The blindfold taste test video is a good idea. Also, the Tesco version of marmite is SO good, maybe even better than regular marmite which I am addicted to 😋🤤

We buy branded ones, my friend says I should shop in Aldi. It's cheaper than other supermarkets. I am definitely going non branded from now on. You don't realise how much you save.x

One of the reasons I don't shop at Lidl or Aldi is that they treat their staff badly & the delivery drivers even worse! My brother has delivered to them & they're extremely rude & demanding. They pay minimum price for products & delivery & expect the delivery drivers to give them better than first class service while they try to order the delivery drivers around like slaves! There are truck drivers who refuse to deliver to them because of how they treat them! Not ethical shops at all! It's literally like sweat shops in the UK! I'm not giving my money to companies like that! It's all about the money with no respect for people at all! I have multiple chronic illnesses & disabilites & they have no patience for me taking my shopping off the checkout either! It's like here's your stuff, give me your money, buy, see you later! Er, no, you won't see me later treating me & your staff like that! Granted, Aldi is worse than Lidl, but they're both bad.

@Luke's baking channel Unfortunately it's cheap because of their poor ethics, but I'm glad they've been nice to you. Unfortunately, most people with disabilities have issues when they go there because the staff insist on still going quickly at the check out. They don't like being asked to slow down either.

I always find whole grains taste better than refined ones...they just have so much more flavour. Brown rice is hands down better than white (IMO). Then again, refined grains have a lighter texture, so if they're combined with something, like curry and white rice or white bread sandwiches (especially tea sandwiches), then they can be nicer.

I'd love to see that taste test video as well! Where I live there's a brand called "No Name," unfortunately, most of their products are heavily packaged with plastics, but so much more affordable. I'm a non-brand person all the way, except with tempeh.

Unbranded products in America but problem here is our stores don't have alot of unbrandon meatless options. & it seems like everything has milk in it :( ... But i have faith we will get there. You should do the same challenge on house hold products... ;)

Im currently in the UK for the first time and we are doing shopping mostly in Tesco, such a helpful video for me :) I’m trying many products which we don’t have in my country. Crumpets and marmite are going to be next!

I'm completely shocked by how much branded goods cost overall, not something iv thought to much of,im going to certainly more aware, i agree it life changing sums of money when you add it up over time, can't wait for taste test.i wonder if perhaps in future video you could perhaps do a vegan recipe once in a while, I love to cook vegan myself, but sometimes I get lost in what to do to try something different, I no there many that would like to try vegan, need inspiration especially now weather hotting up.

I buy like 20% branded because the brand really taste better. Some non branded, like ketchup, are very watery if i know what i mean. Or taste chemical. But other than coke, butter, ketchup i always buy unbranded. I bought about 2 weeks ago my daily grocerys in a different supermarkt and paid €113!!! Normally i pay €70.

It depends for my family, it really depends on the ingredients whether or not we buy the food. If the food has rapeseed oil in or glucose fructose then it gets put back on the shelf instantly. Most bread has rapeseed oil but luckily hovis bread doesn’t have rapeseed oil. Other than that we don’t mind having unbranded food.

I like the brown bread. I usually buy unbranded products but if the vegan versions melt better and/or only exist in the branded version, then I will buy those. Aldi's and Deemer's are the discount stores in my area of Pennsylvania. I am always surprised to find out how much I save at those stores and sometimes Wal-Mart because I deliberately overestimate my food spending.

My family usually buy non branded food, unless the branded is on offer and we spend roughly £100 - £150 per week. I think you should do a video living off the cheapest possible food in the supermarket for a day.

We do shopping once a month of 135 . We buy non branded products as we feel they taste nicer than the branded stuff. My son is autistic so other buy branded stuff he won't eat it, for a 2year old he knows the difference between branded and non branded products

I just bought some Heinz Beanz. Really needed to lol and I just paid $2 and change here in the U.S. I'd love to see a taste test. Might be surprised that some of the store brands taste good or even better than name brand.

I love Kingsmill 50/50 it’s white bread with all the goodness of brown bread it’s really good bread I’m not huge fan of brown bread but I like the 50/50 bread all my family love it we as a family buy non branded items but we do buy branded items on somethings but we never but any of the fruit in plastic bags at all and we use our own long life bags, if even given my long life bags out if people have not got a bag and was gonna buy a plastic one. xx

I go shopping every week and stick to a budget of £50 for three of us and I pick up anything that is on offer and normally it's Tesco's brand because he's cheaper. X

In my family we buy a mixture between branded and non-branded. Its difficult for us as I’m on a low salt diet, most of the time you just have to watch what’s added to the food sometimes branded is better sometimes unbranded. It’s strange the difference in them. Please do the blindfolded taste test video x

Looking forward to the taste test video. It would be good to have Jojo, Jamie & Sam as the taste test panel. As far as this video goes though, it also depends on whether you go for the supermarket's special brand as well. I find that for some fruits & vegetables, it's worth paying the extra for the special brand. Things like tomatoes, blackberries, strawberries, & raspberries have more flavour in the supermarket's special brand than the budget brand. Tomatoes are the worst for this! The "normal" tomatoes of supermarkets have absolutely no flavour! The special brands taste as good as if you'd grown them yourself & picked them straight from the garden. It's worth paying the extra for things like that.

Well done jojo with the free fruit. My kids normally pick up 2/3bits each 🙈 My all time favourite bread is grannery. Would love to see you guys do a blind fold taste test. I buy none branded products and get the offers etc. We spend £70 a week for a family of 5 and 1 cat. I love saving money so we can go on holiday once every 2/3yrs.

I think jojo and my kids are in a very small group of kids that really know and love fruit and veg sadly. When all 3 of my kids was in nursery age 2 to 3yrs they was the only ones that could name 30 different fruits and vegetables in there class that the dinner ladies brought in to show them. That's so shocking! I save very hard for our holiday x so I think the food shopping defo saves for it! Can't wait for next video!

I buy about half branded and half unbranded. It depends on what I'm making and how much I'm making. They generally taste completely different for me so taste also affects my decision.

Ketchup & my diet coke are the two items I won't go unbranded but have tried but didn't like them at all. Most of other things are unbranded as rarely any difference & lot cheaper. Some things even taste much better. Seeded bread for myself if had the choice, however as I'm the one who eats it the least, I rarely get to choose. So wholemeal bread mostly

Merry Christmas from Cambridge i enjoy your videos i shop at lidl for myself i am single geezer with my best friend cappuccino my pooch i buy Italian food and sausages and baked beans and bread i like the 50/50 hovis loaf sometimes I buy Lidl farmhouse loave and I love the fresh bakery in Lidl i spend around £20 a week for groceries and £15 weekly for dog food and treats for cappuccino she loves my spaghetti with Ragu sauce and fettuccine lots of hugs to you all ciao

Super bizar some of the price differences! 😱 I always prefer to try the unbranded things first, I don't like to waste things so unless it's absolutely awefull I will always finish it. I will be in the UK in a months time, I am bringing my car as it's just easier with visiting all of my family and friends.. anndddd I always like to bring back shopping. I've been eating Vegan since December (ok with some mistakes maybe) Have you got any tips on things that I must buy? I am bringing coolboxes as well so also looking for cooled products. Would be awesome if some of the freedom fam have tips for me!! Thanks in advance! 😘

Hi Victoria, great to hear that you're coming to the UK, we do have a lot of good vegan products here. We'd recommend the Vivera products in Sainsburys - the vegan bacon is especially nice. Sainsburys also have lots of good vegan cheeses too, Violife cheese is good too. M&S and Waitrose also have really good vegan ranges too, with lots of great products. Hope that helps, have a fantastic time here 😊

@@FamilyFreedom thank you! Can't wait to go and find the vegan bacon! Used to be a huge bacon fan and always brought bacon back home. We have a load of Vivera products over in the Netherlands, but they haven't brought out the vegan bacon pieces out over here yet, shame as it's a Dutch company. So will be bringing a couple packs of them home. Can't wait to buy some new stuff to try 😎 Same with cheese, Netherlands are still lacking a bit with vegan cheese so once in a while I drive to Germany where they have Simply V and some other choices, but will bring some home from the UK 🤭 Thanks for the tips for M&S and Waitrose, will try and pop in there as well. Will only have 4 full days, and it will be my niece (turned just 6) her first time, she has met most of the family but not all yet, and main thing for me is to do nice things with her. But I will definitely go and do some grocery shopping as well 😎

Good video! Its wired as most of the unbranded is basically the same as the branded bar the price! Yes do taste test! Apparently one known chocolate company(the factory where its made) sells their chocolate to a cheeper budget supermarket like Aldi for like £2 and then sells it at their own store and supermarkets like Tesco for a higher price! But i more food/homeware companies do the same? #freegang #freedomfam

Hello lovely people, You should get yourselves on Olio (if you haven't already signed up to it), its a food waste listings app which enables people to share food/objects they have which are surplus to requirements. London has some great offerings and most importantly it helps people who may have a tight budget and assists those who hate food going to waste. And in the words of Neil Armstrong "That's one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind" to reducing waste and contributions to landfills. Perhaps you should do a 24 hour challenge of living off such an app? Much love to you lovely bunch
