Today I am proud to present the first video of one of LRS’s new Heil Low Riders! About 12 units in total, a mix of short and long bodies, have been delivered to the Maywood site and are starting to be assigned regular routes. This one is still waiting to be assigned to a route, so when the regular Villa Park yard waste driver came back to the yard to dump the supervisor had him take this truck out on its maiden voyage to help finish up. I’m sure many of you remember when this contract was hauled almost entirely by split trucks (with the exception of yard waste), but in the time since LRS has taken over more front loaders have been put on those routes. It’s still cool to see some manual collection in this day and age, and even more so with a brand new truck! I really like the look of these, especially with the larger tailgate and longer body. Hence the name, this truck is designed to have a lower height and be lighter weight, which translates to them being more versatile in the routes they can run and larger legal payloads and for those reasons I think these trucks will work out really well for LRS. This was recorded the week of the Fourth of July so collection was delayed a day and was a bit heavier. Since this was the first time this truck ever ran a route, it was still being broken in and the driver was still getting used to things but nonetheless he ran it quite well. It’s always cool to see a new truck on route, and I’d say this is probably the newest truck I’ve ever filmed haha I hope you all enjoy the video!
