Calling All Angels (Jane Siberry) A man is placed upon the steps, a baby cries And high above him you hear the church bells start to ring. The heaviness, the heaviness of it settles in, A mother starts to sing. Then it's one foot then the other as you step along the road Steppin' on the road, how much weight, how much weight? And it's how long and how far and how many times, Oh, before it's too late? Calling all angels, Calling all angels. Walk me through this one, don't leave me alone. Calling all angels, Calling all angels. We're trying, we're hoping, but we're not sure how... Oh and every day you gaze upon the sunset With such love and intensity. Why it's almost as if, if you could only crack the code You'd finally understand what this all means. Oh but if you could, do you think you would Have traded all the pain and suffering? Oh, but then you would've missed the beauty of the light upon this earth And the sweetness of the leaving. Calling all angels, Calling all angels! Walk me through this one, don't leave me alone Calling all angels, calling all angels, We're trying, we're hoping but we're not sure... Calling all angels (call all angels) Calling all angels (call all angels) Walk me through this one Don't leave me alone. Calling all angels, Calling all angels We're trying, we're hoping, we're hurting, we're loving We're crying, we're calling, But we're not sure how this goes.

It's beautiful. It's not Jane Siberry and KD Lang but great to hear it again.

Beautiful. So sad. But what was up with Steve Earl chatting up Emmylou while Brandi is singing?
@frankhood1
@frankhood1 5 лет назад
He was likely trying to figure out how his voice didn't work with this harmony. At this types of events artists come and go on/off stage. He wasn't up to speed on the set list.

And then he gets up and leaves in the middle of the song. Kinda rude and disrespectful.

No, he really is NOT "a self-absorbed jerk". And he was NOT "chatting up" Emmylou, it looks as though he said something to her briefly, by way of excusing himself, then left the stage to do whatever. Whatever his reason was, I'm sure it was necessary. Maybe he calls to check up on John Henry, if he's had a bad day. It's WELL known that Steve is a devoted dad. And sometimes even musicians get a throbbing headache, or dehydration, or a sore throat or heartburn, and they cannot give it their all without something to relieve their misery, like any of us. Why don't you quit being so self-righteous? Steve gives his all like a complete professional at every concert he has been part of, that I've ever been to, whether he is the main act, or part of a multiple-artist tour, and I have seen too many to count. He's a very kind person. Once in 2014 we had a blizzard the night he was supposed to play at the Birchmere, and we had tickets. The Birchmere cannot cancel concerts if the artist does not, so when John Hiatt played there the month before, we also had a blizzard, and since JH had already arrived safely, the show went on, half-empty house or no, even though it was still snowing hard, we couldn't get up our street, and we got about 1ft. We were out $200-some for the tickets, on top of the disappointment. JH didn't give a damn about any of his audience. By contrast, Steve Earle cancelled his concert on Feb.13, and rescheduled it for exactly 1 month later. When I talked to him after the show in March, I thanked him for being so thoughtful like that, and he said he would never leave his concertgoers disappointed for reasons beyond their control. I gave him a big hug. He's awfully sweet for "a jerk".

Bob Rigor Since I "chimed in", I learned what a pit viper sounds like. It was mildly instructive. Steve Earle would never be as rude and boorish as you. Vilify him till the cows come home, but it doesn't impress me I'm wrong, or that you're right, because you have no taste, no class, and you were bred by wild hyenas. GFY back ---every day and twice on Sundays.
