Treated our 10 year old golden, diagnosed with lymphoma, with the CHOP protocol and he did very well. Instant remission that lasted 18 mos. and then went thru a rescue protocol. He lived until he was 14 years, 2 months. Quality of life was excellent and he had very few side effects during his treatments. Expensive? YES but he was worth every dime and I would do it a million times over.

@Dr. Sue, I hope you read this, I need help understanding why it was too late for my big beautiful girl, an 140 pound Mastiff. We rescued her at 4yrs old, and 5 yrs later, she woke up with a huge lump on the left side of her neck, vomiting, extremely weak, no appetite, coughing, and having labored breathing. We rushed her to the vet. She was diagnosed with Acute Mast Cell Cancer with left submandibular lymph node involvement. She was intelligent, strong, playful, most patient, obedient, and sweetest girl ever. She was also very proud to be the protector of our family. She prevented a man from breaking into our house one morning when I was home alone. One day I had been upset and was crying, sitting on the floor, and she came and sat right next to me and laid her head on my shoulder. She sat with me like that for 20 minutes, me hugging her, she even nudged my head down on her neck as if she wanted me to lay my head on HER shoulder. She always did that if anyone cried. She was truly a special girl. I feel so lucky and blessed to have had her, but it was only for 5 years, and I never imagined this would happen. We had NO warning signs at all, it all started in one day and she died 4 days later. She was absolutely fine the day before except for a slight decrease in appetite at dinner time. How could this have come on so suddenly. I still cry for her and miss her and it's been 2 1/2 years.

My 10 years old yorkie, Bella, was diagnosed with Lymphoma GI (duodenum) last week. The vet give her only one month. I cry every day since a received the bad news. She wasn't eating or walking. I started giving her cbd for dogs (during the night), life gold, Mushroom defense, Petandim and blood builder during the day and prednisone. Also, I'm giving her Cell Food (oxygen-1 drop with water). She looks better every day, but I'm scare that this last for short time only. I'm trying to focus in giving her a quality of life and to enjoy every little moment.

There just isn't a viable treatment that is worth putting her through knowing she won't understand why I'm not there. Some clinics are like factories. She's comfortable.

Yes, simhi free, there definitely needs to be a different approach for patients without pet insurance. The oncologist threw so much information at me about the different possible treatments (none of it in writing) with no estimated costs. I think what’s driving the vets is the treatment they think would be best, which is CHOP, without taking into account those without pet insurance are going to need the most cost-effective treatment. I had to do a lot of homework on my own to learn about the different treatments available, their estimated costs, whether I would be able to give the treatment at home or have to go into the Vet’s office and any information on a possible lymphoma treatment drug trial that my pet may be able to get into. Also, even after learning about the estimated costs, I figured out it was going to be even more expensive because of the office visits and radiography/lab tests that were needed too. Thank you, Dr. Sue, for the information you provide through your videos. They were very helpful. The only thing different that I ran into is that my regular Vet didn’t want to prescribe Laverdia and wanted me to go to an oncologist to get it prescribed. Which meant more office visit/lab test costs.

Dr. Sue, I wish you would come back. I referred to so many of your vlogs when my Nattie Mae was diagnosed with lymphoma. Like Brian below, we went through CHOP and several other protocols where she made it to 20 months with 3 remissions. It would have been great to have had you for the thousands of questions I had. Cancer in our dogs is a heartbreaking journey and it's also a lonely one because others questioned why I would put my dog through it. She had almost 2 extra years of a high quality of life and I have two extra years of memories and for us, that is priceless. I couldn't get good nutritional information for her during her illness from my oncologist and it is an area that could be improved. I do hope you will start posting again because, like I said, it is a very lonely journey for people battling this awful disease.

Doc, why do you think there are so many dogs coming down with these cancers? IMO, its food ingredients, flea and tick Meds and vaccine schedules. Why do we vaccinate EVERY YEAR for these diseases if the majority of dogs do not venture far from their homes to have any type of exposure? One of my babies is 11 and was just diagnosed with Lymphoma this past Wednesday and we did everything "right" but yet here we are. I think instead of trying to come up with new drugs to fight the cancers money would be better spent trying to avoid the cancers in the first place. JMO

I feel you're right. When I was younger (teen) my dog only received Rabies vaccinations. This was in the 1980s... that dog lived 18 years. Fast forward to 2020, 2 of my dogs died by the age of 10 & 11... most of my Pomeranian live 15 but not anymore not since they have to receive 4 or 5 vaccination per year. I believe its all about $

I think there's alot of factors. Our society has become more unbalanced/unhealthy as a whole. We have tonnes of chemicals being used in farming, in city parks. We've got plastic and potentially alot of drugs/ chemicals in our water. Like there's just so much crap everywhere :( even human cancer rates are going up.

My dog was diagnosed with B-cell multicentric Lymphoma on 12/21/21. He started with cyclophosphamide & prednisone about 10 days later. (He had to be tested for MDR gene). Week 2 was L-spar & prednisone, week 3 was vincristine & prednisone. He suffered from severe side effects with vincristine (vomited/Diarrhea) & ended up with a mild case of pancreatitis and an "angry liver," which made it so that he couldn't give Lomustine. As you can see, my oncologist is tweaking the CHOP protocol as we waited for MDR results. He's normal/normal, and that's when he got the vincristine. But based on his horrible reaction & state of health, we opted to keep him on probiotics & a liver supplement AND start Laverdia. He's had two doses, and so far, no nasty side effects. We go back to oncologist in a few days to discuss next treatment. Possibly, Lomustine or Tanovea or doxorubicine... depending on his CBC and liver panel, and size of tumor. The problem has been that he's not gone into remission and the doc is questioning which protocol to use. I am tempted to keep him on Laverdia for a few more weeks, but don't want him to miss his chance for remission with CHOP. I also don't want to see him suffer like he did with the vincristine. Any suggestions?

Dr Sue Thank you for this informative video. First let me tell you that I'm in a difficult situation in not being able to take my dog to see a vet, due to the financial expense. Being disabled, SSDI provides less than 1k monthly, Prior to becoming disabled, I had insurance for my dogs. It was costly still, since the dog owner only gets reimbursed AFTER the dog receives treatment. Not at all helpful when you can't afford the costs at time of service. All the number of dogs that died, because they didnt get treatment, IMO is due to the Veterinary Profession. Vets need to have a staff member that handles the insurance billing, like medical doctors. The other needed improvements include having Free Clinics or a sliding scale for fees and costs. Is the owner on Medicare or receiving food stamps? There are ways the Vets can save the dogs. Next, how does the owner know whether a lump on the dogs cheek is a swollen lymph node or a blocked salivary gland? I spoke with an ER tech, before bringing my dog in, to find out if the Vet could do anything about the lump on her cheek. The tech called me back after speaking with the Vet. I was told that since my dog was old that I should consider euthanasia and that they do provide it. Personally, I'd like to know why a vet can't drain the fluid? My other question is whether a steroid ie prednisone could be given for a blocked salivary gland (perotid), to reduce the swelling to make the dog comfortable? Lastly, I've been told that a dog dewormer called FENBENIZOLE has been successfully healing dogs and humans with cancer. Would you please do a vlog about this option for dog owners? THANK YOU
@DJ_Driven
@DJ_Driven 2 года назад
From my YT research the prednisone is more for us than it is the dog. It looks like it's going away as the swelling goes down and we feel as though we're getting results for our baby. But it's only temporary as the prednisone is just telling the nodes to stop doing their job shutting down the immune system. And then bam a few weeks later it's right back to where it was. Sounds to me like you're right on track with doing your outside of the box methods. So far I had immediate results with CBD oil and turkey tail and you have to go sugar glucose carb kibble free 100% raw diet. Cancer must have sugar and glucose to survive.

@@edsjourney5536 My PoMeranian took multiple months of 2 different chemotherapy treatments. The 2nd more aggressive approach began to work however it also atrophied her intestinal muscles and her anus prolapsed multiple times. Each time to correct it that required anesthesia & minor surgery ( purse stitch ) each time the purse stitch was removed after healing her anus would prolapse again. This condition is very painful for them and also is a nightmare for humans taking care of them and cleaning almost constantly, and unhealthy stress for human and pet. After the 3rd prolapse I elected euthanasia for her. It was literally the worst day of my life electing to euthanize my pet when she was responding to chemotherapy but the chemo destroyed her other bodily functions and quality of life. If I ever have another pet & they get cancer, I will use only Vet prescribed Prednisone and pain relief to make them more comfortable during their last days. I now see PET chemotherapy as a selfish treatment only prolonging the pets life so that their human can have them alive longer. Being alive longer and going through sometimes debilitating treatments doesn't make your pet happy, just the owner. Take care

Did great: very little side effects ( except for the last 2 when she had nausea, lack of appetite, lethargy) . Was doing well: great appetite, playful and happy. This new drug may be an option. What about the exposure to my kids and fertility? I read the warnings, and putting him away for 3 days, not being exposed to his saliva, poop or pee seems scary and unreasonable. I’m just needing answers. My golden, 3 years old, has been diagnosed with lymphoma 7 days ago. I have a small window to jump on laveridia, but I’m concerned and nervous for my kiddos. Anybody have some advice? Thanks!!

Hi Dr! Can you please make a video of Cutaneous Lymphoma? We are starting Chop protocol with our Lab and have found 3 lesions like reddish with pus. We searched the internet and it says could be cutaneous lymphoma. Apparently is very rare. Would like to hear what you have to say. Thanks!

I would have tried this treatment for my dog The vet showed me the x-rays I asked her how long does she have to live and she said maybe a month I had my dog put down within 45 minutes. I've been to the same clinic 4 times in 4 weeks I never got to see the same veterinarian twice. I don't know a veterinarian's work on commission I wish I knew that I could put my dog down at my own house Or they would have told me that.

The clinic where I took my dog Always seem to be more interested in my credit card than my dog. The lack of compassion And the well being of My dog. For 4 weeks It was always take this medication with food. And I always kept telling them she will not eat. I'd pray the rosary every time she go outside To use the bathroom. And I was the instrument of her death Because I had no hope. It is painful not to have your dog come to work with you every day.

My golden retriever 5 month old puppy has a bit of swollen nodes on the neck and on the side axillary nodes seem not lumpy but theres something there which I thought was muscle or fat at first. Also he has some kind of cyst near ear which ver told me it was not a problem its a cyst from trauma or what else. But now that I noticed the nodes too I am worried, also has some kind of white discharge whenever he wakes up… is this lynphoma?

My regular vet in Massachusetts said I'd have to go to the oncologist for this drug. One can't get an oncology appointment for 3 weeks! It's very frustrating. I even called her old vet in Pennsylvania and he also said he would have sent me to an oncologist for this drug.

My regular vet tried saying this to me. I replied, I paid good money for all this testing and I need them to write a script for Laverdia until I decide if I want to do chemo. Doctor researched Laverdia for 10 min and sent my script to Heartland Vet online

Dr. Sue talks about chemotherapy being well tolerated and then goes on to name about a half dozen side effects that also must be medicated in order to "manage" the treatment. Considering that chemotherapy has been proven to be almost effective as nothing in the long term (with secondary malignacies being a very common side effect), one wonders how the medical industry is surprised that most people pass on treating their animals.

So my 9 year old boxer had a splenectomy which came back HSA. She has a small 3cm mass on lung and enlarged lymph nodes which the Dr.s assume is from the HSA. I assume this treatment would do nothing for my pups lymph nodes?
@Sven_Golly
@Sven_Golly 3 года назад
Your assumption is likely correct. Unless your dog has ALSO developed lymphoma, which is a completely different kind of cancer than HSA, this would not be for your boxer.

@@MrCastellinodaniel well sadly Louie passed away Christmas day 2021😢 He did chemo for a while and lasted longer than he would without it the best advice i can give is to instead of regular dog food make some eggs and we would cut up beef sticks to put in there too and he would at least eat that a little, anything is better than nothing.
