from there.

yes, I often do this. I think the initial standards are in place to set a good theme, but if you feel safer it may be more trauma informed with eyes open... or I also just posted a video where I use my own background to make it easier to visualize yourself there

I’m starting DNRS and I was wondering if I could ask you some questions? No pressure to respond. I have to get outside a lot due to chemical sensitivity and the air is very cold. If I am uncomfortable in cold air should I do a round? If I’m having social anxiety or an issue with my romantic partner should I do a round? Do you think you have to speak out loud for them to be as beneficial as possible? Do I have to avoid other people talking about symptoms, support groups, etc.?

Yes no worries at all! I would say yes! the more rounds the better! I have used rounds to help with temperature sensitivity, emotional reactions, etc! I do a lot of rounds quietly in my head actually or even writing them down the reading, or recording them and playing them back to me later if I have brain fog. I also think it is good to avoid symptoms focused talks or groups for sure!

I often skip past memories and focus only on future healing. I really think its trial and error. when we look at trauma based care it might make more sense to focus on the future instead.

@@happyandfreehealing So we'll start by just sitting up nice and tall, closing our eyes and just taking some deep breaths. Let's ground ourselves in the present moment. Just establishing a sense of peace and safety, feeling nice and secure here in the moment. Deep breath in ...and deep breath out. You can keep your eyes closed if it's comfortable or open them if we want to engage in some journaling or drawing during our rounds. So, first we'll take a moment, if we're having any sort of symptoms, just to tell ourselves it's okay to stop this overreaction of our nervous system. Take a step back and we'll look at our brain and our mind and our body as working together, but having distinct and separate parts. So, let's take a moment and say, “Limbic system it's okay to take a break, it's okay to rest. You are overreacting to these stimuli that are not harmful. But, I understand that you're reacting this way because of trauma. You're reacting this way because in the past we did have experiences that we had to react in this way to protect ourselves, but now we keep falling into that same pattern over and over and it's not helping anymore. It's actually hurting.” So, I give myself permission, I give my nervous system and my limbic system permission, to stop and to calm down and to take a rest. We might want to envision here,our limbic system like someone at the control room that sets the alarm off when something goes wrong, and telling that person “turn that alarm off. Everything is safe we can rest. Go take a break, there's nothing else to be hyper vigilant about. Deep breath and calm down. We are safe”. But at the same time, “Thank you body,mind, brain, spirit for working so hard to protect me. I know that you've worked so hard we've put so much effort into this into trying to feel safe and protect ourselves and figure out symptoms, but we don't have to do that right now. We are working on healing and we are at a place that we are healing every single day, and that healing energy is coming to us we don't have to strive for it anymore. So... again, take a breath and sit back, relax. Nervous system you can turn from fight or flight mode over into rest and digest. You can enjoy life again.” Take some time think about what it will feel like when you are completely healed because we are getting there every day one step at a time. And we're gonna put ourselves into that state right now. So again, maybe closing our eyes and envisioning a time and a place where we are totally healthy and healed. And so for today, we're going to use the example of walking down the beach. So, we're on a beautiful vacation because our symptoms have calmed down. Our nervous system reaction to these stimuli has calmed down so we were able to take that car ride or that airplane ride. We were able to get to the beach and stay in a hotel, and we are there and we are walking on the beach and we're not thinking of symptoms. We're thinking about the feeling of the sand on our toes, dipping our toes in the water, listening to the waves crashing on the shore, feeling energized. I feel vibrant, I feel grateful, I feel calm. I know that I have the energy to do anything that I want to do on this vacation, that I'm envisioning happening. I look ahead at the beach and I know that I want to just run down the beach to the very end and watch the sun rise. And then I know I'll be fine to come back because my body is healed and it can do anything that I need it to do. I smell these beautiful smells all around me. Different tropical smells or the smell of the sand and the salt maybe the smell of sunscreen and none of it's bothering me because my nervous system is healed, so it does not interpret any of these stimuli is dangerous. It only takes things in and is able to address them for what they are which is neutral stimuli. Because I am healed in such a way that I feel healthy and my limbic system my amygdala no longer overreacts to any stimuli. I can move as much as I want, I can eat whatever I want. I can be around the sights and smells and sensations and bright lights and noises and none of it bothers me. Because I feel so inherently, intrinsically safe that I am just so relaxed in this vacation mode, in this visualization. So I would take a few moments and just really be in that moment maybe close your eyes and again just visualize and feel the sensation - walking, one foot in front of the other grounding in the sand, hearing the waves, smelling the ocean, feeling the sunlight and the breeze on your face, listening to the sounds around you. And then realizing- I am healing. I am getting there. Everything that I need, I can work on within myself. Healing my brain, healing my nervous system and whatever else I'm doing that is working on healing my body and my symptoms. I will get to this place with complete and utter certainty and confidence. I'm getting there every day. Deep breath in, and deep breath out, with our hands to our heart center, just taking a moment to set that intention - that I am healing, I am safe, I am loved, I am peace.

I would say I'm 75% healed from MCS using brain retraining and holistic tools. I still react when under stress and also depending on the severity of the environment.

It’s definitely hard to reframe self talk. The intention is to think about how you want to be able to talk to yourself as you’re healing, and if we keep using self limiting language, it’s harder to rewire the brain to heal. But I also totally understand how it feels really counterintuitive and you are definitely welcome to change the wording so for example, you could say I am feeling safer to challenge myself, or I am attempting something new with hope that my body can handle the stressors

In the beginning I did them all out loud like DNRS recommended and even tried to walk around in the pattern they suggest. But it was pretty exhausting for me and I found that doing them in my head actually made it more successful because I could just do random cycles during the day as soon as I notice symptoms come up no matter where I am, even at work or in the car with others, etc.

In DNRS they include a little map with a diagram to show where you are supposed to walk and step in place to note when you are talking versus your higher self talking to your limbic system and then another step to do visualizations. I honestly did it that way a few times but mostly I find myself doing my rounds in my own head sitting or driving or laying down.

Thank you! It’s such a gentle approach. Not as structured and rigid , more personalized. I like to do the rounds in my head,silently, I can feel my emotions stronger this way. I like also the fact that it doesn’t require exactly 1 hour. I am a perfectionist, and not doing the transcript exactly like it was required, made me feel like I was doing it wrong , and caused additional anxiety. In visualization, I have just some safe relaxing places where I like to go, and I go there over and over again( not many places).

I'm wondering what your actual training is. Access to your library is $1000. There are alot of actual experts on youtube and I would not trust anyone who has no actual training, who just does a mishmosh of techniques and doesn't get held to any standard other than their own.

My course and library is only $264…I am wondering if you’re confusing me with another coach? I am a fully licensed therapist, yoga therapist and have literally 15+ years of training and experience that I talk about in a lot of my other videos as well. Hopefully this helps.
