Everyone who witnessed novak's come up in the 90's skate scene are in utter disbelief that guy survived let alone got clean and is now helping others with addiction. Can't even express how stoked I am about that in words, quite honestly.

I disagree. As fucked up as this sounds, I miss the old Novak. The new sober Novak sounds like an AA commercial on repeat. The old Novak was absolutely hilarious and was arguably one of the funniest guys on Viva La Bam other than Brandon Dicamillo. I'm glad Novak got sober but he sounds like an egotistical life coach. He lost his sense of humor.

Keep at it bro. It doesn’t happen overnight that’s for sure. It took me several tries, but I’m on a good stretch now, and I can feel that it’s going to be a long one, one day at a time, as cliche as that sounds. I was going to buy these pills for a flight I had, but didn’t have enough time to get there and make it back in time before I had to go to the airport. My friend bought them and OD’d, was taken to the hospital and survived, but those could’ve been mine. He said they looked 100% real, and it was from a trustworthy source. That would’ve been my second OD, and I would’ve done it while driving down the highway, which would have ended in disaster. I’m thankful it didn’t go that way, and that was a real wake up. Just keep at it man, whatever your vice is, it’s worth it, I feel like I can do anything now, and wish I didn’t waste so much time with that garbage. Best of luck to you.

I'm not a horrible type of blackout drunk, but I can't stop drinking. I'm almost diabetic and almost stage one cirrhosis, but glad I'm getting ahead of it while I am. Made life changes with diet and exercise, and took steps in harm reduction, but still can't 100% quit the sauce. Still on a 6 pack/day almost everyday.... pretty much everyday. Im much better than the level I was at before, but other than a few 35-90 day stints, can't stop. I'm glad that Novak is so far in recovery that he's recognized that the cost of trying to save someone is no longer worth the effort when they aren't willing to meet you a single step of the way. Good for Novak. I have no doubt he'd go through hell to help Bam find his way back, but he can't carry him kicking and screaming, which seems to be the only way Bam could ever get his mess together.
@eatassonthefirstdate
@eatassonthefirstdate 8 месяцев назад
if my mom didn't threaten me w could and take me kicking n screaming to a rehab n detox, I wouldn't have gotten off Fent. sometimes you gotta be taken kicking n screaming to get over the hump of withdrawals OR the hump of switching to Suboxone. I can tell you've never been addicted to real drugs.
@kevinspilker6622
@kevinspilker6622 8 месяцев назад
@@eatassonthefirstdate Novak has done all that for Bam. And then some. At this point, Novak is just setting himself up for more abuse and the best thing he can do for himself, and the many other people Novak is helping, is to cut ties with Bam. I’m glad to hear you got a handle on addiction. Hopefully you can progress to the stage where you have the humility to avoid assuming that other people haven’t dealt with addiction because you disagree with them about how far someone can reasonably be expected to go to drag an addict into sobriety who isn’t ready to do it. I don’t know your situation, but I would imagine there was some part of you that was ready. And that’s great. The many times Novak has tried to help Bam, there hasn’t been enough of him ready to stop the pattern of addiction.
@christianjames92
@christianjames92 8 месяцев назад
Addicts have to want to change. Period. There's never been a case of forcing someone to be sober and that working long term. You have to hit rock bottom. He can take Bam to the center kicking and screaming and Bam can detox, but if Bam doesn't think he has an issue or doesn't truly care about the addiction ruining his life then it means nothing.
@eatassonthefirstdate
@eatassonthefirstdate 8 месяцев назад
@@christianjames92 umm, prison forces tens of thousands of ppl to finally get clean after decades of use/addiction. and a lot of those ppl stay sober/ stay away from their bad drugs forever, I. e. just smoke weed when you've been hooked on heroin for 17 years. it happens all the time I know plenty of heads who have been outta jail and sober for YEARS and if they didn't get locked up, they would PROBLY be dead by now.
@kevinspilker6622
@kevinspilker6622 8 месяцев назад
@@christianjames92 100%. And Novak himself says that he doesn't limit who he tries to help. That he'll drop some wisdom on people who may not be ready, because maybe someday it'll make a difference. Bam is another story. Novak has done more for Bam than probably anyone else, including Bam's family. When everyone else had already given up on him, Novak was still trying to help him. Wisdom is recognizing when that help is no longer wanted, or appreciated, and that your time and energy is better spent on helping the many other people who have come to you because they WANT help. Which is what Novak has devoted his life to. Why should someone who truly wants to get clean get less attention and care from Novak because Bam is doing his "black hole of resentment and negativity" routine?

Man, I will never forget getting out of rehab and finding out that two guys, Tim Ryan and Brandon Novak were coming to my old high school to chat with everyone. I went, and met Brandon outside for a smoky. Long story short, I relapsed several times and called them both for help several times. Now I've been clean a few years, work in a treatment center, and I play Tomorrow will be better and Steve-O's videos of getting sober to show my clients. I'm beyond proud of all of you gentlemen. Keep doing your thing and keep helping others. Love y'all!

That’s awesome. When Brandon first opened his sober living houses I remember he posted his personal number on his socials, not thinking of course. But a few days after, I looked him up and called him. I expected to get forwarded to an operator or something. To my shock, he answered. I live about 2 hours from that first sober living house he opened and I was looking for help. Unfortunately, the rooms got taken pretty quickly and I would’ve been on a long waiting list and I was ready to get clean and sober then. Without thought, he immediately asked what substance I was hooked on, how long it had been, if I had ever been to rehab, etc. Even though he had no room to help me, he sat and stayed on the phone with me for about 30-40 minutes. He looked up other rehabs, sober living homes, detox centers near me. Gave me numbers to call. Gave me advice. Guided me through the beginning steps of sobriety and gave me tips for along the way. He didn’t say, “Oh apply for a room at my place and wait 2 years. Let me take your money. You don’t need help until I can help you. Give me money for giving you this advice and help.” He took that phone call and helped me out of the kindness of his heart. I’ve been sober since. That phone call saved my life. I think if I just went into any old rehab, it wouldn’t have worked. Getting that advice from someone I admired and looked up to as a teenager, it’s what really helped me. I’ve tried to reach out to Brandon multiple times online through Instagram with no avail. The number I called him on no longer exists. He probably doesn’t remember that phone call through all the people he’s helped. But I want to be able to personally thank him for saving my life and taking that 30-40 minutes of his time to help me even though I had nothing to give him.
@B-Bibbles
@B-Bibbles 8 месяцев назад
Hey man, he actually does have a new number. He says it at the end of this video actually. I now work at a substance use treatment center, and I just called his team to get someone into his IOP, they got them set up with a sober living, they don't have to pay rent until they complete IOP, and Redemption will get them to and from IOP and Sober living, and will help her get a job. Brandon Novak is the reason I'm so passionate about substance use. I've walked where he walked and I love the work he does. I've got a family, so I can't dedicate the same level of care he does, but if I didn't, then I'd fly myself out to Delaware on a one way ticket and wouldn't leave until I was working in his treatment center.

He had a couple of drunken brawls that made the news before Dunn died, but you're right about Dunn being the one to keep him grounded. The irony is that Dunn had a severe drinking problem himself.

Novak is a piece of shit. When Novak was stealing and doing drugs at Bams place, Bam still let him stay cause he had nowhere to go. Novak was a Leech on Bam because he was famous. Now that Bam isn't doing so well and his career is over the tables are completely turned. Novak now chooses to publicly shit on Bam every chance he gets. Novak thinks because he's sober he deserves a purple heart. His whole career was built on the shoulders of Bam.

i just started watching but i'm super excited for this one! i read Novak's Dreamseller book while in jail, shortly after i had a miserable, hellish, raw dog detox from IV fent + meth in jail. the book really gave me a lot of clarity + hope, it was exactly what i needed to plant the seed of sobriety in my mind bc i was living a very similar misery that Novak had been living. the ending of that book made me want to fight hard for my sobriety. almost exactly 10 years later, the book is still sitting on my shelf + i'm still sober. proud of you both for turning your lives around + making a difference in lives you'll never even know about ❤

Same here. On it for 2 years and have only gone down in dose. I take about 4mg a day now and I'm at the best I've ever been. It doesn't get me high, I don't abuse it and haven't touched any drug (weed,booze,opiates) since two years ago. Is it 100% sober? No, but why does that matter? What matters is you aren't actively destroying your life and loved ones around you. If at some point suboxone turns on me or I find myself hating it I'll get off.. for now I'm simply living life and trying to piece together what I blew up with my using.

That’s his issue though… since he was a child, he’s been given everything he’s ever wanted. He’s never been told no. And that has unfortunately clouded his mindset. He feels he’s invincible. When I was 20 I was into opiate pain killers and made the mistake of going to a methadone clinic because people told me it was a good way to try to get off the pills. After going there for a few months I realized I f***** up by going there. I wasn't into the pills bad enough to have needed to go there, I'd go through withdrawal but it was so mild especially compared to withdrawal from the methadone. I should have never gone there, I'm so scared to come off of it because the withdrawal is so unbearable. I came off it once but within a year had to back because it messed my head up so bad. I just felt like an empty shell, I didn't want to do anything. Its hard to describe but the best way I can describe it is I didn't feel like myself at all it was horrible. I'll probably be stuck on that garbage til the day I die, i hate taking it but i can't handle the withdrawal and how it messes my head up even after the withdrawal is over. Bam, Dunn, Novak, Rake Yohn, Dicamillo, Rabb Himself and Chris Pontius are the CKY guys and they STARTED that shit. Knoxville, Steve O, Wee Man , Dave England and the other guys were all brought on from Big Brother Magazine basically freeloading off of Bam & Co idea. the Landspeed (,first CKY vid technically) and CKY2K are the best videos. CKY3 is when it started to have more of the Jackass/MTV feel to it. MTV wouldn't even show half the stuff they did in CKY2K. I mean it was cool to see the guys from the CKY2K video we watched everyday after school making it on MTV, but they watered it down significantly...

I don’t like the one homie saying all smug, “I can’t fuck w you” over someone being on suboxone. If someone’s made that step to get clean and off drugs and on a medication that can’t get you messed up or let you get high, why not? I’ve been on .5mg of it now for a couple years and don’t have any intoxicating effects and feel completely normal. Life’s been great, got married, great career, and really healthy. I know there are “rules” in the “rehab industry” but they also have a 97% fail rate so when people are more like Novak who are willing to help anyone who’s been willing to take even the smallest step forward vs just flat out saying no unless you’re not on anything at all. I have known a lot of really great people overcome by addiction whose lives were lost, still battling or who got clean. We gotta be there all the way for people and not get on a high horse because we may have made it. I still have my .5mg I do which is fine to say is a crutch or maybe not but all I know is I love seeing Novak with his mindset about helping all people cuz that next guy you cold shoulder could be dead next month but that one possible chance to have you help him was pushed off cuz he was on a detox/maintenance medication to slowly make it “all the way”. And if you aren’t a sponsor who’s willing to do that then offer him a reference so they can get support. I loved this entire podcast but that one smirk dude made frustrated me. Still not hating either just one of those, “c’mon bro let’s try a little more with that” things.

They were lying in the description. They were hating on Bam's sobriety.

If you watch the whole podcast youd hear the part about Bam

Yeah, they basically just shit on Bam when they talk about him. The fact that he had more than 60 days sober barely got mentioned at all here. Know why? Because Steve-O will lose views of Bam’s sober. Neither of them care about bam at all and it’s plain as day.

Late to this episode but you’re amazing Steve-O! Last October, at a Hulaween festival, I was talking to a friend about your recovery and channel. There were many people indulging around us and oblivious. Of all members of ‘Jacka$$’, you were the one we thought would never get sober. Now you’re helping thousands of people address their addiction, stay on the right path and shake the shame of their disease. If Steve-O can do it, so can you! Utmost respect to you! Sending love and light to you and your family! 🙌🏼🤍💫🕊️✨✊🏼

This is almost like a parallel universe timeline. In another timeline these two didn’t get sober. It’s crazy that here we are in this timeline. The fact these two got sober and have been sober for years, is insane. Legends. Got my 19 months myself. I look up to these guys.

I'm so happy you 2 are still here and making us laugh. I know the struggle, your a real inspiration. ❤ And meeting Skinny Vinny was a real treat at UPAC.
