Have you ever seen The Visitor (1979)? It's not quite that, but it's close. A really fun bad-yet-awesome Italian knockoff that's trying to simultaneously be Close Encounters, The Omen, and a Jodorowsky head trip. Plus it has a surprisingly strong cast and a *primo* Italio-disco soundtrack, if that's your jam.

fun facts: the film was the most expensive production in spanish Cinema. The alien suit was designed by comic artists Alfonso Azpiri and Juan Gimenez. and original story was writing by Andreu Martin (a respected Noir-novelist, and comic writer9 Unfortunately his director Fernando Colomo was popular but he got just experience as comedy filmmaker so I think he couldn´t change the tone .

Klaus Kinski has the distinction of playing both Renfield & Dracula in two separate films. Kinski was Renfield in Jesús Franco's *"Bram Stoker's Count Dracula"* (1970) which starred Hammer's Dracula Christopher Lee reprising his role as the titular character (who now has a moustache in this version, much like how the character was described in the Bram Stoker novel). Kinski later played Dracula in Werner Herzog's *"Nosferatu: Phantom* *of the Night"* (1979), the first remake of F. W. Murnau's 1922 horror classic, soon to be followed by a second remake in Christmas 2024.

@vitorafmonteiro
@vitorafmonteiro 4 месяца назад
Hey, Brandon liked it! Btw, Brandon, on the weird tone of this, it kinda makes sense when you realise some behind the scenes stuff on the film: for starters this was directed by Fernando Colomo, a Spanish director more known for his part in he "comedia madrileña" genre (the closest thing to this for an Anglo I can think of is urban comedies on city slicker party intellectual types a la Woody Allen or the more yuppy and urban part of John Hughes's output, and although there is no full confirmation, what we DO known on the behind the scenes, Colomo started with Imanol Arias who is a legit REAL actor but also worked a little with Colomo in the "comedia", but during pre-production Colomo changed his mind on the alien and though he needed a more androgynous look, and enter our friend Bowie-Sting-Idol her (this is not a smoking gun, but it does make one think he might have tried this film as an exit from his safe place, but couldn't avoid falling into comedy mode, and then tried to fix that before finished product, but still couldn't shake his usual style off). So imagine Woody Allen trying to do "Match Point" or "Cassandra's Dream" but it coming out more like "Love and Death" or Hughes trying to turn his "Just Visiting" script into a not full-blow comedy.

Don't worry for the Space Man. People had functional noses in the Middle Ages. Bathing was most definitely a thing. It's mostly the Victorian era wanting to feel superior that created that no-bathing myth.
@davidgantenbein9362
@davidgantenbein9362 4 месяца назад
The people in the middle ages actually believed that bad smells transport diseases, so yeah, people from the middle ages were not the ones not bathing and just pouring on perfumes, that era came later.
@RedSiegfried
@RedSiegfried 4 месяца назад
A lot of them didn't bathe very often because the popular misconception was that getting completely wet and not drying out quickly would get you sick (catch your death of cold) but that doesn't mean they didn't wash themselves when they needed to. Not as much as we do today, but they stayed clean enough.

Back in the mid eighties, my brother decided to rent Star Wars for his birthday. He had wanted to watch it forever. So had I. We had to rent the VCR as well, so we only got to rent on our birthdays. The Doofus rented this by accident, as the Danish title translate to Star Warrior. That was a bit of a disappointment for 11 year old me. ¡Oh my god! I never thought I would see Miguel Bose on this channel xD I knew he acted a lot in that time, but I never got over the fact that he acted in an English-speaking film. He is most known for being an Spanish/ Italo singer and songwritter, very popular in the 80s and early 90s. In fact, is fun that you call him a poor man's David Bowie, cause in that time he was trying to emulate his image, even the cover of one of his albums is very similar to "Aladdin Sane".

City of industry, Is one of Harvey cartels. A very hard core action - revenge movie. A must recommend movie you should watch. My great inspiring wisdom for today. Have a great fabulous wonderful day.😀

I saw this movie when I was a teenager in the early to mid 90s. Literally the only thing I remembered were boobs and the alien (and his creative suit and spaceship designs).

Obscure enough that I never watched it, not obscure enough for me to have never seen that cover design in video libraries, but passed on it.

For medieval world meets aliens movie, I would love to see you review Crusade with John Rhys-Davies. The book it's based on by Poul Anderson is absolutely fantastic, too.
