Love it! I restored a 1999 KX250 for my trail ride. I just couldn’t bring myself to go 4 stroke. I just love the sound and power delivery of the old 2 strokes. I’m 46 and when I was a youngster we would dog on the 4 stroke guy because of how slow and heavy they were. Have you weighed it yet? Looks like a light machine.

In stock trim the 01 is a much better engine than the rest. Digital ignition, different pipe, port timming many changes to the 01 motor over the 00, 99, 98 and 97 engines. Only down fall was the carb. But this was an expert engine, think 125 on steroids but the fastest 250 in a straight line in 01.

I believe it to be a fact that this is the best bike they could build. The modern frame with the best CR250 motors. If Honda would release them and have their race team use them they would win for sure and bring back 2 strokes which is all anyone talks about now. The 4 strokes have just killed the fan base and the sound as we see is really that important.

How does this change the balance and handling of the bike not having the weight of the 450 in the middle?

I bought a brand new cr250 in 2000, it was nothing short of scary, pull a wheelie on command at any time in any gear. My dad who grew up on motorcycles said it was the scariest thing he’s ever rode 🤣

Where do you get your graphics made? I want to do a restyle plastics kit on my 2004 CR250R and make it look 2022 stock, but can't abide any "F's" in the logos, lol

You guys should make kits for the older honda bikes like for a 2006 model or somthing. makes the kit available for a way bigger market alot more people would purchase the kit. But I guess the question is how much work does it take to cover all the 450r series frames from when they started them. Awesome kits guys 👍

The cr500 motor is special and makes sense to throw into a new frame… but the yz250 motor is downright better than the cr250 motor, so just get yz250 lol Not to mention the fact you’ll still be able to order parts for the yz250 well into the future. Oh yeah, and the sss suspension on the yz is also better.

Nice bike, it's a shame Honda don't still make 2strokes. The crazy thing is that they had the technology to comply with emission regs in the 90's, years before they stopped making them. They built the CRM250AR trail bike in 1997 with electronic power valve and active radical ignition. They raced the EXP-2 400cc Active Radical in the 1996 Dakar very successfully and then abandoned 2strokes when they realized the pubic would accept 4 strokes, due to the acceptance of the 1998 Yamaha YZ400F. It's all Yamaha's fault! Well them and the emission regs... I still own a CRM250 and what a super smooth, linear, engine it is, just begging to be transferred into a new 2022 chassis.

You guys should have had the engine vapor blasted. It would look even better than it already does. Does having a bolt in lower section of the frame mess with the handling and frame rigidity? Maybe it’s just brackets I couldn’t tell. That’s the baddest new Honda out there other than the Built 500 ones.
